Taika has met with Marvel for another project

In the latest THR report about Volume 3 they confirm they met with Taika but dont say what it was for but reading between the lines it wouldn't be surprising if it was for Volume 3. The with good reason bit is why I think its for Volume 3.

Marvel and Disney are taking a measured approach in their search for a filmmaker (one source says that Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi recently had a meeting with Marvel but it is unclear what project was discussed) and with good reason.

I think Marvel will try to keep GOTG Vol 3 on track for a May 2020 release since I don't think the productions for for BW solo and DS 2 are likely not far enough along to meet that kind of release date and Marvel doesn't want to give up that early May date. I hope if they bring Waititi back, it's for another Thor film, not GOTG.

I think Taika would fit GOTG 3 more than he does another Thor film, but if it is for another Thor film I would love that as well. All signs point to GOTG 3 though, which he'd knock out of the park no questions asked.

I've been big on the idea of a fourth Thor movie since it would help erase Thor 2 from my mind plus Thor is more popular than ever now.

I would love if Taika came back for Thor 4. Taika and Chris Hemwsworth really want to do a "sequel to Ragnarok and both have already discussed some ideas about it.

GOTG3
Taika coming in for GOTG3 is the logical choice. He is a perfect match for the material and could really do a great job with those already established characters. His character work in Ragnarok was great and the interactions between those characters really shined through.

GOTG3 with Thor
Best of both worlds. We know that the third Guardians will feature Adam Warlock and Thor has a rich history with that particular character. Also and as seen in IW, Thor would fit right in with the Guardians...

Something cosmic... And now that Marvel lost a singular director like James Gunn, it would be wise to secure the other singular voices in their roster...

Would he do it? I mean, he had a life before working for Disney. What if the mighty House of Mouse ever finds out he made JOKES in the past? Working for MS now is a risk for every filmmaker, I mean, Taika made a movie about vampires, can this blatant dabbling in the occult be a sign for a secret satanism thing? I figured this would be the way they were planning on going forward anyway, especially given the events of Ragnarok and Infinity War and how well those characters work together.

I would love nothing more than for Thor to join the Guardians for Vol 3; at least for part of the film. He's got to be wanting to find the rest of his people; maybe there's places that he simply can't get too with his new hammer?


My only concern (for a full feature) is that he'd maybe steal the limelight a little from the Guardians. I would like for him to leave with them at the end of Avengers 4 or something, and then as stated, be with them for part of Vol 3 before going off to do his own thing; maybe finding Korg in the process? Depending what happens with Banner/Hulk (if there's a split) Hulk could join them too?

Thor was a secondary character until Ragnarok and Infinity War, he seems to be just now coming into his own.
