I can't believe reviews for this are even moderately positive. The trailer made this movie look like an absolute catastrophe. How badly did it misrepresent the movie?

I must ask you guys what your opinions are about Ella Enchanted. Is that film insulting to kids too? Does it look incredibly unfunny and stupid?
Or is it an entertaining and fun little fantasy film?

It's been years since I last saw it, but I enjoyed it back then. I assumed Mirror Mirror would be like, but it sounds like they didn't go for that/tried and failed. Another film I liked was Stardust.

Ella Enchanted is much better. Its trailers weren't exactly good either, but it did the fractured fairy tale aspect better than Mirror Mirror did.

It's just that I get a couple of Ella Enchanted vibes from the Mirror Mirror trailer. Hope you will forgive me.

I saw the employee screening of this last thursday and I actually really enjoyed it. Roberts was alright, and was actually convincingly evil in a few scenes. I especially loved her performance as her reflections (I thought their whole interpretation of the mirror was really clever). and armie hammer was hilarious in this, this guy is going places. and I found Lily Collins very likable in this, charming even. and most of the things people were comlaining (the puns and the pop culture references) didn't even make it to the film. I don't know if they were cut out or just added into the trailer by whoever ran the marketing, in any case whoever did run the marketing should be fired, he did a dreadful job advertising this movie. I found the movie surpringly clever, i actually really liked the script. reminded me of the princess bride in several instances.
