Is the OP for real?

The best fight in this movie was the subway fight after Peter is bit at Oscorp, imo....

j/k...they're both tied.

Speaking of which does any have a youtube link for the VFX Making of the Hallway scene from Popular Mechanics?

I still say the train scene is better and my fave but the school fight was done well and is a close second for me.

The only really great thing about the high School fight is that it confirms that Spidey is about the most visually exciting superhero to be put on film. He's no more agile in this sequence than in any of the best of the Raimi fights. It's simply that this fight is more close quarters than the Raimi fights with a much larger opponent (Even tighter than the bank fight with Ock) so he'd have to slip and slide alot more. But it was definitely the coolest sequence in the film. And BTW- I really liked Andrew's quipping here- but still doesn't top "Here's your change!".
In the overall, the stakes were far- far greater in the train fight. So many more lives were at stake and Spidey had to be wary of protecting them while defending himself against Ock.

Spider-Man is inhenretly cooler when he's fighting in New York.

It's hard to gauge, but I went with the school fight.

The train fight is awesome - don't get me wrong - and is the best fight in Raimi's trilogy. And it has a lot more going on than the school fight: speeding train, civilians, etc; but I think I enjoyed the school fight more because of one simple fact: it felt like I was watching a Spider-Man comic book come to life more than the train fight. The way Spidey moves and uses his webs was just awesome to watch. It was a far smaller scale fight, sure, but that was balanced with how fun it was to watch Spidey move. It's a truly unique fight scene that captures the mannerisms and fighting style of Spidey better.

I don't get the comparison. There are fights in the comics that are like every fight in every Spidey film. Spidey has to change tactics based on whom he's fighting and what their powers are.

I felt that TASM had action sequences rather than full on fight scenes and i am sure the sequel will have full on action fights between the villains. SM2 had a better fight but the school fight was better imo

You gotta remember also that Peter doesn't particularly want to fight Dr. Connors. But introduce someone like the Goblin, and the fights will be more brutal.

Especially after Green Goblin kills Gwen Stacey.

The school fight doesn't even come close to the train fight in Spider-Man 2. I wouldn't go into TASM expecting amazing battle sequences to be honest.

The bridge wasn't a battle, just an "encounter." The sewer "battle" was another encounter followed by a great escape. The school fight was pretty neat, and then the Oscorp tower fight was cool, but nothing can compete with Spider-Man 2. In fact, I think the first fight between Peter and Harry in Spider-Man 3 was so much better than all the action in this movie combined.

I'm sorry, but that air fight scene was fake as hell. The CG was poorly-done, specially the background, consider it was a 2006 production and how much budget was given. I don't think the sequences was bad but saying that along was better than all the actions in TASM, that was bullsxxt.

SM2 for me. FAR better fight scene. That being said the school fight was great. I loved how it mirrored the first few issues of USM and when Peter didn't do the old run and hide/change into SM gag but just went right after the Lizard as he called Peter out. By the way did anyone else find it kinda odd/funny when the Lizard threw some random chemicals together and threw it at Peter like a bomb? Was anyone else reminded of a Pumpkin bomb?

I beg to differ, Ock's CGI was pretty bad IMO, even for it's time. The battle was awesome though. Can't really beat it. The school battle comes close though.

It might look bad now but that was 2004, it looked great for it's day, and a marked improvement over SM1.

These two fights aren't even in the same league of each other.

Train fight wins by 10 miles.

And Spidey (I won't even mention the Lizard) looked completely fake in the school fight. When he starts "moving like a spider" as folks keep touting, he starts moving like a cartoon character. It was in fact as easy to spot as the armored car robbery in Spidey 1. I don't mind, because I've never been fooled by CG and in fact like the way CG looks. But the school fight doesn't look any more real than anything in the Raimi films.

And regarding what someone mentioned about Peter not going and hiding to change- he didn't need to. Everyone who he was in danger of revealing himself to had fled.

Well obviously it was "fake as hell." But it was a darn cool fight. A lot of CGI in the film was unfinished, but I'm assuming it was due to the fact they spent most of the budget on the sandman (a wasted villain). And once again, the fight was still more intense than any of the battles in TASM.

It looked bad to me in 04 as well, but much more today obviously. The cgi ock model animation/renders instantly reminded me of the Horrendously animated people falling off the titanic deck at the time I seen it.

Train fight wins because of length and the stakes that were at risk.

The school fight is awesome, but not as awesome, because of how much Spider-Man actually moved like a spider!

LOL at comparing the train scene to a goofy school fight!

SM2's train fight scene is obviously better!

The school fight by a margin.

I loved the train fight, definitely had better action and cooler scenes but seeing the way Spidey moved in the school fight was just a spectacle.

And the cocooning, my lord the cocooning, it was amazing seeing that, reminded me so much of this:

That fight was truly straight out of a comic.

Agreed. I liked the scope of it. To me, the train fight is one of the best action sequences in a comic book film.
