And I actually was dumb enough to fall for it.
That is still one hell of a poster!

Gentleman, i can only thank you for a really fun ride. I Was't here at the beggining, i lost the teaser, the perma-white debates, the leaked set pics, but what i catch, i enjoyed very much.
For me, whe are a brotherhood, a group of people, an army, reunited by the love for the complex universe created in ''Detective Comics 28'' by Bob Kane.
And how can we look back at all the highs and lows of TDK without giving credit to the only SHH! organization to make the Why So Serious funny papers. (It's true, we inspired one of Joker's jokes in theHaHaHaTimes) - THE SONS OF CRIPSIN'S FATHER.
TEH KNIGHTS OF TEH HYPE! LULZ!
GoogleMe94 realized he sucks and the Mustache thread was killed by Morg. I lost like 175 posts because of that. That was the greatest thread ever to exist.
Gordon: I never got to say mustache.
Batman: And you'll never have too.
GOD! That was a great night.
FTMFW!
Seriously, those were some of the greatest times and threads ever. TSOCF will forever pwn life and the mustache thread is a classic. A CLASSIC.
I also remember when we tried to create a Wikipedia pages for TSOCF and TEOL but they kept taking them down.
And then of course there's this:

All classics. Good times at the Hype.![]()
Paul Bettany...forgot about that rumor.
I was interested in Batman Begins leading up to it, I bought "the official movie guide" and between Nolan and Goyer's comments, and the cast like Christian Bale, Liam Neeson, Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman, Gary Oldman, Cillian Murphy, etc., who I all thought highly of, it seemed like it was gonna be different from the previous movies and actually more like how Batman was supposed to be. When I saw it in the theater, at first I had my doubts, because I was a little disoriented by all the flashbacks and chronological jumping around and the training in the Himalayas stuff, not knowing how it was all gonna come together, and I remembered being relieved when he went back to Gotham City and it settled into a more recognizable "Batman movie" (now that I know how the story goes, I love all the beginning stuff too). I had had my doubts about Caine as Alfred for some reason, love Caine just for some reason he didn't seem like an Alfred to me, but he won me over almost instantly when I saw the movie and he was one of my favorite supporting cast members. Other first theater impressions I remember were the chill I got when Falcone was trying to blackmail Crane, and Crane was just sitting there completely still and unblinking as the camera slowly closed in on him, and I actually initially thought Katie Holmes was perfectly fine. I think I was just happy and excited enough to not judge her harshly, because she has since gotten more irritating to me with each viewing.
I have followed every scrap of news about the sequel ever since. I remember all the speculation about what the name was going to be, than finding out it was The Dark Knight, I remember all the rumors, all the talk about Lachy Hulme for The Joker, Bob Hoskins or Philip Seymour Hoffman as Penguin, Karl Urban as Black Mask, Talia Al Ghul, Brad Dourif as Jeremiah Arkham, James Gandolfini as Maroni, Harley Quinn, I remember my dream choices for The Joker and Harvey Dent were Paul Bettany and Liev Schreiber and seeing a couple really great manips of Bettany as The Joker, than I remember I was actually depressed when I found out Heath Ledger was going to be cast. Like so many other people I had my "wtf" period where I was like "Heath Ledger??" and didn't see what was remotely the slightest bit Joker-ish about him. I was also pretty "meh" when I found out Eckhart was gonna be Dent, because I was all for Schreiber as Dent and didn't really know anything about Eckhart.
I remember all the "sources" saying The Joker would wear ragged, stitched-together clothing instead of the purple suit, and he would have gray skin with scarring, and I remember that fake manip of Heath Ledger with the scars all over his face and hoping that wasn't real.
I remember being so excited about the virals starting, with the website that gradually revealed the first picture of Heath Ledger as The Joker. I remember my first impression was that it was really creepy looking but looked too morbid and not Joker-ish, but I also remember arguing with people that it was just a test shot, he wasn't smiling or in character, or moving or talking, and it wasn't enough for us to jump to conclusions about. I remember all the rumors about Batman accidentally giving The Joker a cut smile, and there being a surprise twist about him turning out to be perma-white after all, and meeting Harley Quinn in the end.
Accepting Heath was a gradual process. I thought his comments about the character and Nolan's were pretty spot-on and it seemed like they got the jist of how The Joker was supposed to be, I liked all Nolan's comments about The Joker being a force of destruction who just tears through the movie. I also really liked all of Aaron Eckhart's comments about Harvey Dent/Two-Face and thought he seemed like he really "got it", and I was really glad his description of Two-Face sounded very close to The Long Halloween.
I remember the teaser trailer and finding it hard to believe that was actually Heath Ledger talking. Then I remember the first full trailer and being impressed with the first full-fledged Joker laugh I heard and finding it hard to wrap my mind around that it was actually Heath Ledger laughing like that. I remember being more excited than ever, practically obsessively, for the second trailer, watching crappy bootlegs on youtube over and over again every day until the official release. I loved it more than the first one, and was liking Heath in it. My last lingering doubts about Heath being too dark and serious and neglecting the flippant, humorous side of The Joker were pretty much eliminated in the TV spot where Batman says "let her go", and The Joker says "ooh, very poor choice of words, HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!". The others where he says "never start with the head, the victim gets all fuzzy", and the "aggressive expansion" one, and the slow, drawn-out laugh, are the most pure Joker bits I have seen yet. I also remember one of the bits from the TV spots I was most excited about was when I found out there was going to be a rooftop meeting between Batman, Dent, and Gordon.
I remember coming home from work and hopping on the computer, and as soon as the default Yahoo homepage came up, there was the front news story: Heath Ledger Found Dead. My mom was the other person in the house at the time, and for a second I didn't even want to tell her, but then I called "Mom?" and when she said "what?", I just said "Heath Ledger died", and remember it was one of the most distinct times in my life I really really didn't want to have to say the words that came out of my mouth.
