Infinity War "That Up There... That's The Endgame." - The Robert Downey, Jr. / Iron Man Thread

Loved how flexible and powerful the new suit was depicted, Russos made up for Tony's underwhelming show in Civil War

So now he's basically immortal ?

No, it was an active action on his part and nothing that looks like it would work like a general healing factor. He'd be dead if they hadn't stopped Thanos from striking the killing blow after he had his little speech of respect. I also think he'd be dead if the stab was to any major organ, instead of just the side of the stomach.

Basically an advanced version of a med kit.

Agreed, the variations of all kinds of defensive/offensive capabilities was GREAT.

This aspect was a huge improvement.

For all the crazy moments in this movie, I’m surprised by how much I was shook by his scene with Thanos.

Gotta love that the whole film wasn't about him. It was pretty evenly handed (with exception of Cap) with the screentime

The new suit was a highlight of the film to me, Iron Man had the best action scenes in this.

I must say this is the Iron Man I've always been waiting for in terms of action and power displays. Honestly his action scenes were cooler than Doctor Strange's to me, who was a close second behind Iron Man.

Iron Man and Strange stole the show. While Thor had that one scene towards the end, the first two got more chances to show off. Loving the new design and tools on this suit, feels like the first time the suit has had any serious changes since Avengers. Can't wait to see what he's packing for A4.

Yes they did I agree, Thor didn't have any full fledged fight scenes in this movie.

But I'll take his feats over having drawn out action scenes anyday, as a Thor fan.

In regards to Tony:
The Russos and RDJ delivered a really solid performance and characterization that pulled together a few disparate threads that had been leading up to IW and they did it pretty damned solidly. Tony here is the haunted hero teamed up with an eager squire and a wizened sorcerer who in his own way sees the bigger picture beyond what even Tony is capable of. They REALLY knocked it out of the park with Peter and Tony's interactions though making me shake my head in disbelief at all the Spidey fans that were offended by Tony's inclusion in HOMECOMING. Downey was so much more than cool line readings and quips in this and it was very effective. RDJ was compelling even when he was quiet. They left Tony in quite the pickle but he's done a lot and he's marooned someplace with a lot more resources than a cave with a box of scraps. Tony will be key in the next film I am sure.

So good to see how many new ideas they came up with for Iron Man suit powers.

For some reason I was thinking [blackout]Captain Marvel would be saving him and bringing him back to Earth but I prefer your comment, implying he gets himself home[/blackout] - very nice!

I'm not the biggest Stark fan but I thought he was fantastic here. Need more Stark/Strange in my life haha

Is there a
ship belonging to GOTG they could use ? Did they show that ship being destroyed by the moon debris ?

The new suit seemed almost too magical to me. I know it’s nanotech but it looked like it was creating things out of thin air. Not that we will get more Iron Man sequels any time soon but I see no reason for him to upgrade any more.

I miss the old badass robotic sound effect tbh.

I also loved those old sounds...

I thought I saw parts of the armour shift (opening up in parts, to provide additional material for a weapon. Just asked my Wife and kids, they thought so too...

Perhaps but it was Transformers mechanics.

Honestly can't remember but possibly
both the Guardians and Nebula's ship is there...

I'm trying to remember, only seen it once and probably won't be able to go to the theater again for at least a week but...

Did anyone give Tony the talk about the snap and Thanos goal? I know Gamora tells Thor and the other Guardians but does that info ever get relayed to Tony and if so, by whom?

Cause I'm thinking he's not told, and if so, then Thanos saying "half of humanity will survive" and then what happens at the end would have been unexplained for Tony.

There's plenty of time for Nebula to explain it to Stark. Her reaction to everyone disappearing and saying "He did it..." leads us to believe that she knew what he was capable of just as well as Gamora did.
