Comics The '07 X-Event: Endangered Species, Messiah Complex, & Disassembled

i really don't like this whole sinister being dead thing. i'll say it again, i think he was way too powerful to be taken out. sure he couldn't read mystique's mind but he's too smart to not count on mystique betraying him. plus i feel like he barely did anything significant in the storyline, just sat back and cackled menacingly. we haven't seen the guy in years and he comes back in a big way and instead of utilizing his amazing potential as a longterm villain they kill him in his first major storyline in years. i just think that was a waste of one of marvel's best villains.

Best villains? PLEASE!!! Marvel's best villains are Doom, Kang, the Green Goblin, Ultron and Magneto, and Magneto isn't even a villain really. Sinister doesn't even ener Marvel top's 10. What did he ever do other than keep an eye on the Summers???

Sinister is great for several reasons. First of all, he's a complete sociopath with an incalculably high intelligence; he's like Hannibal on crack.

The fact that he has set up so many fail-safes to keep him and his Marauders alive(or cloned in the case of the Marauders) means they will never stop or go away; they can only be pushed back.

The character himself is fascinatingly screwed up in the head. He's a repressed Victorian era scientist with a pathological fixation on procreation and control. He's apparently asexual, but has developed disturbing fixations on at least two of the X-men(who happen to look a lot alike).

Long story short, he doesn't tend to turn into an uber soft memory of a villain once every few years (MAGNETO).

And since he isn't used as often, he also doesn't get dragged into stupid storylines that make him look ridiculous, like what happened to Apocalypse and Magneto.

Wait.....

X-Men Unlimited 30, that was a pretty stupid move by Sinister... I'm just saying that in the larger Marvel tapestry, Sinister is nothing compared to other villains. He is far below Marvel's Greatest Villains

And what we're saying that Sinister is probably the best villain the X-Men have left.

Because the two most famous (Poccy and Mags) have been decimated over the years by horrid stories.

Well, Magneto has had his ups and downs, just like all comic characters, though he is still undoubtedly their best villain. But I would like to see Sinister presented on the same level...

As for Apocolypse, he, unfortunately, has been in nothing but s*** stories since AoA, so until a good writer comes along and figures out how to make him interesting, he will forever be doomed to suck.

that's what i loved. for some reason every writer on any x-men title showed enough restraint to keep the sinister stories to a minimum, leaving him as the one of the last viable enemies the x-men have who can actually serve as a threatening antagonist. with apocalypse out of the picture and magneto temporarily off the playing field, sinister stood positiioned to be the x-men's greatest threat for the long haul. a wasted opportunity.

good point. the guy did come back from being completely obliterated by cyke's blast.

Seriously, "Sinister's Death" should be something epic. Not a headlock then a push.

But whats done is done.

Ok, what if Sinister planned it all along and is just doing this to get inside and take over Rogue's body (kinda like Raz and Talia'al Ghul) in order to make super mutant babies with Gambit for a change, Instead of Scott

Well with Messiah Complex coming to wrapping up, let me first say that it's been a great ride. Hopefully the last issue doesn't disappoint.

Gambit and Mystique were in on it the whole time just like we all thought. I actually enjoy twist a whole lot. I think it's safe to assume that Sinister isn't really dead. I just don't see a major villain dying so easily like that even though I laughed at how it happened.

Looks like the last issue is just going to be an all out brawl with the Baby stuck in the middle. Can't wait.

Quick question. After this story is over, I'm thinking of continuing along with the purchase of the X-titles. Messiah Complex did a great job of bringing me back to the X-Universe. What title would I have to collect to continue along with Gambit/Rogue's story? Have the teams been announced for each book yet?

Yea, I sort of think that it's possible Sinister has somehow possessed Rogue. I'm not sure if that's in line with his powers or not, but then, Sinister usually can do whatever is convenient to the story. If it is the case that Sinister is dead, then it was an awful waste of a villain for this story. That said, I actually thought it was pretty bad-ass how Mystique took Sinister out, even if it was unbelievable.

You'd have to pick up X-Men: Legacy (which will continue from Carey's current X-Men book, at least as far as numbering goes) to follow Rogue and Gambit. Other than that, no team announcements yet, really, as far as I know.

That would be X-Men: Legacy.

Ok so X-Men: Legacy it is.

I actually thought the badass moment in the issue was seeing Wolverine get shot in the eye.

Heh for the simple fact that one moment the man is giving orders and telling everyone not to hold back and the next...he's missing an eyeball.:woot:

I feel the same way. I'm seriously considering picking up an X-title when this is all over. It'll probably end up being UXM since that's the core X-title.

You don't want to do that. Bru's X-men isn't exactly a masterpiece. I'd suggest Warren Elis' Astonishing.

This is absolutely nothing wrong with Brubaker's Uncanny issues.
