Comics The '07 X-Event: Endangered Species, Messiah Complex, & Disassembled

yeah...they are really pushing hepzibah as a viable character

I say bah to Hepzibah or whatever she's called. Bring back Magma and Sunspot!

Yeah Hepzibah can **** off.... Iceman needs a prominant position!!!!

With Cyclops, Beast and Angel all be a part in MC, there is no reason to leave Iceman out, he's one of the original five!

Neither are Longshot, Juggernaut, Mimic or Karima. It's nothing new to have non mutants on these teams.

But none of these have ever been prominent characters. It's a bit jarring for a mainstream hero to get deeply involved in mutant affairs.

Longshot was on the X-teams for years, through at least a couple of their other crossovers, and is most known for his time on them, Juggernaut is one of their most recognizable villains and his addition to the team was pretty high profile, and Karima is going to be just as involved as Hepzibah, just likely on the other side. She's on the team, it's not like she's just going to sit back and go "Oh, I'm not a mutant, I'll just let you all handle it" and just file her nails for the whole story. Not including her would be make less sense than including her.

the problem myself and others have is how prominent she is on the cover. Coudlnt she be in the background or something? She takes up quite a bit of room there and bottom center no less. She isnt that big of a character to warrant it

THe last time I can remember Longshot being in a core title was in 91. He's either in limbo or a third-rate book no one reads ever since.

Juggernaut is a famous villain, but as an X-man, he's barely on the radar.

Karima was wasting away in limbo before Carey made an effort to save the character.

None of them can really be said to be anything above a mid-level B-lister (except Jugs who gained fame as a villain and not an X-man)

Longshot used to be up front and center back in the day as well. he was prominently featured...and its because of that that we remember him now. same for Marrow, Maggot and Cecilia Reyes and just about every other new character to the x-teams. they get their shine on and if the fans like them, they stick around, if not, well...they get sent to the weapon x gas chambers and dealt with

Longshot really wasnt prominetly featured in the X-men. He was never a lead character during his run and probably did the least and had the least material out of everyone on his team during his stay. Probably the biggest thing that his character had going for him was the triangle with Dazzler and Rogue which was barely featured. All the stuff with Mojo, Spiral, etc... which are most closely linked with the character happened outside his time as a member of the X-men. He was just a body with no real story while he was an X-man. Thats exactly why he left the team

True, but me saying "and she's not even a mutant" was an after-thought more than anything. I think she sucks, and if that's not enough, she's not even a mutant...if I liked her character, I'd be able to ignore the fact that she's not even a mutant. This x-over is supposed to focus on the mutant-specific issue of extinction. I think her entire place in the books lately has been random...and the bad type of random. Of all the characters worth bringing out of Limbo for a big event, she's one of the last on my list. Make Tigra an X-Man before you try to make Hepzibah decent. The Shi'Ar and Starjammers are ok in small doses...i.e. space stories once every decade or so, but nothing more.

Just for the record, I'm on the 'Hepzibah is meh' side of this argument.

Really, I can't be the one with the feeling that her sole purpose is for Warpath to get some, right?

they could have brought back Dani Moonstar for that

Don't you think that would've been a pretty racist thing to do?

Wait, this is Marvel, who married Storm to Black Panther because they're both African(despite being from nearly *opposite* sides of the continent). Nevermind.

whats so racist about it? i mean obvious marketing ploy and stereotypical..but it can also be conventional and traditional

Cyclops and jean are both white..so is Emma who Cyclops is with now

Havok and Polaris...both white

reed and sue...i can go on and on

Luke Cage and...oh wait ;)

i see nothing wrong with getting two characters of the same ethnicity together...as long as the story makes sense...unlike the Storm and BP crapola....

Storm and Forge were cool together, but i believe claremont said it himself, they broke up and moved on....

so if they were to bring in Dani for James...that'd be cool...even though Risque (who was half cuban half native american, forget which tribe) was a MUCH better choice for him.

and yes Darth...i totally feel like Hepzibah is here for Warpath to stroke the *****.

What the hell is racist about that? Just bc they are two Native Americans? Dani and Proudstar have a history together. They flirted around each other back in the New Mutant days and there was a definite attraction. They were close friends in X-foce and I wanted them to finally push forward with a relationship then. There would be nothing racist about Brubaker putting them together especially since the foundation is already there

I was just looking for an excuse to bash Marvel for the Storm/BP thing.

Or for the hilarity that ensues after reading each and every of Hudlin's Storm panels. Cause that's comedy gold.

One of my favorites was Sue and Ro in the final battle of the Cival War. They stood there acting like vapid cheerleaders as Herc destroyed Clor.

Ro: "Now that's a finisher!!!"

A howler, that one.

Even funnier when you picture CC cursing at the heavens after reading it. Part of CC's soul must've died or something, right?

I think we've discovered what gave him that heart attack he had last year.:woot:
