Comics The '07 X-Event: Endangered Species, Messiah Complex, & Disassembled

Dunno.
But it would be good if it is true, at least they won't have the convenient excuse 'because the Phoenix always rise' to kill her all the time.

If Jean is back with the Phoenix, we all know it for sure that she will go flame and die again.

i heard sum where that they wanted to bring back jean but not the phenoix.. is that true???

You probably saw that here - sevearl people suggested it here, but no one at Marvel has ever been quoted as saying anything like that....

Refresher question:

What are all the books in this crossover, and when does it start?

It starts on October 2007
with the following books in this crossover:
Uncanny
X-factor
New X-Men
X-Men
plus X-Men: Messiah Complex one-shot as the first chapter.

Should be interesting - the thing I assume I understand, but haven't confirmed, is that unlike other cross overs it seems like the story is told in any book regardless of characters involved... i mean are the stories centric to the book in any way - or do we still not know??????

Soooo...

Anyone want to place bets on '08's big event?

I've got twenty that says Jean gets killed again.

I'll raise you on that...but I still hope they can bring her back AND keep her alive- for a change,I like Jean and I also like the whole concept of the phoenix force, but I have so lost track of all the times she has died and come back, it's getting silly!!!:ninja:

PS: Has anyone heard for sure she is coming back??And is it happening in the Messiah Complex, you think? It would definitely solve the whole "endangered species/mutant extinction" predicament...phoenix jumpstarting evolution, etc, etc.!

It's definitely been "Hinted" at.

Puh-lease...

Marvel never confirms until they feel they can have the biggest monetary intake.

Ah, I see!I haven't read much about MC-mostly because all articles and interviews I've looked through about it are so irritatingly filled with the vaguest innuendo imaginable and so I end up feeling irked instead of informed!:(-but it did make sense the moment I heard about it!And they wouldn't confirm it-heck, they seem to confirm nothing(and deny nothing at the same time, which is so UNBELIEVABLY frustrating, isn't it?),as far as I have seen,at least!

Isn't the Skrull event the 2008 cross over event of the Marvel world - the secret invasion - that have been hyping already....

And Phoenix in MC, isn't the only "hint" that she appears in a recent Marve files thing with several other B and C listers from the Marvel universe.

The only thing that Marvel writers and editors have said about Jean are:

"There are no plans for Jean Grey/Phoenix at this time."

That's what I heard, and I'm glad for it, not interested to see Jean appear out of nowhere as some kind of drama, besides, I don't want PF come back with her at all.

Jean should just come back as the "white Phoenix" essentially back as a goddess, completely in control, as powerful as ever, and very serene. As if she was the mother goddess of mutant kind. Think of her as reaching enlightenment... "white wizard"

Most of the A-list characters are present in Uncanny and Adjectiveless, either as main characters or supporting ones, and Marvel includes New X-Men is probably because the kids need to be in this event since they stay in the mansion and have no reason not to participate in it, X-factor is sort of a branch of X-Men but since some of its members are going to be in this crossover it's reasonable to include this title, also, it might help to sell these two books.
The only one book with A-list characters which isn't included is Astonishing, but basically this one stands totally on its own, let alone has been delayed for several times, it's not wise to put it in the crossover, despite it's the top seller of all X-books.

Oh, please, no more goddess.

The goddess part aside (a title which bores me to death), I think it's not a good idea to make Jean that powerful, it never leads to anything good when the good guys are all mighty.
Let her retain some part of PF to help her have better control of her powers, but not so powerful so to destroy the balance between characters, and certainly don't make her go flip-out again.

i think she should have complete control... and be that of a goddess. Just because she'd be all powerful, doesnt mean she'd use it... hell look at uatu... he has great power and rarely uses it.

Uatu doesn't use it cause he essentially can't. And I'd rather Jean come back without the Phoenix. Making her all powerful will force her into the same trap that just about all other all powerful characters have: Writers don't know what the hell to do with them. Making them be able to do anything pretty much removes all conflict and instead of having the readers going into the story saying "Oh, how will she get out of this one!", they're saying "Oh, she can do anything, nothing to worry about." And that leads to boring and predictable stories and dropping sales and makes bringing her back a complete bomb and leaves them with no option but to kill her yet again.

soooo what your saying is she comes back and pretty much the 90's jim lee jean happens all over again? and that's not predictable? i'd rather them take a new spin on things, X-men should always be about evolving... and jean's been in a long process, and granted with a great power. her never controling it and constantly losing and gaining it back, is the redundant part...

"Don't make Jean come back as the Phoenix. It's no fun when characters have god-like powers."
"Say, did you read the new relaunch of Thor?"
"Yeah, it's awesome. He's more powerful than ever."

The whole purpose of turning Jean into Phoenix was to give the X-Men their own Thor-like character.

um not really. It was more to do with Claremont created a strong powerful female and lord knows he loves those. I doubt it came to his mind to emulate her after Thor. If that was the case, Storm would have sufficed

Even still, why do readers hate the thought of Jean coming back as the Phoenix? I mean a perfectly sane Phoenix. Not Dark Phoenix. Not "having conversations with myself" Endsong-Phoenix. I mean Jean's regular personality, maybe more bold than usual. It's not like they can make her too powerful, because we all know she has to either eat or fly face-first into a star to start altering reality.

I'd also like to remind everyone that Jean had the Phoenix stuff under control until someone *coughemmacough* drove her temporarily insane.

bc Jean as Phoenix has that stigma of dying and coming back and many feel that is overdone. They also fear her being too powerful is boring and too convenient when it comes to storytelling. At least thats what I get from people. I dont necesarily agree bc I think this points have been overexagerated. I wouldnt mind her returning as Phoenix, but Id prefer it if she didnt bc I dont think she needs it. She was powerful enough as it was without it . I dont like some cosmic force being used to explain why she's strong bc she is strong on her own
