Comics The '07 X-Event: Endangered Species, Messiah Complex, & Disassembled

I actually think the book was better off before Kyle and Yost

Agreed. I mean, just look at the new solicit. "The X-Men finally take time to get to know their students." It's like the writers finally woke up one morning and went, "Oh ****, these are supposed to be kids at a private school, aren't they? Maybe we should address the fact that the teachers play a big part in their lives." Give me a break. That's why I liked DeFillips and Weir before, they blended the action with the school like life so well.

I liked the old writers too, but just like the direction of the new writers better. They've made some decisions that I don't like, but I find I look forward to each issue a heck of a lot more than I did with the old writers, so that speaks volumes to me (especially since I seldom ever look forward to the next issue of anything).

The best X-Book out there in my opinion. Astonishing is pretty good, but it's not very original and the timing of its release is just rediculous. All it's got is a good creative team... overall I find it less enjoyable. Uncanny X-Men and X-Men feel out of the loop too (due to Uncanny having spent so long in space and X-Men being primarilly villains). X-Factor is the only one that can give it a run for its money. Good stuff, but New X-Men actually makes me care about what happens with the characters. I find the stories the most interesting and the characters the most relatable.

Couldn't agree more dude

QFT! lol

Never, if I recall correctly. Perhaps he's mistaking one of the characters for another?

No I'm not mistaking anyone.
Waaaay back in Uncanny #250 during the X-Men in Australia era they had to pass through an object called the Seige Perilous. They did not know what would happen to them after passing through it, but they went through some changes. Colossus lost his memory and adopted the life of an artist calling himself Peter Nicholaus. Mystique's physical appearence was changed and she became a model or something. Peter became infatuated with her and persued her and they eventually developed a relationship. When the X-Men discovered what had happened to him they decided to let him have a chance at a normal life and left him and Mystique to go their own way. He even made a guest appearance in a few issues of Web of Spider-man as Peter Nicholaus. What ended up happening was in Uncanny #279 while under the influence of the Shadow King, he tried to kill Prof. X and Cecilia Reyes. Charles eventually freed Peter's mind and he returned to the team. This relationship was mentioned again in Uncanny #325.

Ok, yeah, now I know what you're talking about, and you're definitely mistaking Mystique for Callisto.

Piotr emerged in a loft in Manhattan, naked and virtually amnesiac. The loft belonged to Phillip Moreau and Jenny Ransome, Genoshan emigrants, who did not recognize Piotr from their earlier meeting as they had only seen him in armored form.

Utilizing his creative talent, he set up a new life for himself as an American painter in Soho, calling himself Peter Nicholas and soon became quite famous. Piotr also became romantically involved with Callisto around this time, who had been altered by Masque with the features of a beautiful model. "Nicholas" was almost completely unaware of his powers and his past with the X-Men, though he did encounter a number of faces from his past including X-Factor and Banshee and Forge, who were searching for the missing X-Men. Since Piotr seemed happy in his new life, they left him alone. If they would need him later on, they would know how to find him. [Uncanny X-Men #259-260, X-Factor #54, Uncanny X-Men #262-264]

Kinda makes sense they would want to know their students....and even if they didnt really care you would think the whole Nimrod thing would have woke them up....

This was YEARS before Cecilia Reyes entered into an X-Book. you're talking late 80s, Cecilia was a Lobdell creation of the late 90s

You are good on those little details my friend, I just checked, it was Stevie Hunter; My Apologies.:o

are they sure that was Callisto?

cuz she is well, ugly and she was ugly BEFORE the siege perilous.

The model was Dazzler, was it not? not Callisto
Callisto's looks were changed I think by Masque I'll have to look that one up.

Yeah, that was Callisto, not Mystique. THAT's the relationship they mentioned in UXM #325.

Hey. I was just wondering who you guys think has the messiah complex in the upcoming crossover? I have a suspicion it's quicksilver after what Doc Samson said about him in issue 13 of X-Factor. Could that be an indicator?

I defiently think it will be Pietro. This story is being promoted as being the climax to Wanda uttering the words "No More Mutants" No other character is more intertwined in that than Pietro. He was at the center of that all and it only makes sense that it comes full circle again with him.

Yer I agree. I'm really hyped for this story I juts hope I'm not disappointed. I love the way it says the X-men will be unified, that hasn't happened in a long time.

Doesn't that beam of fire look like Jean? I mean, last time we saw her, she battled the X-Men in the artic and that's where the beam is coming from. I'm pretty sure that Jean is going to make a return (I'm almost positive that I read about plans for her resurrection, but I thought that writers said it would be without the Phoenix?)

Can anyone comment on what's happening with Jean lately? Does anyone one is there's a chance she'll be invovled in this x-over?

Plus, that would be a reasonable explanation for Cyclops to step up and give Mr. Sinister a big role.

Jean isn't returning. Joe Q has flat out said she's not coming back and it was a mistake to revive her the first time.

I thought that there was an interview where it said there were plans to revive her without the Phoenix.

She's a great character and her revival could shake things up with Cyclops and Emma.

Cyclops and Jean need to STAY split up. If she comes back and they get put together, that would be the dumbest and most unoriginal move I've ever encountered. Whats the pointof them being together NOW?

^Yeah, because I thought I saw an interview as well a while back saying Jean would come back.
