Comics The '07 X-Event: Endangered Species, Messiah Complex, & Disassembled

No one said it's a core book either. Just an X-book. We already know that C&D is getting canned for Cable, which apparently has something to do with MC as well. That easily fulfills the criteria right there.

Plus Cable and Deadpool was selling around 90th place - it makes perfect sense and it matches ALL the articles I've see.

Adjectiveless are you kidding me? Marvel's 6th highest subscribed comics is just gonna disappear and 17th highest selling in the world... doubtful.

But there's nothing been said about that where another book has to die for it to start. If anything, because of that I'd be more likely to believe that it's New that bites it and spreads out the students, because I'd be surprised to see Yost and Kyle give X-23 up so easily unless they didn't have a book to put her in.

Exactly, and minus Cable and Deadpool of the X-books, new X-Men has been selling around 52 place and is typically lower than X-Factor the last 6 months... and X-23 is being added to X-Force which doesn't mean she can't be in other books, but if they want to play it that way - that again gives evidence toward New X-Men.

Nothing at all hints at Adjectiveless.

No, he distinctly mentioned that Adjectiveless is ending. PM UncannyAsianGirl at CBR for details.

I created an account and sent the PM, let's wait and see if there is a source.

It's a pretty cool board over there some of you should consider joining to experience some new opinions.

Ive never considered Exiles to be an X-book

Well Excalibur and Exiles both sell around the 85 mark so I imagine neither will last that much longer - they are fairing just slightly better than Cable and Deadpool and looks like that book got the boot - so there time will come if creative team changes can't reinvigorate sales.

I don't think C&D is getting axed because of its selling rank so much as because of what's happened with the characters. If it was going to get axed for low-selling numbers, it would've gotten axed well before its 25th issue, because I'm pretty sure it's always been a low-selling book.

Rather, they're giving Cable a solo, and Deadpool will be getting his solo. It's not so much C&D getting axed as the two star characters moving into their own books. Or C&D phasing into the Deadpool book. Or whatever.

Totally agree, I just cant see that happening......

you people seem to forget that X-23 is Logan with a vagina(something he has always wanted)...and and toe blades....and like Father/Clone...like Daughter/clone....meaning she can be on a million other teams, carry two solo books and still be there for attendance check in New X-Men

I don't think cancelling any title will make much difference, people pick comics according to characters they like or dislike, I would focus more on which characters will remain and which ones to go, because I will go for the titles which has my favorite characters after they reassemble the new line-ups no matter what title gets cancelled and drop the ones without those characters.
An inevitable choice for someone like me who can't afford all the X-books.

Well here is what I got for you guys!

Canemacar, eh? I hope he hasn't spoken ill of me there. :p I know that ProfeZZor X mentions me from time to there too...

As for information on X-Men's cancellation, I was told by Mike Carey himself, both in person (I've got a photo of me meeting Mike) and via email, but there's no way to prove that for sure unless I forward my email conversation, and I'm pretty sure he wouldn't appreciate that. :o So you'll just have to take my word for it. However, I have posted bits and pieces of my email conversations online, both on this board and Comixfan (I go by UniAniGi there).

Or maybe you don't have to have my word to go on alone. There's an ample amount of interviews hinting at X-Men's impending cancellation, starting with X-Position #11 on this site. Specifically, question #5.
X-Position/Faded said:
5) Mike, I believe you said on a previous edition of X-POSITION, “Humberto and Chris are going to alternate on X-Men for the whole of my run.” Have plans changed now that Ramos will be on “Runaways” and Bachalo will be on “Amazing Spider-Man” for an arc? If so, who will the new artists be and what does that statement mean for your future on the “X-Men”?
Mike Carey said:
Hmm. Good question, which is hard to answer right now. Plans have changed, because the shape of the X-verse after “Messiah CompleX” has now been planned out in more detail and we know where all the pieces are going to fall. I'm still going to be writing an X-book, but I can't be specific right now about exactly how that's going to work. There will be an announcement soon.
Instead of saying, "I'm still going to be writing X-Men", he said, "I'm still going to be writing an X-Book."

So, although he didn't flat-out say it, he did imply it.

We've found out what that X-Book would be earlier this month, from the article titled "Messiah Coming"; it's a maxi series solo/loose team up of sorts featuring a character who's been around practically since the beginning, and has never had his/her own solo before. The cast so far has been unrevealed, but most clues seem to be pointing at Xavier, and Rogue's been implicated to end up in this series as well (and maybe Gambit). Magneto's also another character that could show up, since if Xavier does indeed find him in this current arc of Uncanny or during Messiah Complex, he'd probably stay in his company by crossover's end, most likely with the Acolytes in tow. It's also been said that this title might have the chance to achieve ongoing status. Most likely, the criteria is how well this book sells. Personally, I hope it sells well to insure that Mike will continue writing an X-book. :o

I know it doesn't make sense to be cancelling the title and coming out with a bunch of new books in its place (X-Force and whatever Mike's new series is going to be called), but that's where all the arrows seem to be pointing, Nick Lowe's, "who said there's even going to be an X-Men after this (Messiah Complex)" is also extremely suspect.

What they seem to be doing is streamlining the main X-titles, keeping Astonishing for Ellis, and making Uncanny the official flagship title. Rumor has it that it'll ship two times a month. There's no real proof for this though, it's mainly common fan speculation.

As for X-Factor and New, while they do sell far less than X-Men, they are both very unique from the "main" X-Titles in terms of structure, purpose and mission. It's been confirmed that X-Factor will indeed be around post-crossover, since PAD said that his cast will be losing one character and gaining another ( I don't remember where he said this though), and from a few of the latest interviews, we know that the character he's losing is Rahne, to X-Force.

New X-Men's future is also uncertain, since Craig Kyle and Chris Yost haven't said anything yet about this title's future, but it's rumored that they're going to write X-Force since they're taking their creation there (X-23). But rather than being cancelled, it's more likely to be revamped with a new creative team, and renamed yet again to New Mutants.

I'm sorry I couldn't show you anything concrete, my hands are sorta tied in that regard. I know all I've given are a bunch of rumors from other fans, but they do add up.

Hope this clears things up. :D

And in regards to this poster here is what I found from other people:

You won't find anything official from Marvel in writing. However, some fans have talked to Mike Carey via email and in person when he was on his book tour. These fans, including Uncanny Asian Girl, have proven to be reliable and not rumor spreaders. Hints that have been dropped by Marvel, including dodging questions about artists for future issues of X-Men and such, make many of us think that particular title is indeed going away.

I would just trust UAG and her word.

You'll know she's reliable through experience. ;)

Note that the title going away doesn't necessarily mean that the book is going away. It may just mean 'new title, new #1, same book'.

However, it doesn't sound as if Carey will be writing it. That's rather depressing to contemplate. I hope his maxi series sets records sales and forces Marvel to their senses.

I checked up on this person and everything they've posted to date has been very accurate over their post history. Maybe they do know what they are talking about - and maybe it's just a title change something more deceptive than we are thinking. Well I'll let you guys weigh in.

It's not saying that she's unreliable to say that she's speculating and grasping at straws that might or might not be there.

Unfortunately, using Carey as an "anonymous source," more or less, to say that it's Adjectiveless being canceled isn't entirely useful. Of course, the fact that she's willing to leak his name and that he did indeed say that, but just can't quote it, is bad enough if it's getting around, since he's probably not supposed to talk about it, and it's unprofessional if he is. In which case, she might as well just quote him, since the same damage is done. And the fact that she won't quote him, thus, is overly eyebrow-raising.

Of course, I'm being deliberately skeptical.

But the main piece of presented evidence is used out of context at best, and stupidly at worse. If Carey isn't writing X-Men after Messiah Complex ends, it doesn't mean by default that the book is ending. He could, oh, I don't know, simply not be writing X-Men anymore, for whatever reason. Contracts do expire, and Marvel/DC do move writers between books.

Whoever wins this one gets to point and laugh this spring. :D

Beware, Bastardo. Specter too, right? Oh well. ;)

Quite a few of us thinking Joseph Hubber. Isolationist.

He *did* say he wanted all mutants dead. Maybe Sins will off him?

Why?
He looks more freakish than most of mutants.

Don't read X-Factor, eh?

Dunno, the guy seemingly can hear all mutants only his psychic switch is faulty. Oh, he can replicate powers. And wants to stage a mutant massacre cause he can't kill them himself. Had a kid try to murder Layla, too.

I agree. I thought at one point his eyes were red too, so I think this is most likely.

Does anyone have a scan of the cover of Wizard Mag 193 (Messiah Complex issue) it has a great drawing of Rogue and Mystique

marud1.gif

THE MARAUDERS
The X-Men have found themselves under siege of late not only from familiar foes, but once-trusted friends as well. The Marauders combine the worst of both worlds, with former teammates like Gambit, Mystique and Sunfire standing shoulder to shoulder with sworn enemies Exodus, Random and Scalphunter.

“Gambit is going back to his roots in the worst possible way,” laments X-Men writer Mike Carey. “Hanging with Sinister and the Marauders—it’s like ‘Mutant Massacre’ all over again, except this time he’s got a really twisted agenda that’s all his own.”

Is it just me...or is Rogue's left boob a lot smaller than the right on that cover?
