Comics The '07 X-Event: Endangered Species, Messiah Complex, & Disassembled

I reallllllly don't want anyone to die. And about ol' Scott, I've been liking him more than ever as of late, I'd hate to see him die. Frankly I'm getting tired of all the rampant hero killing these days, it's ridiculous. :\

How are you going to kill a character who carries the meaning of X-Men?

Besides, Scott's in Uncanny X-Men after MC.

My problems with Cyclops are two-fold-- I don't know why he is being such a jerk to Xavier, I mean, the good Xavier did far outweighs the bad, and Xavier hasn't been anywhere near as bad as he could be (not that I think Xavier really did anything wrong).

Really where have you been the last 10 years now? When Xavier has been pretty much crossing the line left and right? Xavier used to be the figure head of X-Men, but lately he has become nothing but a figment of the past... they've been building up his WRONGS for some time.

Bastard is being himself. no harm is meant by his vinegary words. I dont think. he is right about Cyclops. HE is the damn leader now. No Xavier, no co-leadership with Storm. deal with it people. It's what he was MEANT to become.

Agreed!

Also--and this is coming from someone who loves Emma and the Emma/Cyclops pairing-- Cyclops goes out with Emma. Let that sink in for a little.

My other problem is that if you are reading AXM, you've already read a Cyclops who is taking charge is onto just leading. Using Prof. X or (young) New X-man to have Scott verbally abuse or optic blast just to make him look good by comparison is weak writing.

Not that I want him to die. I don't know enough other X-men I even remotely care about to have anyone take his place, though I don't have to have him in my books.

First, he didn't verbally abuse Xavier, Scott was emotionally close-off from him and made it clear to the Professor, that's because Xavier wouldn't face their real problem and kept trying to go around it and argued about who's in charge (and did it in front of everyone regardless of their argument should remain private), and like Scott said, he needed to concentrate on the mission.
Second, he isn't being a jerk to Prof, his reaction is understandable. Scott was the one who was hurt most by Xavier's betrayal, the one he looked up to as a mentor and a father figure turned out to do tricks, and now he lost Corsair, his trust in Xavier and maybe a brother for this, you expect him to just hug the Professor and let bygones be bygones?

About him blasting Rockslide, I would say that kid deserved it, you don't stand in his way and dare him to move you, because he will, not to mention those kids need to be disciplined long time ago seeing how bratty and obnoxious they were in New X-Men.

Agreed. Xavier made bad decisions and Scott did the right thing in how he handled the situation.

Agreed on the Rockslide issue as well, Scott is trying to get the New X-Men to be the Young X-Men... not a bunch of dumb kids who die all the time.

Nah, Legacy isn't one big flashback. I get the vibe that there WILL be some flashbacks, especially early on, but they'll only be scene setters.

I wonder if Carey's going to have Xavier, Magneto, Rogue, and Gambit stick together, or basically tell two different tales in one book (which I think is more likely).

Gambit and Rogue chilling out with the Professor and Magnus would be different, to say the least.

Yeah, it won't be a big flashback.

If all four stick together, it'll feel contrived. Rather, I agree - it seems different stories, but not necessarily two. I'd love to see an arc sub-divided into different perspectives. That could be really well done.

And now let the whining about non-linear and fragmented storytelling commence, o' complaining men of the boards.

For some reason, I'm picturing it like a family roadtrip.

Rogue: Gambit keeps putting his arm on my side!

Gambit: She keeps calling me names!

Magneto: Stop fighting right now or I will turn this car around! Just see if I don't!

:csad: well there goes my hopes about Rogue still being a bad ass after MC.
rogue, gambit, magneto, and xavier? well, lets just hope its not a soap opera like series, though i got strong feeling that it will be. :o :o

Rogue Gambit Xavier and Magneto...four reasons for me NOT to pick this up.

You only kill a character easily when the character has no importance, like the one Predator ate in NX #45, and unlike most X-characters, Cyclops carries more responsibilties than simply being one of the X-Men, he will have to be brought back to the team eventually and why the writers would spend their time on doing this kind of thing when they should try writing some more meaningful plot?

Badass? Pardon me for not sharing the same feeling towards Rogue with you, I do think that girl needs to take some time off and chill.

Hahaha, that's exactly what's wrong with comic book deaths as of the last decade. Killing off somebody who matters is way more worthwhile. The last 9 or 10 deaths I read about got a "Who cares?" reaction from me and the general comic reading populace.

I can think of a few people capable of leading the X-Men in the event of Scott's death. I'm not sure where this "X-Men need Cyclops" business is coming from. It's not just you, I've been hearing it more and more lately

Yeah...Rogue could lead the X-Men if Cyclops dies....

But it's not up to you to decide which character should die just because you don't like them. Otherwise we'll be out of any superheroes long time ago.

Don't you know there are lots of people commenting Colossus shouldn't be brought back, but I guess you will never be one of them, right? Because he matters to you and you want to see him active.

'chill'? with xavier, magneto, and gambit?wonder how carey is gonna pull that one off.
Point is rogue fans were enjoying the change in rogue that took place in 188-200. and now it just looks like there's gonna be a lot of romy angst (again). it was cool when she was fighting and taking charge, i (along with other Rogue fans) want to see that again.
Rogue could lead the X-Men if Cyclops dies
i agree! :woot:
too bad cyclops doesnt bite the dust, i was actually hoping he would be one of the x-men to die. (should have known marvel would want to keep their x-pet)

i could tell.
Rogue Gambit Xavier and Magneto...four reasons for me NOT to pick this up.
