I haven’t seen the Dylan thing yet, but the lack of respect for Dune from these nerds is pissing me tf off.
I've seen the Dylan thing. The only remotely notable performance was Boyd Holbrook as Johnny Cash, and that's just because I couldn't stop thinking about how much more I would have liked Walk The Line with his version instead. But he's barely in this. It's an absolute nothingburger of a movie.

All I know is Anora and Conclave are much better front runners than the Emilia Perez/Brutalist combo we had a couple weeks ago. If either of these win, I'll be happy.
I liked Brutalist, but the particular choices to implement GenAI and messing with accents leaves an unpleasant taste in my mouth that leaves me not eager to see it go far, though Guy Pearce would be my personal Best Supporting Actor pick from what I've seen (not gotten to Real Pain yet).

Sean Baker seems like a person I would very much dislike on a personal level, but Anora is a no brainer to me. Give it best picture. Give it best actress. I enjoyed Dune best of the BP batch but that ain't winning so I'm all in on Anora.

Is the AI controversy hurting The Brutalist?

I doubt it. Some of it had to do with only some of his or Jones' Hungarian, which has been done before, but it wasn't a drastic alteration. Brody is still the frontrunner after all. They also had some blueprints made for the ending that were then redone by an artist, I believe. They talked about it on The Big Picture podcast but I could be misremembering. It's not as gross a usage of AI as people want to believe, but it is there.

A Complete Unknown was a good biopic, but I would agree nothing special. Chalamet was great, but I do wish Dune Part 2 got more recognition on this front cause I actually liked him more in that movie. But the Oscars favor biopics. To that end, I do think he nails Bob Dylan. But did I like him more than Fiennes in Conclave, which I watched a few days ago? No

Veronica Mars already did a better job than your beloved Conan. :sneeze:

Well, that was fun and shocking. I got 11/15 right in my predictions. As an awards show, the SAG Awards is so far the best show of the awards season. It has everything you want in an award show.

>Decent red carpet show
>Funny pre-tape cold open
>Fun opening monologue
>Showing real clips of each of the nominees (something awards shows aren't doing as well anymore)
>Showing great film montages like the LA and Scream Queen ones (shout out to Chopping Mall? lol)
>Solid bits in between the awards
>Shocking wins
>Goofs
>A wild mic drop speech

Hopefully, Conan and The Oscars can bring it like they did. And I think they will.

Seeing Demi Moore win kinda solidifies her Oscar win but also the overlap between the two award shows isn't 100%... just look at Lily Gladstone winning SAG but losing to Emma Stone at the Oscars. Mikey can still pull off a win. And the same thing with Timothée Chalamet, I don't think he'll win the Oscar even though he got SAG.

She still has to go home to Dax Shepard, so who's the real winner here? :o

For the wrong movie. :weeping:
I was surprised too. Do I think he did a good job in A Complete Unknown? Certainly. But I wouldn't say he was more deserving of the award than Brody, Fiennes or Domingo.

Emilia Perez was never a frontrunner, that was just the HFPA being dumb. :o
