Not quite. :o

I heard it's on digital, I might watch tomorrow before Elimination Chamber.

Yeah I thought it also just fine. It felt like it really wanted to be The Wrestler for Pamela Anderson, but it was missing some obvious scenes and missing a 3rd act that made it work and stand out more.

The Wrestler.

Still the most depressing movie I have EVER seen in my life. More depressing than even Iron Claw.

And what's crazy is I was watching clips of CZW at the time and so when his character showed up there I was like

Eh, I'd still give it to The Iron Claw by default because it's based on a true story. The real story of The Iron Claw was so goddamn sad that they completely removed another dead Von Erich brother from the movie.

That said, Mickey Rourke was robbed at the Oscars that year.

I hear you. Maybe it's because I knew about the Von Erich story way before the movie dropped, but for all of the tragedy in that movie, I felt like they skimmed through a lot of the story.

Now with The Wrestler, EVERY LITTLE FACET of Mickey Rourke's character's life was just FUBAR. I was literally sad for a whole 24 hours after watching it the first and only time. :csad:

In terms of the biggest upset, there are maybe two...

Flow might win best International Feature and Diane Warren might finally win Best Original Song.

Everything else is pretty settled or they have two favorites.

I mean....yeah a vast majority of current movies may be forgotten in 50 years, but Megalopolis is also not going to be remembered either

I have only a handful of nominees yet to watch. Tomorrow, an early screening of The Brutalist on Dolby and Soundtrack to a Coup d'Etat at home after. On Sunday I'm showing Flow and Nickel Boys before my Oscar party, and that's that. I have a couple of shorts to watch too, but those won't take too much time. Nickel Boys is streaming on Prime over here as of Thursday. Would've loved to see that in a theater, but no such luck.

At this point I haven't seen The Brutalist, I'm Still Here, and Nickel Boys

ngl I'm surprised it's only 4 mins long

And unsurprisingly, just like his Letterboxd top four it's all stuff I've never heard of. Would it kill him to put a Spielberg or Scorsese movie in the mix or was he watching art house films since he was a baby? :o

I've seen all of the BP nominees except I'm Still Here and Nickel Boys. I might try to check out Nickel Boys before the Oscars if I can but it'll depend on my weekend plans. I'm in no real rush to watch I'm Still Here.

Speaking of Letterboxd, quick sidebar. I was just minding my own business and rating a few films the other day, I come across Brian De Palma’s classic Dressed To Kill, and I can’t believe you only gave it two stars.

WTF Drizzy :o

Two and a half! :o

I saw that one in film class when I was in college. I don't think it's bad, two and a half is kind of lower range "average" for me. But it's also been like 15 years since I watched it so maybe that would change with a rewatch.

At least you're not like one of my friends who gave me hell for giving Master and Commander three stars. More than generous a rating for a nearly two and a half hour sausage fest on the high seas. :o
