British all the way since we all want to hear Cumberbatch's true voice and not a fake accent.
everything about this is fiction. it's all fiction...British all the way since we all want to hear Cumberbatch's true voice and not a fake accent.
They'll do british because Doctor Strange is supposed to be wise. And British people(mostly do to their accents) are thought to be incredibly wise, it's a common stereotype. But in Strange's case I think it'd work for the best.
Nah, that's Captain America's job. XDI'd rather he be a dumb American.
I'd rather he be a dumb American.
I've seen some discussion about this, so I decided to make a thread about it. Should Benedict keep his British accent for the role, or should he speak with an American accent like Strange does in the comics?
Here's a clip with Cumberbatch using an American accent, for reference:

And one where he retains his British one for Star Trek Into Darkness:

if the character is american in the comics then there is no specific reason to change that if the actor is capable of retaining it.Literally it can only be a negative for him to do an American accent, I don't care that he is an actor or that he can do an American accent, there is no specific reason for Strange to be American, in fact you know it might help broaden the MCU if not every superhero is American bar BP.
He won't be seen as Cumberbatch if he keeps the accent, at least to me. That's silly. If he does a good job of becoming the character that is Strange(which he probably will), people won't see Cumberbatch, they'll see Strange.
What I'm saying is according to your logic then the same goes for Sherlock. Maybe I didn't make clear what I meant to say, as an actor he will be seen as a certain person. When I see Robert Downey Jr. I think ironman. But when I see Cumberbatch I see Sherlock. The only way for that to change is one of two ways: Either Cumberbatch changes his accent to make it seem like he is a different person, or he plays such a great Dr. Strange that he is seen as Dr. Strange afterwards.
This is what I feel will happen in the long run. I think more people will see Strange's movie than those who viewed Sherlock, and Strange will be the role that people truly see him as. Only time will tell, though.
