"The action was great, but the plot sucked!, Movies with the Reverse

Transformers doesn't really need much of a story. How deep do people expect it to be? These are films based offf of TOYS fighting other ROBOTS. All that was back then was giant robots beating the crap out of eachother. That's exactly what we got. Sometimes you can leave your brain behind for movies. Bay does that. That's no problem. He just likes making pictures where you can just enjoy them nothing wrong with that.

But seriously, what did you expect out of it? Complexity, a deepness of plot and character? Think back to the show of the 80's or 90's. What was that about? Oh yes, giant robots beating the crap out of eachother.

I think Transformers didn't need a wonderful script to begin with. However, I do think the script itself needed some trimming (or editing). The scene at Shia's house lasted for TOO LONG.

Iron Man had a good story, but the action could've been improved.

^Because thats not the question, he is asking for the OPPOSITE...an action movie with good story but crap action....so I don't know why people are mentioning the Star Wars prequels, Godzilla remake, etc.

OMG..even I was fooled.

The question of the thread is NOT in the title!

Agreed. Now, more wouldn't have hurt but what we did get to see was intensely good.

the action is not what I prefered in IM.....I thought it was pretty meh !

The interactions between the characters (between Stark and Pepper for instance) were far better imo !

Shoot em up is the poster child for films like these as well as the transporter films and anything involving Jason Statham.

something has been pissing me off for a long time. Since when has any Godzilla movie had a good story? I can't believe people expected anymore out of a movie where the drama in last 16 movies was scream and point up. This one had better special effects, better action, and a better explanation for how Godzilla came to be.

alright I'm done ranting
I thought I was the only one.

Is my title misleading?

Cloverfield. I loved the movie, but there wasnt quite enough action.

Iron Man

LOVED the acting and dialogue, but the action....eh.

I'm surprised no one as mentioned x3 yet. Best action in the series, yet the crappiest story.

Matter of opinion. I thought X2 had better action scenes. Wolverine vs. Stryker's force is way better than Juggernaut chasing Kitty than stealing [My Way's] (yes the [] are part of the name) parodic saying.

I preferred the action in X2 because I actually gave a damn about the characters in that one.

People (not all) are just responding to the title, without actually reading your post.

I'll say Batman Begins, and I'll add some others as I think of it some more.

Yep thats what I seem to have done:o, although the OP isnt all at fault but yes that title is a bit misleading.

Very true (add all of Chuck Norris's films too & most of Arnie's) but I do have a soft spot for the Transporter series especially the first one, decent story excellent action.

The action in TDK was great, but I expected more. Mainly the actual fight scenes, it just seemed so scripted, people were falling over before they got hit and stuff like that, especially the HK scene. The fighting in the club was awesome though.

But I suppose it was never intended to be too action heavy at the detriment of story, a nice departure from the standard comic book movie. But I want to see Bats have a epic one on one battle with someone in the third, maybe a adaptation of Deathstroke or Bane. They are the only Bat-rogues who can actually hand Batman his ass physically.

^Yeah, the villians in BB and TDK are all brains over brawns(still great characters, imo). It would be nice to see Batman get his ass handed to him in a fist fight.

Hellboy.

I absolutely loved the story, but I could never quite love the action.

I think Chronicles of Riddick is a good example of a cool story and bad action.

Minority Report is another.
X-Men had a great plot but the action scenes at the end were...meh.

I'd have to go with the X-men Movies, the only action sequence that blew me away was Nightcrawler's in the whitehouse. The others were meh, especially Cyclops and wolverine getting handled by a girl. Yeah she was lady deathstrike but come on, they should've been able to hold their own better against her!

Batman Begins was another, great story but action not so good!

You guys, the question/thread topic is "MOVIES WITH BAD ACTION, BUT DECENT PLOT" not which action movies you thought had good action and a bad plot. READ THE ORIGINAL POST, AND THE POST THAT RESTATED IT, PLEASE.

READ....BEFORE...YOU...POST.

READ AND COMPREHEND

:cmad:

Thank you. :yay:

I'm gonna have to agree with Cloverfield, Batman Begins, X-1, and almost X-3. Bad action, decent plot in most of them, though some subplots needed to be reworked.:o

I don't think Minority Report is an action film per se. It's a chase film. Spielberg didn't set out to make an action extravaganza, from what I can tell. There isn't all that much action, but what there is is very cool. Am I the only one who feels the film reaches it's zenith at the Leo Crow murder scene, and apart from Danny's final moments, becomes underwhelming after that?

This is one my favorite Spielberg movies ever, but the ending always kind of disappointed me.
