BvS The Alfred Pennyworth Casting Thread

I'm still rooting for Dalton. He would be a fine addition to the cast. He also needs something like this after only getting two outings as Bond.

So disappointing that he only got two films. And he would make quite the addition to the cast, I also think that only having two Bond films would make him a more low-key choice than some of the other suggestions in the thread.

Definitely. I too am disappointed he only got two films. He would've been great in Goldeneye, which almost seems as if it were written for him.

He would definitely add some calibre and gravitas to the cast, being a stage actor himself.

Dalton!

Considering how Diamonds Are Forever turned out, I'd say Lazenby dodged a bullet there.

Not really. If Lazenby had been accepted in the role, his films could've been more in the vein of OHMSS, which is very different from DAF. DAF is more of a reaction to OHMSS.

Of course, if Connery had made OHMSS when it was originally supposed to be made, even he could've dodged the DAF bullet.

When Dalton was younger, he looked like a classic comic Tony Stark. Alex Ross even based his Stark on Dalton's likeness.

Funnilly enough, I'm watching dalton in the rocketeer right now.

A little off-topic, but I have always kind of thought that was why Goldeneye was the only Brosnan Bond film I enjoyed. It even seems to affect Brosnan's performance. He seems to deliver his lines with a lot less of a tongue-in-cheek effect. But anyways, Dalton as Alfred would be excellent casting. My fear though after Man of Steel is that great actors' talents will once again be wasted on a mediocre script that doesn't give them much to do.

With Affleck bringing in his Argo script guy, and with Ben's input as well, i think the script for this movie will be much stronger.

I'm still in the Malcom McDowell camp. However, there are a lot of other acceptable nominees.

I'm all for Timothy Dalton, but here is another option.

They could do away with the "english butler" aspect all together and go with the Batman: Earth One, ex-special forces looking Alfred. With that said, here is an obvious choice that could be pretty badass (at least I could see him throwing a punch if he needed to - Roadhouse style)...

Yeah, Rickman is my personal fan casting choice.

I couldn't get round it before. Because I couldn't picture Rickman, even as Alfred, take on an emotionally disturbed child.

But as I've viewed the Harry Potter in the recent weeks, it's really changed my mind about him. Sure he's playing Snape and he don't really like kids lol
But even so, I could fatherly tendencies he has.

And his dry/drone voice and personality, with the flickers of humour within that, makes me think his Alfred could work really well with Ben's Batman, in the way he's been described.
