I've really warmed up to this idea, he might be my favorite for the role

psst it was hyperbole for comedic effect

A lot of people could probably be a good Alfred. I'm not too worried about the casting of the part, if there is an Alfred. I reckon there will be.

Almost any choice for Alfred would be great. From John Hurt to Timothy Dalton to Alan Rickman to Pierce Brosnan. Dalton has just always been my ideal Alfed(after Michael Caine). ;)

It's not really obviously comedic when people speak like that on here all the time, and they're being honest. Sarcasm is pretty hard to convey on the internet

Its a pretty common saying... "[insert x] or nothing!"

Really? :funny:

I always interpret it as hyperbole. I guess I just give people the benefit of the doubt...

or you hang out with people that have very extreme views on things...

I wouldn't be opposed to John Lithgow

Fun fact, he performed once at Clowes Memorial Hall of Butler University :woot:
(true story)

Anotheroption could be Kevin Kline :

Give us Lithgow or Cleese. Either one would make the perfect Alfred.
normally I'd say they're both too tall (as great of a preference Caine give in the role, my only gripe was that he over towered Bale) but, with Affleck in the role, that probably wouldn't be a issue

Dalton or nothing

Disclaimer: this comment is hyperbolic. I do not actually intend to convey that Dalton is the only person in the history of the universe, past, present, and future who would be right for this role. I am not a crazy person or fanatic. Nor am I the sort who lacks basic logical thinking skills or common sense. This comment should be read with a healthy dose of good humor and a grain of salt. Side effects of reading this comment may include eye-rolls, laughter, or the inability to control one's impulse to correct my hyperbolic statement.
