The All-Star Marvel RPG
Character Application

Character you would like to play: Private Mark Milton Hyperion

Powers: Super strength, super speed, stamina, and durability. Also his hearing is highly acute (Once his mutant powers begin to mature he will gain Flight, Atomic and Flash vision.

Basic history of the character (Up until this point): Mark was just your average every day kid who never liked listing to his parents or any type of authority figure for that matter. Just at the age of 8 he would get in fights at school becoming a school bully. His father would bring the belt to him every time thinking maybe punishment would knock some sense into him but that didn’t help if anything probably made the situation worse. So his mom went with another approach by using a mother’s love.

His mom’s love was what he needed to turn his life around. For a good three years he became a son that any parent would be proud of he even stop fighting in school and lashing out. The Milton’s knew that there son was finally shaping up to be the good person they knew he could be.

At 13 Mark’s mother died from cancer. Soon after that Mark’s mutant powers began to emerge. Without his mother around to help guide him Mark went back to his old ways causing trouble for not only himself but also for the people around him. His father didn’t know what to do, after the death of his wife he pretty much gave up on Mark and on himself.

Thinking that he was pretty much unstoppable Mark turned to a life of crime. First he began small just robbing gas stations and video stores just things on that level. But soon later he joined a group of other teenage mutants who formed a gang that went by the name Morlocks.

Being now with the Morlocks changed Mark for the worse. Petite crimes he used to do as a kid now turned to crimes that would give him serious jail time. But he had no worry about any of that till he and few others were caught by the X-men. He ended up in the one place he promised himself he would never be. Thinking it was going to be all over for himself he was more than surprise when he was told some unbelievable news from Haller himself. Colonel Haller told him that he would give him a better life than that of what he had. Only catch he would have to join the X-men and learn to fallow orders like a good boy. Seeing that Mark didn’t want to spend his life behind bars he took him up on his offer.

At the age of 17 he became an X-Men and from then on went by the name Hyperion.

Why Have You Chosen That Character?: I always thought he was a cool character I figured why not give him a shot.

What Do You Plan On Doing With This Character (IE: How are you changing him or her?): Well for starter he is no longer a alien. I threw that shiz out the window. I figured I’ll do a total remake on his back story only thing that stays the same is he is still working for the Gov’mint other than that he is a mutant teen who doesn't like the situation he is in and is a very cocky.

Two Complete Sentences Explaining What You Can Bring To This RPG (As A Player): Well another member for the X-Men team and also i like to think of myself as a soso alright rpger, just another one to add to the bunch.

Please provide a small sample post in the format you wish to portray your character in (Minimum three paragraphs/one line of dialogue, maximum six paragraphs):

I rest my back up against the wall watching as my fellow mutant trainees run through the training program I'm post to be running with them. They must think I’m a lap dog that is going to jump through hoops when they say so, *****es please. I don’t need to be doing this I can be back in my quarters. I push off of the wall and begin to make my way towards the door. While heading towards the exit I look up into the observing room and notices all eyes where on me. I know right away they are not going to sit well with what I plan on doing but I don’t care.

“Hyperion! Where do you think your going?” A voice said from the inter comm.

“To my room.” I reply as I get in front of the door and place my hand on the handle to open it but it doesn’t move.

“That’s a negative Private, you will turn around and continue your training exercise. Or how would you like to be toss back into that cell of yours?”

I take my hand off the handle slowly.

“Yall can kiss my ass.” The words came out under my breath barely loud enough for anyone to ear.

“What was that private?”

I turn and face everyone in the observing room and say. “Let’s get this over with fast.”

I turn around and crack my knuckles and get down to work.

Let me start with the inevitable hating "Boo hoo! This is turning into an X-Men RPG!"

UDC = Ultimate Gotham and Friends, and that's just fine. :yay:

Also, Hyperion is approved. (Keep forgetting I can do that.)

Okay...I got an idea for a character. Probably will have an app up sometime this week.

New app up tomorrow.

I don't want to be "that guy" but **** it, I'm used to doing it. Are you sure you want to do that OP? I mean, no offense, but your history in the RPGs usually follows the same pattern: You pop in and apply for character (X) and then soon after characters (Y) and then (Z) you post a handful of times as said characters and soon drop them.

You did that in this game with Thor and you just came back as Gladiator. The rule about very limited retcons should make us all think hard and long about a character before picking them up. Once you start playing them, even after one or two posts, that character is forever ingrained with your vision. I wouldn't say this if you didn't have a history of picking up and dropping characters like you do. Maybe focus on him first and then apply for a second character once you got him under control.

The All-Star Marvel RPG
Character Application

Character you would like to play: Blade

Powers: Blade is a vampire, at least that’s what anyone ignorant to his origin would call him. He has superhuman senses of sight and hearing, allowing him to see in total darkness and at great distances, as well as hear sounds no human ear could. Blade also possesses superhuman strength(about 1 ton), speed, agility, and stamina. He also has a powerful regenerative healing ability.

Blade also does not possess the weakness to the sun that the others of his kind do.

On top of his natural abilities, Blade has been trained to be a master of all forms of combat, preferring bladed weapons and hand to hand combat over firearms.

Basic history of the character (Up until this point): Blade was not born. He was made. When mutants began to become more prominent in the world, the President of the United States, along with the Joint Chiefs of Staff, started a secret program in order to research and breed the perfect mutant and metahuman hunter, just in case it was needed.

Years of government funding were secretly poured into the program, and eventually the first of many experiments were done on live human hosts with the “X-gene replicator”. Unfortunately, each one turned out the same. While the hosts were endowed with super human abilities, the new gifts came at a great cost. The hosts were given a thirst for blood, as well as an extreme allergy to sunlight, causing extreme pain when exposed to it. In order to ensure the public’s safety, the subjects were incarcerated at Genosha Bay Prison.

In 1985, a final test was decided upon. This time, a test-tube grown fetus would be used in hopes that if a human grew with the gene replicator that it would be a success. And their theory was correct. The child grew, and while it still contracted the taste for blood, it did not possess the weakness to sunlight the others did.

As the boy grew, he was trained in all forms of combat, as well as stealth techniques, in order to become the world’s most feared hunter. He has been sent on many assassination missions for the US government since he has come of age, and has performed admirably, but he longs to be set against those that he was bred to take down. Now residing in HAMMER custody, the man known simply as Blade will receive the mission he has been waiting for.

Why Have You Chosen That Character?: I wanted to find a good walking the line character which I could shape into my own vision, and Blade just kinda popped into my mind. Plus he’s someone that’s never really used around the boards, so I figure why not.

What Do You Plan On Doing With This Character (IE: How are you changing him or her?): Well, as you can see, he’s not actually a vampire. Just a mutated experiment with a thirst for human blood. Also he’s controlled by HAMMER, at least for now, and will do missions for them. By making him not a vampire, I believe he can be more of a critical character in the Universe, rather than someone who’s usually on the fringes in the mainstream continuity.

Two Complete Sentences Explaining What You Can Bring To This RPG (As A Player): I don’t know? A veteran player who can write well and bring an interesting character concept to life. Someday I hope to bring to an RPG a reason why this shouldn’t be a question on an app, but that’s just me.

Please provide a small sample post in the format you wish to portray your character in (Minimum three paragraphs/one line of dialogue, maximum six paragraphs):

Two hundred thirty

I do another pushup in my room during my daily training routine, which is less for training and more for keeping my mind off the fact that I’ve been couped up in this damned HAMMER facility for two years now without a mission.

Two hundred fifty

Two years they’ve kept me here for no reason. I hear the news from Colonel Harker all the time. The news that there’s mutants running about, terrorizing citizens, even killing them. I hear the news that there are these fools calling themselves Avengers trying to wretch the power to protect from those that really deserve it. And I definitely know that I can help.

Three hundred

As I get up to head to the shower, the door to my apartment slides open, and in walks Colonel John Harker, with a smile on his face, “Good news, son.”

“What?” I ask brusquely.

“We’ve got you a mission.”

I'll second that. I'm usually not big on major origin-changes like that, but changing him from being a vampire into a vampire-like super-mutant sounds pretty fun. Especially if those other replicator mutants are on the loose (which is a distinct possibility since SHIELD blew up the Genosha Bay prison)

I wouldn't deny doing that. But then I sit here and type about superheroes to have fun, when time and life permits. I have too much of an actual life to be devoted to doing this so yeah, I'll play when I can bothered and I'll RP when inspiration takes me. But I'm not going to treat it like any real actual commitment. It is only a game, after all.

This does change of course if he's re-applying for Moon Knight again, which is already his vision.

And would make sense since Spector's popped up again in his Gladiator stuff.

But it's a sentiment I can appreciate and re-assured Andy without prompting (that I'm not just "burning off" major Marvel characters) earlier because I have a direction I'm going in...

I've only established characters who I honestly think no one else would ever have bothered with. I mean seriously, who else on this board would apply for Gladiator or Constrictor?! :D Thor and Moony both had pre-existing origins before me.

This might just be the most painful sentence (?) that I have ever constructed...

Ugh.

Just to let y'all know. Due to a continuity conflict between J'adore and myself, I'm going to be changing some of my Gladiator posts slightly. It shouldn't effect anyone else really but figured it's probably best to give you all a heads up!

I understand where you're coming from. Real life always takes precedence, but I think you have to look at these games as a sort of commitment. Yeah, it's a game and a hobby, but you have to commit a certain amount of time and energy to any hobby in order to do it right. When you disappeared last time, you left bkhedr hanging with his Vision stuff. Before that, you set up this big arc with Apocalypse only to vanish yet again and leave the Avengers to clean up the mess. To me, that's not really nice. My main thing wasn't you picking up characters in this RPG, just too many characters across the board. I was just suggesting that, instead of picking up five or six guys across the board, only pick up two. It's less time and energy you have to devote to the games so there should be a more likely chance of you sticking around longer.

But that's my two cents. I have no power in this game, so do what you want to do.

Dude, my Apocalypse arc was worked right throughout by me. Including the very last post where I had him defeated and left him in limbo for someone else to bring back in the future. I worked alongside both Keys and BK with that fight.

Granted, I left BK hanging in this one which I regret as I normally try to stick to self contained stuff for my own pleasure without impacting any others.

You do have a point though and it's taken on board.

Will endeavour to come up with something tonight..

Nope, Andy. Not going to happen. You're not going to trick me into playing Araña again. Nope. Uh-uh.

...

Oh, goddammit. :csad:

The All-Star Marvel RPG
Character Application

Character you would like to play: Anya Sofia Corazon / Araña

Powers: She havs superhuman strength, superhuman agility, super-jumping, the ability to stick to any surface, extreme flexibility, heightened reflexes, and uncanny balancing abilities.

Basic history of the character (Up until this point): Anya's mother, Sofia Corazon, died in a tragic car accident while Anya was still a young girl. For this reason, Anya has been raised by her father, Gilberto Corazon, for most of her life. The two are very close, despite Gilberto's demanding job as an investigative reporter.

For the most part, Anya has led a very average life. Living in Brooklyn and attending Fort Greene High School, Anya is best friends with Lynn Tanner. She is also involved with the girl's soccer team, having a "little sister" type relationship with Nina Smith. Anya is also friends with Ted Mankowski, a computer geek who lives on her street, and she has a crush on Miguel Legar, a mysterious upperclassman badboy.

After coming into contact with a mysterious vial of the PPSM-AF15 experimental serum, Anya has gained superhuman abilities similar to those of the superhero Spider-Man. Embracing this drastic change in her life, Anya has taken up the mantle of Araña to protect her neighborhood.

Why Have You Chosen That Character?: Anya has the potential to be very similar to Ultimate Spider-Woman, my first RPG character and a personal favorite. She's interesting because Andy C. and I have discussed some ideas, and Anya is going to start out linked - albeit weakly - to Spider-Man before forging her own path. It will be interesting to play a character on the outer fringes of the Spidey-verse while still doing my own thing, to a large extent.

What Do You Plan On Doing With This Character (IE: How are you changing him or her?): First and foremost, I'm eliminating the mystical/supernatural elements of Anya's story. She will be a more traditional superhero in the same vein as Spider-Man. As a result of this, I've needed to reimagine just about everyone in Anya's supporting cast.

Two Complete Sentences Explaining What You Can Bring To This RPG (As A Player): Well, someday I hope to have enough "sway" around here to finally get this question taken out of applications. But, to cover all my bases, I'll give the same tired reponse: reliability, dedication, talking point, etc.

Please provide a small sample post in the format you wish to portray your character in (Minimum three paragraphs/one line of dialogue, maximum six paragraphs):

The next day, I stay late after school in the library working on a paper for English class. Unfortunately, I lose track of time and end up missing the late bus. Not really that big of a problem, but it means I have to hoof it back home with the sun dropping in the sky. The hallways are virtually empty as I make one last stop at my locker.

I get goosebumps on the walk home. With the sun going down, it's gotten chilly out. I regret not grabbing my jacket from my locker. Hunching over to fight the wind, I keep my head down and keep walking. I don't walk through this part of town often, and I'm starting to get a little nervous. I only hope I can make it home before it becomes completely dark.

"Hey," a gruff voice calls out from around a street corner. I nearly jump out of my skin, fighting the urge to scream bloody murder. However, when I see the source of the voice, I realize that there's no need to be so afraid.

Miguel Legar. He's a classmate of mine, an upperclassman to be exact. Neither I nor anyone I know seems to know much about him. He's very mysterious. But for that reason, I've always had a healthy curiosity about him. At times, it even borders on a crush, I'll admit. Something about that mysterious bad-boy image...

"This is a bad section of town at night," Miguel continues, not acknowledging that he nearly scared me to death. "This is the property of Las Avispas, the Wasps. A young girl like you shouldn't be walking here alone." He jumps down from the stoop and approaches me. "I've seen you in school."

"I missed the bus," I explain. This is the first time Miguel has ever spoken to me.

Miguel looks at the setting sun. "It's getting dark," he remarks. He looks back at me. "Let me walk you home. You won't be safe otherwise."

I hide my smile. Miguel Legar, my crush, is offering to walk me home. I mean, sure, he's probably just doing it because what he says about the neighborhood is true, but circumstances are irrelevant. "Okay."

The All-Star Marvel RPG
Character Application

Character you would like to play: Erik Lehnsherr, aka Magneto

Powers: Known far and wide as 'the master of magnetism', Magneto is a powerful mutant able to control all forms of metal to manipulate at will.

Basic history of the character (Up until this point): "Holocaust survivor, mutant rights activist, global terrorist, or anywhere in between, the man known as Magneto has become the symbol of a generation. At first pressing for equal rights for mutants, he has since become more focused on mutant nationalism and the quest for a mutant homeland. He began his career advocating peaceful means, but became much more militant after the death of his good friend Charles Xavier. Although he only wears his iconic suit during media events, Lensherr refuses to let himself grow weak or idle, still entering the field of battle himself."

- Catman_prb

Why Have You Chosen That Character?: Magneto is one of the greatest villains in comic books, period. He's one of those characters that you can sympathize with, and not through some sort of typical 'my wife/child/uncle/parents/puppy dog was killed and now I must attain REVENGE' type of scenario. No, Erik watched countless of his own people mercilessly slaughtered for no good reason and hundreds more persecuted among the general society in the decades since escaping the concentration camps. Just try talking down a guy that's experienced that type of lifelong pain.

What Do You Plan On Doing With This Character (IE: How are you changing him or her?): Given that I was largely influenced by the great Ian McKellen's take on the character in the films, I want to bring some of that to the role. Whereas the Magneto of the comics generally takes little pleasure in anything he does, brooding in an almost Batmanesque manner, McKellen's Magneto took no shame in mocking the pathetic whims of the homosapiens he so reviled. That's a fun notion to play with, and it helps me characterize Erik's deep seated hatred in a way that doesn't involve the hypocrisy in having him commit genocide. (F*** Ultimatum. Seriously.)

Beyond that, there's really nowhere that I want to deviate from Cats' portrayal. I still want to play him as more of a freedom fighter for mutants than an oppressor towards humankind. I think that's the charm of the character, because you really can't see him as a bad guy if he keeps that element true.

Two Complete Sentences Explaining What You Can Bring To This RPG (As A Player): My good looks and immeasurable wit. Well... my wit, anyway.

Please provide a small sample post in the format you wish to portray your character in (Minimum three paragraphs/one line of dialogue, maximum six paragraphs):

Erik approached the bottomless pit of his stronghold's dungeons and removed his helmet, placing it at his side. His cloak majestically glided across the stone stairwell as he descended, careful to mind the guards that awaited him at the bottom. He gave them both a solemn nod as he handed over the crude piece of his public's persona. "My brothers, you may leave us."

The two nodded and ascended, just as Magneto ripped away the pin of his cloak from the crimson bodysuit. Even though he had just returned from another taping of one of his many statements to the public, Erik still found himself in need to make himself formal. After all, it wasn't often that The Brotherhood was treated to the presence a guest. And what a special guest that she was.

Realizing that he had stepped in something vile, Erik looked down at the floor and at his shoe. A trail of obvious slime protruded from beneath. Agitated, he looked upon the halls before him and saw the culprit itself - the one called Toad, who kept idly peering into his stationed guard assignment - a wooden cell labelled 963.

"Brother Toad. I assume you've kept a careful watch on our guest?"

Toad jumped, startled by his leader's presence.

"Yup. The b**** ain't moved since we started up the machines. Guess you roughed her up good last night, huh old man?"

Immediately insulted by the crude comment, Magneto grabbed Toad by the throat and held a firm grip. Toad's eyes went wide, watching Erik's eyes narrow. "She is a sister. Traitorous or not, you will try and show some class in her presence."

Toad nodded firmly, released from Erik's grip. He may have been the master of magnetism, but every member of The Brotherhood knew that Magneto was not above using alternative methods to bring his points across in far more constructive ways. He ordained them all with a sense of fatherly order, both strict and loving. Even so, Toad couldn't help but mutter a curse as he unlocked the door and allowed him in.

Though the cell seemed perfectly escapeable from the outside, the inside was another matter entirely. Lined with padded walls that did nothing to hide the fact that the layer behind it was composed of solid adamantium, several machines on both sides of the room kept a constant pulse flowing of sonic soundwave tachyon fields, designed to be particularly distracting - or even devastating - to certain mutants with the telekinetic powers. For this particular case, they were operating at low levels to give off a certain illusion. The illusion of free will.

Magneto gave his guest a warm smile, one that she did not return. In due time, he had hoped that that would change. But if it didn't, he realized that there were alternative methods. For those more constructive ways.

"Ah, Ms. Grey! So wonderful to see you again. I trust that you've made yourself comfortable in these new accommodations?"
