The All Things Flash Thread. - Part 2

I think it's the "It's going to fail" part of the post that seems a little bit more on the negative side. The rest of the post, that's totally his opinion, which is cool. But we have no idea if this will fail yet or not. It very well could, the poster could be right... but we don't know until it releases. Certain articles/predictions tend to lean on that side, but time will tell.

We dont have any updated box office projections right? I think its fairly safe to say this thing has an uphill battle to climb. 1) Limited press due to Ezra 2) DC’s brand as a whole being kind of tarnished with the GA 3) all this competition and Spiderverse (deservedly) doing very well and having a very similar premise.

On the press front, man it is so sad that we dont have ONE interview with Michael Keaton talking about this movie. And because of the writer’s strike we cant have any cast appear on any late night talk shows like Kimmel or Fallon to promote this. :(

It is a shame the lack of interview(s) with Keaton for sure man. If word of mouth is really good for this movie, I think it will be a success of sorts. I am curious, was Aquaman projected to be a 1 billion dollar movie? Or was it all word of mouth? Things to consider. I guess The Flash does have a more uphill battle than Aquaman, but The Flash does have Keaton...

If i recall correctly Aquaman had a low opening but then had tremendous legs and was well loved overseas. I dont remember what the competition Aquaman had at the time but it had good wom and steady legs.

I see venom and negativity. The poster decided to post a review in all things flash. So I gave my opinion to the poster of what I have seen from reviews and YouTube. He didn’t like the response and attacked. So I responded to his attack. The poster even brought another poster into the comments. It is what is. A message board about DC movies.
Negativity =/= venom. Strong dislike for the movie is just negativity which is perfectly valid. The next time you see what you consider “an attack,” report it, and the mods will decide. DO NOT respond with another attack, and do not continue to invalidate other posters’ opinions on this movie.

And even that is perfectly allowed and in no way warrants personal attacks, for the record. That is not “venom.” Suggesting a poster needs “someone to talk to” because you don’t like their opinion? That’s venom.

Yeah, I remember it doing bonkers overseas now that you mentioned it. And it may have not had any major competition too. May have just been a perfect storm of circumstances haha.

I never said his post was venom btw. Just more on the negative side. Which I said is his opinion and he's allowed to have it? Just that I haven't personally seen anyone say the movie is as bad as he has. That is all. If you took anything else from my post, apologies.

Just because reviews and youtubers like it doesn't mean the poster has to. Their post doesn't seem that bad although I disagree with it.

I will leave it alone. We are all DC and comic book fans. Not trying to insult anyone. Let’s get back to enjoying the movies.

Aquaman was up against Bumblebee and the the Mary Poppins sequel and I remember all the of the negativity that lead up to release. Many around here (and in the nerd press) thought it would struggle not to finish 3rd. It wasn't until late tracking that it became clear that it was going to do better than expected.

The best though is that Julie Andrews is in Aquaman and not Marry Poppins Returns or whatever it was called :funny:

Let’s enjoy DC movies brother. I respect his opinion. I am not going to let the negativity get to me. The Flash movie appears to be a love letter to the Snyderverse. I loved his vision and looking forward to seeing its end.

Totally unrelated but i really really hope Aquaman 2 isnt the disaster everyone’s positing it to be. It would be nice for this universe to end on a good note especially if Flash lands well. The first Aquaman has a silly script but unapologetically enjoy the s*** out of that movie. Its such a beautiful spectacle. Hoping for more of the same.

I loved Aquaman. I know it had it's detractors, but it was just a fun comic book movie with some really cool action sequences. I loved the costume designs in it as well. I totally can see why people would scoff at the movie, but I'm with you. I hope it is a solid movie. But hopefully Jason Momoa finally gets to play Lobo in the future haha.

If Aquaman 2 is fun like the first one it should get the same box office. I don’t think it has any competition because Star Wars was scheduled for that date. I actually thought Flash should have traded places with Aquaman and give the Snyderverse a proper send off.

I think the problem Aquaman 2 will have is that it likely is just "more of the same"snd my guess is audiences will get bored of that. It needs to have a better story to go along with the spectacle or it will seem like a rehash.

I genuinely think Aquaman 2 is gonna get similar reception to WW1984 as sad as that is to say. I actually didn't dislike 1984 tbh.

The early word on the street is (for whatever its worth) is that its one of the worst DC films and that its incredibly silly and cheesy...way silly and cheesier than the first one. So sounds to me like they doubled down on the comedy.

But who knows, maybe they were able to somewhat salvage it with reshoots........

Not likely but maybe.

That doesn't sound encouraging as I wasn't exactly wowed by the first one and it wasn't for lack of comedy. What's sad is Mamoa is perfect, it's just the story was so blah. :(

Hoping exactly the same

1984 was okay, nothing to write home about but not a stinker either. Could have been better.
Just how I felt about it. I gave it 6/10.

Aquaman I think can do well since it actually has a charismatic and likable lead unlike Shazam with discount Adam Sandler and The Flash with Ezra Miller

Looks like the box office tracking for this movie isn’t that great. Guess Keaton’s Batman and Supergirl aren’t the draws they hoped they would be

I've just re-watched Burton's two Batman films for the hundredth time. I love them so much and I'm super eager for more Keaton. The Flash will be out tomorrow night at the theater which is a 10 min walk away from my place. And yet... I feel like I can wait.

The film continues to receive bad press here with, so far, a consensus calling it "the most perfect example of Hollywood derives". Are pointed the sacrifice of stories in favor of piling on cameos, sometimes crassly digging up the past (there's even a review calling it "Back to the Torture"), and the ugliness of the art direction. The former is everything I hate in our era of blockbusters and I can't say I disagree with the latter based on what I've seen from the trailers...
I knew from the start that the movie won't be completely for me but d*mn, I'm a little sad not being already in the starting blocks to see the Batman of my childhood again.

Which leads me to this thought : I wonder if they didn't shown too much about Keaton's return (and I haven't even seen all the TV spots). I really have the impression that the event has already been digested by a good part of the target audience, who may therefore not be in a hurry to get to the theater.
Which brings me back to the beginning of my post...

We'll see.

From what I've read so far, I hope Keaton gets a more fitting swan song than this. I never thought he would be back, so just to have this is a godsend alone, but he probably deserved something better.
