Phil Lord Says ‘The Flash’ and Animated ‘Spider-Man’ Are “Off a Little Bit to the Side” From Larger Franchises

We’re trying to break a story. It’s interesting, because there’s a really popular TV show out there, and we’re trying to carve out space for the movie that’s apart from that. I think we’re doing alright. … I believe [our Flash] is going to be Barry Allen. … It’s going to be it’s own [thing, apart from the TV show] — we’re more trying to stick with the cinematic universe… it really is its own thing, and kind of a stand-alone movie. We’re just trying to think of the best story. I think you guys will like it, it’s kind of a different take on superhero stuff.

Is there a way to do Reverse Flash without time travel? It took them almost an entire season of the tv show before introducing the concept to the audience. Is it too much to try to do it in a 2 hour movie?

Lord confirmed he and Miller are working on a story for the film AND it's going to be Barry Allen? :awesome:

so happy they went with Barry Allen, think he is the best option since he is an original founding member of the justice league.

not sure but i do think they will go with Hal, as i believe you cant change the originals.

Believe it or not, Season 1 of the CW Flash is based on the Flash movie script by Berlanti and Guggenheim. Harrison Wells/Reverse Flash was the villain in the script, and he was also in charge of STAR Labs and acted as the Barry's mentor.

Really? I didn't know that.

He just went by Eobard Thawne straight off the bat, Captain Cold was a serial killer/hitman, and there was only one STAR Labs person helping him. Other than that it was essentially the same. At least the outline, no matter who or where I ask nobody will pass me the actual script. :cmad:

So, with James Wan announced for Aquaman, is it reasonable to expect some news for The Flash soon?

SDCC is slowly approaching so I'm sure we'll hear something before then. Just lock in Lord/Miller and wake me up when it's 2018? K thnx.

:o

I thought Killer Frost would be a cool villain for the first film.

I wonder if they'll ever adapt "Flashpoint" on film. With a story like that, you could pull a "Civil War" scenario where you can have several big time heroes present (provided that the actors are willing) in the story and still have the focus on a singular hero's arc.

Course, I doubt that they'll go for the whole arc of having the entire D.C.C.U rebooted as a result of "Flashpoint" like how the comics did (unless of course Warner Bros wants to start fresh after a decade's worth of DC films).

Civil War? Pfttt... that would be Armagedon!

It might turn out to be a cool move for DC, too. With Marvel out, Warners’ Saturday presentation — which will likely include the stars from Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice (Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Jesse Eisenberg), Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), Justice League (Jason Momoa, Ezra Miller) and Suicide Squad (Jared Leto, Will Smith, Cara Delevingne, Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman) together for the first time — definitely will grab attention.

I do hope so! Maybe we get a costume reveal too.:)

Eh Lord and Miller never officially signed on to direct in the first place so it's not like anything was a done deal and they dropped out.
