Nah, only two at maximum will make a billion, those being Superman/Batman & Captain America 3. There's no way eight films are going to make a billion dollars in the SAME year. You make it seem as if its some easy feat.
I think you're seriously underestimating Finding Dory, Alice in Wonderland: Into the Looking Glass, X-Men: Apocalypse, and the Star Wars spin-off film.

BatvSupes will not make a billion.

Yeah right billion is the least it will make it is a lock could even make like 1.8 billion depending on the reviews but with it being the first time of super man and batman on the screen at the same time it is like avengers all over again and that movie made like 1.6 billion.

With the 5year thing and with it being 2 years form asm2 to asm3 should they take more time and have it be 4 years form asm2 to asm3 so like a 2018 relisitc date for asm3?

Sony's reducing the number of films they put out each year. They'll probably go forward with their annual Spider-Man related movie plan, squeezing as much as they possibly can out of the franchise.

Alice 2 has no shot at a billion. The first one rode Avatar's 3D coattails to a billion, the sequel won't be so lucky. Also people are sick of Johnny Depp.

I think BvS is a lock for around 850-900mil but a billion depends on how much the audience likes it.

What do you mean rode avatars coattails to a billion? Avatar and alice in wonderland are not the same univers and charaters. Even if alice dosnt make a billion it is still going to make a lot its not like its going to drop down to 400 million just like that.

3D hype.

I only see Finding Dory as possibly making a billion. As others said, Wonderland did well based on the novelty of Depp as the Hatter but I don't think they were in love with it. It can but only if the international market makes up for domestic.

X-men is doing well again but I think the novelty of seeing the old and new cast is what helped DOFP.

And depending on what the SW spinoff is, it could be geared mainly toward die hard fans.

I would take more time, yes. Of course I would also bring in a whole new crew too. Everyone but the actors from ASM2 would be gone.

BatvSupes will not make a billion.

Not if it comes out the same day as Cap 3.

If one of them moves, I could easily see it doing a billion if it is any good. If it stinks, no.

Thankyou for answering Ms. Marvel.

Yes 3D hype and people weren't sick of Depp's bad movies then. I'm not saying it's only going to make 400mil but it damn sure ain't making a billion.

If Sony has 5 years to make TASM 3 why not take 2 to years to get a good movie together?

That's true about DOFP but at the same time with the movie getting great reviews form both fans and cretis and with first class getting really good reivews 2 the next xmen is going to have hype created by coming off of 2 really good great xmen movies in a row. I am not saying that a billion is easy today but it is not what it used to be because of inflation more 3d movies and the internation market getting bigger. I think there has been 13 movies to make a billion or more with out a rearelase and up intill like 6 years ago it was only like 6 or 7 movies so just in the last like 6 years we have had like 6 0r 7 of them.

The thing with 2016 is that there are probly at least 12 movies that are going to make 700 million or more even if not a billion 700 is still no laughing amont to make.

2016 billion dollar films?

Avatar 2
Finding Dory
BvS
Alice 2 (Yes the 3D hype was a thing, but that also means many watched it and probably have fond memories. Also the Avatar hype will be back in full swing by then)

There could be others. What I think will happen is a lot of films will finish with $700m-$800m.

I find it extremely unlikely that any of the new SW films are geared toward for die hard fans.

Disney will make sure the new SW stuff is "enjoyable for everyone."

See sometimes I think not good or disappointing films are mostly a scripting issue. Indeed TASM 2 had a horrendous script I'm sure but I agree with you Butch, this franchise needs another director. I get that Sony and the script are bigger issues but I flat out do not think that Marc Webb is right for this franchise. He just doesn't have the talent needed to push this franchise to new and interesting heights. He is a quirky rom com director and that's awesome for him but stayaway from my Superhero movies please.

I hate talking about Marc Webb because he as a director just brings out the mean in me and I want to be a constructive critic. It was really hard for me to not write "Marc Webb kinda sucks as a director" as a response to your post.
Marc Webb's sensibilities just aren't right for the genre imo. It is like he focuses on the wrong things, and then misses on the macro and micro levels. As if he thinks if he gets the quirky, fun moments, he can go with the utterly blah for the actual story and characters. "But its deep, because look Peter is crying".

His biggest saving grace has been his leads and the insane action the effects studio gave him.

The only problems I've had with these films have been strictly with the screenplays. I think Marc's sensibilities as a director have been perfect for Spidey, tbh. *shrugs*

 You're spot on, flickchick. I'm totally right there with you.

At some point you have to be like, "this crap ain't good" and fix it. If he matched it perfectly, his direction would override the script. He'd make it work. He hasn't imo. Also a lot of the problems are in the editing and pacing of the films. That is most definitely on him.

Well as I said, I have no problems with the directorial aspects, which include the editing and pacing. I thought the 2nd film was too long, but that was so clearly because Sony was trying to squeeze so much in to set up their new universe/franchise that I don't put that on Webb at all. I loved the pacing of the first one and didn't have a problem with anything there, really. There is A LOT about this franchise that I find to be very good. I LOVE the action scenes, love the character beats and emotional moments, and love the overall tone and aesthetic of the series, so I feel like from Webb's standpoint, he works just perfectly for me. It's Sony's grand plans and screenwriting committee that's where I find myself saying, "this crap ain't working," and unfortunately, Marc Webb (and whoever they hire next) has little-to-no power over that, as Sam Raimi's abrupt departure from the franchise is evidence of.

I really can't see Alice 2 doing anywhere near as well. Avatar exploded the 3D market. Alice took advantage but also killed it when people turned up and the 3D was nothing like Avatar. Much of the money 3D has made since has been that local showings happen to be in 3D and the choice of 2D was not as straightforward as before. If 3D had followed in Avatar's footsteps (I haven't seen one film with anywhere close to that tech level) I think the billion dollar mark would be a lot more common now.

I'm not really underestimating them, I just know every movie, whether it's a blockbuster or not, isn't guaranteed to make a billion.

Simply put, all of those movies are NOT going to make a billion dollars. I still don't see why people are making it seem as if its some easy task to be accomplished.

Don't get me wrong, I fully expect those movies to make big bucks....but all of them making a billion dollars? That's reaching incredibly far.
