Yeah I saw that. So stunt gone wrong? Just reminds me how real real dangerous shooting scenes like these are. I wonder where Spidey plays in all of this?

yeah but at the end of the day it is written by the same guys. i believe if you're a talented screenwriter, it will show in all your work, and vice versa. it's not so much in the detail but more to do with more fundamental things like character development, logical consistencies, character motivations, etc etc.

i'm not knocking tasm2; the star trek review was one guy's opinion. alas, i will be watching star trek partly to see how good the script is.

but yea, was just a tidbit i thought i'd share seeing as the forum was/is dead

This guy gets it.

I feel pretty good about the script, I mean almost every actor that's attached to this movie praised the script, and I don't think that ever even happen with TASM, unless they were paid off to say it, but even Dehaan praised the script when he was being interviewed for another movie, so who knows. Considering Marc Webb is directing I'm sure that has some impact on ehats's focused most on, which in Marc's case will probably always be the characters.

Actors are ALWAYS going to praise the film they're acting in/promoting. It's part of the job.

While Webb may "focus on the characters" (there were a few great tidbits in TASM), the sloppy direction and choppy editing killed the film. 500 days of summer's success as far as the characters go, is more a product of the script than the direction.

TASM2 may well end up being great, but I'd prefer not to get my hopes up and then be disappointed (as with TASM).

I live in Rochester, I'm at the filming again today. So far a lot of action with cars crashing and being flipped very cool. I have a plethora of pictures with me and the Daily Bugle newspaper truck, as a lifetime comicbook nerd, I can't begin to explain what's those pictures mean to me. I will cherish them forever, not to mention an Oscorp armored truck as well, all thanks to TASM2! Thanks Sony for bringing the shoot to my hometown.

Easy to bring up one review of STID saying that the script is weak when there are many others that precisely say there are a lot of great character moments, that are very well written......

Don't forget too that the primary writing on Star Trek Into Darkness was Damon Lindelof... From what I can gather Kurtzman and Orci were mostly just supporting writers.

The direction to me seemed pretty solid. All the lead actors gave great performances, and there was an obvious attention to subtle moments that fly over some people's head. The script was most likely completed before Webb jumped aboard, so really he had no say in where the film would go, all he could really do was set a tone. The movie felt pretty organic, the only things that felt out of place were crane scene and football post scene, but mostly everything else was pretty well done. I definitley think Webb will improve on the action aspect with this movie, due to the type of villian(s) this movie will have, they'll allow for a lot of variety in action set pieces. This movie is likely to be different than the last one though due to new writers and almost an entirely new crew. The things that will hopefully will be improved in this movie will be the editing, which hopefully the movie will be allowed to be longer than the last so that it gets room to breathe, and better staged action scenes, and a better written plot. I think this movie might have more of a lighter tone than the last one. Hopefully the writers were able to
balance everything out and not make the plot too convulated.

Hell, this movie looks like it could be a "reboot inside of the reboot". The most concerning aspect is the writing, and if that is solid then everything else should fall into place, as long as Webb has learned from his mistakes and looks to improve upon his past efforts, and doesn't fall into past failings. Hopefully he realizes that this movie will make or break the franchise and that he needs to bring his A game, because if this movie isn't recieved any better than the last, then this franchise will simply be just another movie franchise.

I do feel more of a sense of confidence with this movie though, due to us knowing a lot more at this point then we did with the first one.

Sounds like all cool moments man.

Webb strikes me as the type of director who believes in what he does and has a lot of passion for what he's
working on, but hopefully he isn't the type of person who is blinded by his own work.

I accidentally implied that all non Star Trek fans are clueless idiots. But you did cut out the portion that I was talking about. Of course I'll sound like a *****e then :D. I meant that the faction of audience that only watch movies for the mindless action and loves it. The Bay audience.

Hey, it's merrillmind once again, the action filmed today has been crazy! A bunch of cop cars crashed, smashed and piled ontop of each other, and the Oscorp truck has been broken open, and a shoot off stand off is coming as well!

This is the most false thing I've ever read in my life. Thanks for making PULL MY ****ING HAIR OUT.

Have you ever heard an actor go out and say, "My movie has a ***** script by the way." ?

This is the most false thing I've ever read in my life. Thanks for making PULL MY ****ING HAIR OUT.

It'll grow back. Also what he said is completely true. No one involved with a movie will come out and say "Yeah this movie is a piece of ****, don't even bother seeing it." It's part of their job. The only time they'll say something like that is years after the release after the movie has been beaten to hell by critics (like everyone involved in Batman and Robin did.)

Actors are obligated to do press, interviews, etc. They are obligated to talk about the film, not to judge it. Even if you were right (which you'll never be), Dane DeHaan is the second best actor in the world, and knows what a ****ing brilliant script looks like.

Are you suggesting I'm never right?
