Yep, Webb is going to nail it big time, he already did for me with TASM, but he's got the origin stuff out of the way, he's probably way more comfortable now with the whole ordeal, the costume is pretty much perfect, Electro looks great, the whole thing is really looking good. Plus, he probably paid a lot of attention to some of the stuff some people didnt like.

I really enjoyed ASM. And I really like the direction that the sequel is headed...i.e. the new suit, change in cinematographer (not that I had an issue with the photography in ASM), change in writers, larger scope, Webb still aiming to keep the human relationships at the forefront, etc.

There is no doubt this sequel has enormous potential to do really, really well. The elements for success are all there imo, but at the same time it has me feeling nervous and very hesitant to 'buy into it' so soon. SM3 left a horrible taste in my mouth. From what I remember, the preproduction of SM3 was a bit different however the excitement and the huge potential are the same.

I can't deny that I am excited for ASM2...def more so than ASM. It's a bag of mixed feelings and thoughts.

I think the negatives of TASM have a lot to do with how restricted Webb was for that movie. He did create a bigger story and added interesting elements that never made it into the movie. And I'm sure Avi Arad had a part to do with that. Sony got way too 'safe' because of that attitude. I feel that had a bunch to do with Webbs trepidation on coming back to direct the sequel.

I don't know if its the $750 million the first movie made or the addition of Orci and Kurtzman (probably the latter), but he seems to have much more room to do what he wants now. At least thats the vibe I'm getting.

Agreed. I think that Webb had a specific vision for the story in ASM1 and the following films but with ASM being the first non Raimi film and with the studio being unsure of how audiences might respond, Webb was really restricted with what he could do, even with the costume.

Not only that, but Webb was essentially directing a script he hadn't contributed to and that resulted in last minute edits, reshoots and cuts that were both good and detrimental to the final cut of the film.

With Webb having been here from the very beginning this time, he can execute his vision better.
I think ASM2 is the movie Webb wanted to do from the beginning and the film we all kind of expected with ASM1.

I'm getting the biggest felling that TASM2 is going to decimate. Both critically and financially.

I was listening to The Cure (the song Lullaby AKA Spider-Man's song ) when it hit me that Marc Webb signed on to this in a such a way that he seeks full redemption. By that I mean that he really wants to hold nothing back this time around in terms of the world he's setting out to create. He essentially created the perfect Spider-Man costume this go around that I'm sure will leave people in an awe induced paralyzed state once they see it on the screen (assuming this beautiful costume hasn't already done that). He's pretty much trying to leave very little room for criticism.

The plot seems incredibly intricate with the mob of villains unlike Spider-Man 3 where the villains were a jumbled mess both in terms of partnerships and goals. Tying everything that is "misery" related to Oscorp was a great move and it harkens back what worked so great about The Spectacular Spider-Man in terms of characterization and the story.

Some movies even in pre-production let off a feeling of something special being brewed and this one is emitting that kind of aroma in spades. I know it's nothing more than a hunch at this point but that's the vibe I'm sensing (no pun intended).

The super hero king truly returns in 2014. Mark your calendars!

I have as much excitement and hope as fellow Hype member above. And quite frankly, I would be nervous and more apprehensive due to production occurring over the course of less than 2 years.

But whenever that crosses my mind, Spider-Man 2 comes to mind. No more need be said.

But yeah, I'm super excited, but at the same time nervous. I'm really not that sure what to expect from this movie. If Webb is given some more slack, I think we could see the best Spidey yet. But then I think of Kurtzman and Orci writing and wonder if they're truly capable of writing anything beyond a fun but rather generic action story. But then I think of how perfectly Andrew and Emma are cast, and how Webb excels at heartfelt character moments. But then I think about how bigger is not always better. But then... You get the point.

The script COULD have been just fine. And I am one that loved the deleted scenes and feel they could've made TAS-M better. Besides problems I have that couldn't have been changed all that much(the parents storyline, Aunt May not having enough screentime, the breaking of the promise), I feel that the deleted scenes eased my problems that I had with the final cut with Lizard and also concludes Dr. Ratha's arc.

Oh... but still james wrote both scripts before they even decided the reboot so yeah anyone knows if marc was involved in any part of the script?

I don't see it happening unless it's for story purposes but this, what they have now, is literally THE BEST embodiment yet. I can't see how they could improve further from this point.

i think they´ll make just little changes for the thrid movie , it depends if the suit is well recieved by the audience

Yeah. It wasn't rushed. however, it did feature alot of changes to the origin which, after webb came on and made changes, didn't make it into the final cut.

I loved TASM and love most of what I'm seeing on TASM2 so far. One of the many aspects I loved about TASM was the cinematography, I thought it looked great (Johnathan Schwartzman from TASM worked with Michael Bay on movies like The Rock). I don't know why he was replaced for 2. I hope the new cinematographer is just as good.
