The official synopsis clearly indicates that the movie involves the characters still being in High School, and we already know that we will actually see the Midtown High graduation. Given that, a 'passage of time montage' happening at some point in the movie would not be amiss or out of the question.

Looking into theme further to see if I could find a connective link that is most likely the theme. It seems to follow Kurtzman and Orci.

It is why the autobots are successful and the decepticons fail.

It is what leads to happiness in 'People Like Us.'

And you can almost see it in Star Trek, it's probably there more, but it is Nero's inability to move on that leads to his eventual downfall.

Typically themes follow writers around from film to film. For me it's that once you accept yourself and your past you'll find happiness. For Spielberg (director's have it too) it's about families being reunited and that a family is stronger together than apart. I don't really have any other examples. But, they have them. And this is most likely the theme that Kurtzman and Orci really want to present in their work.

There's two ways that you could have it. It could come immediately after graduation. And you fade up onto them looking at the college looming over them (or just Peter).

Or a passage of time. Here, I'd go with the first option being highly likely -- especially the college looming over them aspect. It sets the college up -- and probable theme of the challenge of beginning anew -- as something that's daunting and that the characters need to overcome to come out on top.

This is all coming from the theory that the gray backpack means college and Peter has this for the majority of the film.

You the interesting thing that I learned from Marc is that he puts his theme into words like the begining when Peter first goes in and looks for a name tag and asks "Are you having trouble finding yourself." and in Gwen's speach I hear something about mortality if you can hear it you might get more of a sense if you want see it of course

I'd say his theme is about young love and how love can inspire you to aim higher and continue to fight even when the going gets rough. (that's a guess, it's been a while since I saw 500 days)

Stating things is definitely part of Webb's touch to something though.

But theme is really what you want to say with a piece and what you want others to take away from it. It's a dominant idea or overall subject of discourse.

They don't need to show him fighting. Have him in his lab hunched over or something like a Thanos shot. The audience knows who he is, word would likely spread by the time the third movie comes about what his larger role now means. It's enough for that gloom and doom enticement trick. Something as simple as a Joker card even works.

Especially since I think they'll go this route:

Which even a shot, if rumors on GG are true, would suffice for those shivers of doom.

So, while the graduation fight is out -- if the rumors are true -- we'd be looking at some other form of cliffhanger similar to Begins or Holmes.

I'm hoping for something more along the lines of the original, but with a little armored platting and meshed with contemporary tactical designs.

Second pic looks too much like Green Goblin from Raimi's films. First, eh. But Alex Ross? Oh boy, now there was art that I really loved.

It took the classic look of the Goblin and really updated it into looking really creepy yet still fitting in. I'm unsure how it work in this universe though.

the first pic honestly looks horrible

He's not my favorite artist, but I like how they changed his suit up to be patchy armor. I think it would be something if done correctly could translate well onto the screen.

You could almost use the top half of Alex Ross' and the bottom half of the first pic and I think that would fit. really it's just the mask that's off in the first pic.

I could see something similar to the Alex Ross concept art. That Goblin design is a transformation but he stay's human sized & grotesque at the same time.

They said Goblin's design in this movie is mostly black armor, dark green & spikes. Unsure if that means transformation or just suit.

I'll be honest, I thought the original stages for Green Goblin in Raimi Spiderman looked ridiculous.

For me it worked and showed that you could still have a mask while showing expressions like you thought there would be from reading the comics. Or maybe it was just SMTAS that makes that really work for me. Some alterations, sure, but the main and overall gist of tackling the goblin is there.

why? i was little back then so it didnt matter what he looked like

Man there is so much packed into this movie!! Peter, Gwen, Electro, Rhino, Norman, Harry, possible JJJ, possible MJ, possible Betty Brant, possible Vulture, Green Goblin reveal at the end. Let's hope that it will all mesh together well, lol.

You have to also remember Marc is opening up the Spidey verse so some wont play a big part just wait till comic con and besides might just be their regular self

Shailene is no longer playing Mary Jane in Amazing Spider-Man 2 nor any of the future films.

The assumed reasoning being that

A) Her inevitable schedule for the Divergent sequel will interfere with ASM3 and 4, creating a risk in her availability for the sequels.

B) They decided to remove Mary Jane to streamline the story as well as go a different direction. That direction being......

Sarah Gadon of "Cosmopolis" fame.

It seems that, in a preemptive strike, Webb and Sony casted the role of MJ in ASM3 (where she will now make her debut) VERY early to avoid a similar fate that Shailene ultimately suffered.

All of this has (except the exact reasoning for Shailene's complete departure) been confirmed via reports in the last 24 hours.

Gadon herself confirmed her involvement in the "ASM franchise" earlier today, despite a tweet earlier saying the reports of her casting being false.

I've got to say, Ms. Gadon is a hottie. I approve.

Green armored plating, latex mask, and a purple cloak. The elf hat couldn't work on a film.
