bet you anything they used this as a diversion to film some sort of important or action related scene with him while we were all watching the car get crushed elsewhere..

Nothing like ending a Spidey-filled day with Spidey himself giving you a salute and a high-five on my way outta the gym. Luckiest dude ever!

:D awesome! keep it going and you may get yourself a celeb friend, who happens to platy spidey:P

Love the pic with you and Shaliene, i honestly have no idea how someone can call someone like that ugly or even average. she is clearly way above that.

There is a two year gap between A2 and ASM 2, two years for Sony and Marvel to come to an agreement.
Marvel get to use their flagship title character.
Sony get pages and pages of exposure for their character.
Makes sense all round.

Do people really think they'll turn Harry into Venom?

Think realistically. What are the chances of Webb doing that? The man is not an idiot and he knows his source material. He knows the fans would be very upset at a decision like that.

In fact, think even more realistically. What are the chances of Sony being stupid enough to let Venom be ruined twice? Venom is one of the main factors that killed Spider-Man 3 and caused a lot of backlash towards Raimi and Sony from the fans. I'm assuming they've learned their lesson and won't try to half-*** Venom again.

Definitely agree on the idea of Harry as Venom.

He would take Ultimate Eddie Brock's place, instead of having to deal with introducing him for hours, etc. Harry would already be established in the universe.

AND, of course, Peter and Harry have their fallout like Eddie and Peter, so it still works.

Another cool thing that could come from this is the reason why Eddie uses drugs. So he can cope with the pain the symbiote inflicts onto him due to the bonding.

But realistically, I think Harry will be GG#2 or the Hobgoblin. Of course, we don't know what version yet. But soon. :)

No thanks to Harry as Venom. I'm fine with Ultimate Eddie Brock, but making Harry Venom would be about as bad as making MJ Black Cat to me.

They're two separate characters. And no matter what the ****** Ultimate Spiderman cartoon does, they should stay that way.

Yeah, I only want to see Harry as the Green Goblin myself.

Am I the only one not dying to see Spidey in Avengers?

I'm not dying to see him in the Avengers. I'm not against it either... kinda ambivalent.

I'd rather not. I like Spidey as a loner, and especially Webb's version.

I'd only be okay with Spider-Man being in The Avengers if the MCU doesn't influence the Spidey solo movies. I don't want them to turn into feature-length Avengers commercials.

To be fair, the only reason they would use Nolan's Batman for JL is simply for a cash in. No other reason whatsoever since Nolan's Batman is clearly not a good version to be used for Justice League especially post-TDKR.

Not that Sony and Marvel would have no financial reason whatsoever to use Sony's version of Spider-Man in their Avengers films but they seem to have at least some sort of plan or idea on how to integrate him in and do him justice. They also seem to partly do it for the fans as well while WB could care less.

You sound like they have a deal in place. Like it's happening.

Must've missed all those alien and gods references in Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk as well as the alien references in Cap, Thor, and IM2.

I wouldn't describe TASM as "gritty". Sure that it's a lot more grounded and mature than the Raimi films but "gritty" is something I would associate with Batman and the Punisher. TASM is not that dark. It has plenty of fun and lighthearted moments, as well as plenty of color.

Well, in Cap, you had the Odin box thingy and Red Skull being teleported somewhere else. You're kidding me about Thor right? Well either alien or beings from another dimension, Thor had something that was not of this world.

Iron Man. Fair point. But Iron Man 2 had the shield influence and the cap reference to connect them. And hulk. I swear it feels like that film is in some way being ignored to a degree. I would say that in terms of Tone, The Incredible Hulk is the odd one out. Now the question is, will they keep the tone of that film in any future hulk projects, or keep it line with the other Marvel films?

The Marvel films are all planned. They all have a basic idea how they'll all link for the Avenger films. Including the Webb spidey will feel very shoe horned it IMO.

TASM was grittier for sure. It had humour, it did have colour. But that doesn't mean it wasn't a grittier film.

Fair enough.

The thought of Spidey in a team up literally gives me chills.
As someone who grow up reading Marvel Team Up, Spidey interacting with other heroes would be a dream.

Sure you 'say' you don't want Spidey in the Avengers but if he showed up in the Avengers you would get chills just like me and you would be counting the seconds everytime Spidey was offscreen till he shows up again. C'mon, admit it.

haha ...imagine if that happened

I would love to see him going back and forth with iron man, Andrew Garfield and rdj just quipping up a storm would be awesome lol. Also I love the idea of him going into battle side by side with captain America, just two scrawny kids from New York marching off to save the the world.

after all the talk bout a vemon spin off id be surprised if sony didnt get webb to use venom at sum point, and i can see it maybe being harry, or daily bugle eddie, i cant see webb doin the friend route again with the ultimate eddie as its too similar to what they are doing with harry

The plan for Oscorp to appear in Avengers was significant because;

A) Disney/Marvel and Sony were talking and not only talking, coming to an agreement. The only reason the Tower didn't appear is because ILM couldn't render it in time NOT that Sony and Marvel couldn't come to an arrangement.

B) Marvel were open to having an item from the Webb universe in their movie and Sony were willing to let them.

Spidey in Avengers is beneficial for both parties. The question is are we talking tiny cameo (either Peter or glimps of Spidey) or a full on part.

I've read this several times, but I don't really get it. While Spidey did get some jokes in TASM, the main image he gives there is a mopey one. For every joke there are five scenes of him moping or sulking or scowling. Good performance by Garfield, but still, a particularly funny, quippy guy he was not, at least not often. Hoping for more of this in 2.

It sounded like nothing more than an easter egg. And I hope it remains that way. So nothing concrete about a cross over.

If Sony and Marvel can come to an agreement to allow spidey in the Marvel verse, then great. Just not Webbs version. Let Marvel have a version they can play with.

Garfield walking around the SHIELD helicarrier making fun of everyone would be worth the price of admission.

"They wouldn't make Harry Venom because it would upset the fans."

Oh, you poor, poor folks.
Here's another sentence, similarly structured.

"They would totally make Harry Venom because it would make the studios lots of money thanks to the inevitable spin-off."

Let's weigh these a little. And let's do it using reality-based scales please.

Yes, let's weigh two hypothetical potential events on a reality based scale.

They could have a Venom spin-off regardless of which character they use for him. They've had one planned for years already.

But do you realize how long that will be? It'll be close to 2020 before Webb's trilogy ends. And then quite some time after that before there's a reboot of the franchise. The Avengers trilogy will have already completed as well. So we can expect Spider-Man in a second Avengers trilogy in 2025 ish?

That's quite a long time.
