How to ruin/spoil a movie:
1. Hire Sony Marketing
Seriously this is ridiculous of how much Sony has revealed for this film. I remember when we were complaining we didn't have a trailer or any footage and now we have the exact opposite problem. I'd rather have no footage now.

But why? Sure, the imagery of his frozen head is freaky to look at, but I don't want Smythe to give him a robotic body or a clone body. I just want Norman either donning a Goblin costume or becoming Goblin-like ala a serum. While yes, Norman sending his son to die for him is wickedly evil let alone having Peter's parents killed, Webb and company couldn't have just had the after-the-credits scene be revealed that Norman was actually alive, locked away inside a chamber, and about to go do some "tests." Or simply having the Man in the Shadows come to him and say, "Your son failed." Norman could turn his head to the camera, look at us, and with a sneer say, "Then we try again" or something like that. Cut to black.
The answer is simple: That's the story they wanted to tell. They want sinister stuff going on at Oscorp. And effectively raising the most evil corporate bastard on earth from the dead fits right in with that. As does the spooky imagery. I'm fine with it. I actually like it. He'll still end up being GG. But they're adding creepy stuff to an already creepy character. Norman wants his health back. He and his apparently loyal associates will go to insane lengths to accomplish that. I can dig it. Of course it's fine if you don't.

Me too, man. Me too. I was really looking forward to seeing that scene for the first time in theaters. :/

Well I was expecting Gwen to die, but not Norman. This isn't the death I wanted confirmed. Still think this could all be an illusion by Mysterio hired by Norman to fake his death. Hes faked his death plenty of times in the comics although they were really retcons.

One thing's for sure, we're getting REAL mad sciencey now. I like it.

WHAT IF:

They're not going to regrow his body at all, but clone him? They need the head for... memories? (insert ridiculous technobabble explanation here) I suppose that would constitute regrowing a body. But starting over from scratch. Whatever. I don't even know what I'm saying anymore.

Of course, that may have been postulated by somebody already...

Look let's face it, no matter your thoughts on this debacle, 95% of you will see this movie opening day, 99.9% of you will see it at some point during its run and if its anywhere near the quality of Raimi's first two flicks 90% of you will end up loving it.

And may I ask how exactly is this out of character for Norman? Dude practically wrote the book on faking your death and coming back from the grave.

No one said they weren't going to like it... It just won't be as enjoyable now due to seeing so much of it. At least we know what we're paying to see although there isn't much to pay for if you've seen most of it. I'm still hyped, but C'mon Sony

It's just a tough one to gulp down. And to be honest, doesn't make a lot of sense. Couldn't Oscorp revive Norman somehow with Peter's blood or a serum they've created in the lab without decapitating him? I'm sure there's an explanation to all of this when the film comes out but right now I'm a mixture of angry, flummoxed, and flabbergasted.

If Man in the Shadows is the "planner" and Norman is the "mastermind" then they've certainly accomplished that by having him be beheaded. But this reminds me of Mr. Freeze and him sprouting out robotic spider legs and then being built a body to survive in. But I guess Webb wanted to go for more spectacle and this along with Electro is definitely embracing the wildness; the spectacle.

It was released in some spider-man mobile game.

Man it was purposefully released on this spider sense game
Haha! No way! Crazy.

I think it's such a strange eerie thing for a Spidey film. Not that I dislike it but really leaves you wondering what the heck happens next.

Money is being spent anyway right haha.

I get what your saying, but still it will be cool to see the events unfold (especially if its as good as TeeKay says).

So after the great clip of Electro and Spidey, we're treated with a little something to balance it out.

Sony marketing's way ahead of our league. They know how to lower expectations when needed :P

Idk, I'd call it unbalanced if his head is off haha

Unless they have Chris with white hair and a killer stache, I wouldn't worry about it looking like that. It'll look fine. Sevenwebheads posted a photoshopped image of the first official look at Goblin but with Cooper's face instead of Dehaan. And it looked damn good.

That'd be hawt, though.

I think it has the potential to make sense or to not make sense depending on whether or not we're made aware of the details in TASM3. It might've been that only the head could be properly stored with their tech for whatever reason. Or that Norman wanted a new body prior to his death. Be it regrown via Connor's serum, cloned, or mechanical. Not sure of the details of course. But we'll see. I'm excited for it.
