Orci and Kurtzman are terrible writers. I only think their saving grace was Star Trek which I think Abrams had a huge hand in making sure it didn't suck.
I can go on. Richard Parker lives in a universe where Spider-Man sticks to walls and is strong enough to lift cars, if you can accept that you pretty much have to go along with everything else.
You're nitpicking at this point. We can find a number of things that don't make too much sense in just about any film.
I don't like Star Trek but I liked this. Maybe the because of the way the lines were delivered rather than the actual lines themselves. That said I would have no problem if they didn't return.
Right. Let's introduce the Amazing Spider-Ham in the next movie, or how about the Legion of Losers? After all, it's fantasy right? Apparently anything goes! Wackiness!!!
In a recent interview with the Empire magazine, Marc Webb explained that the train was used by president Roosvelt at first. I don't remember more details, but you can look it up.
Talk about taking things to the extreme. This is a superhero movie and as such I give it more leeway than other genre movies. I gave the same leeway to movies like Avengers, Iron Man and TDK. If people want to start nip picking maybe I should start nit picking all the superhero movies I watch as well.
I didn't mind the lines as much as i did the fact that some characters weren't developed as much as i would have liked. They really had to explain the parents's storyline, something that dates back to the writers of the previous movie. I think that if the parents weren't there, they would have spent more time in developing the characters. And they are returning.
They should have concluded the parents story in the first film. Would have made TASM1 feel more satisfying and TASM2 less crowded.
I love the parents storyline though. That would have been better but would have been even better than that is to have not included the parents subplot at all.
I love the parents storyline though.
I didn't. The parents storyline bored me to tears, with no good pay off at the end. It was dull filler that could have been excised and better spent on developing characters that badly needed it, like the villains.

Agreed. Thematically/dramatically, there was no real payoff, catharsis or sense of real resolution- and certainly no emotional resonance. How these scripts get the green light, I will never know.
There was resolution for Peter as he got confirm from the horse's mouth he wasn't dumped on his aunt and uncle because his parents didn't love him.
From a personal point of view I was expecting something bigger to warrent the screen time devoted to this plot thread.
Yeah, that's why I noted "real resolution", because we, the audience already knew this info waaaaaay in advance. By the time Peter figures it out, there is no strong emotional catharsis/resonance for the audience.
But yes, I was expecting something more as well.
I thought the video would spell out 'Special Projects' and so Peter would have been put onto SP by his dad like Harry was put onto SP by his dad. That would have been a nice mirror.
