The Amazing Spider-Man 2 The Amazing Spider-Man 2 - User Review Thread! - SPOILERS! - Part 5

That's your opinion not a fact.

The most redundant response in message board history.

I thought the final fight looked incredible especially in 3D.

The 3D made it look worse. Magnified it.

I certainly preferred the effects in ASM2 than the other 2 superhero movies I've seen this year.

The Winter Soldier and DOFP walked all over TASM 2 with the effects, story, acting, and just about everything else.

So opinions are redundant? I like how certain people act like their viewpoint on a subject weighs in more than other people's thoughts. Its one thing not to like something, I understand that and I'm all for you to explain why, but making absurd comparisons that basically make fun of something others like is wrong. If you don't like it, we get it. Move on

I know haha and it ended up being replaced, not to mention it was the last scene in the film so I can understand why it wasn't rendered completely

Yeah haha. Honestly though I don't understand the CGI complaints, and I was one of the guys who didn't think the CGI looked all that great in the trailers. But the final product looked really good to me.

The CGI blowed me away,it was just perfect except for when Spidey is holding the vials on the truck, and seeing on IMAX 3D :hubba Bay god!

Saying that the CGI looks from the PS2 era is just....excuse me but that is pure hating, also picking screen shots from the first trailer that wasn't even finished...

One of the consesus among the critics is about the CGI witch are stunning.

Search for something else to hate pls.

In this Spider-man movie, you could literally not pick out cgi Spidey which is fantastic. There were a few weak links, but this is literally some of the best cgi to date.

So opinions are redundant?

No, pointing out that it's an opinion is. It's the lowest common denominator of responses. It's like the person who says it cannot think of an adequate response or argument to the point they're addressing, so they just say 'Yeah well that's just your opinion'.

It smacks of desperation to say something just for the sake of disagreeing because they can't offer a better rebuttal.

Your definition of what is an absurd comparison is obviously very different to the people making the comparisons. Said comparisons are being used to explain why they feel the way they feel about something. The CGI was weak overall in this movie. I would rate it among some of the weakest I've seen, which is bizarre because other comic book movies coming out around this time are executing it ten times better.

Who do you think you are to say that people are wrong to make comparisons and criticize this movie, and people should move on? No rules are being broken here. If you don't like it then you have three options;

1. Ignore them
2. Accept them
2. Move on yourself

But make no mistake the critics of this movie are not going anywhere just because some people don't like reading their opinions. I'm having a strong sense of deja vu from the TASM 2 pre release days when we used to have to get the Mods in to slap posters into line over attitudes like this.

Preach.

Understatement of the year thus far. :applaud

Really? I could. Every single time. Now, I don't think the CG is as bad as some do, but it also isn't nearly as good as some of the praise would suggest. I found it very middling, to be honest; there were very fluid sequences in some spots, while in others the CG was obvious and dodgy. The video game comparisons are not entirely unfounded with respect to those particular moments. In yet another area, this seems to be Man of Steel all over again. I wonder how many of you will cry foul when TASM 2 gets...ahem...'snubbed' at the Oscars for a VFX nod.

No way. There was some nice special fx in it, but predominantly the CGI was so obvious and some of it even video game looking. The whole final fight with Electro being a prime example of that. So was the final shot of the movie when he's swinging at 'Rhino'.

This is going round in circles. I won't persuade you any more than you can persuade me.

Has it ever gone at any other direction? Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and i've found out a long time ago that it's pointless discussing with people (at least over the Internet). No one's opinion is going to change.

Any discussion is futile.

So, to answer your question, no. I am not implying that it looks like a PS2 game. Nor am I in the minority about the fact that TASM2 had some awful cgi. Merely stating a fact.:cwink:

So what you're saying is, you didn't actually watch the movie and are solely basing this opinion on the trailers?

Gotcha!

The CGI in Captain America 2 was pitiful, I could tell when he was CGI every time. The winter soldier looked like something from a ps2 game. Ridiculous! The black widow seemed different from the posters as well, probably some CGI trick going on.

Hello? Nice dust guys, totally believable. Also, nice ship, as the kids say seems legit!

Ah the PS2 era, I miss thee.

Oh, it's the master cheif with wings! What terrible CGI there!

I know what you're thinking! "But wait BRAB, that's purely practical!" I have to tell you mortals, my sheer power of perception has picked up something stranger! Doth thou see the fire? It burns, it burns like my copy of "Ashes Cricket 2013", the graphical quality of both are not too far apart.

Need I even start of DoFP? I'll just post one screenshot to solidify my case

Sly Cooper did blue angry beast man better. Sighs

Obviously sarcasm, but really, this is how silly it looks when you try to dismiss a movies CGI with random screengrabs from a trailer.

The fact about CGI is that when you start to try to compare it to video games in 2014 based off in-motion, non final screenshots from a particular point in a movie, you're going to have a bad time.

CGI is probably the most subjective topic you could talk about regarding this movie, funny the people who enjoyed the film thematically also enjoyed the CGI, whilst the people that didn't enjoy it thought the CGI was "Crash Bandicoot" quality. It's almost as if someone's view on something can be reasonably skewed.

Come back when the blueray comes out, make your own screenshots, and try to compare them to a video game, really, try. If you can get video games with the same graphical quality of what we saw in TASM2, TWS or DoFP, then please for the love of god can someone PM me your specs or something? I want in on that action, all the polygons!

There's so many things that the movie legitimately did do wrong, so I do not see why we have to make CGI the focus, not now at least, maybe when we have HD, finished footage. If Avi Arad trawls through here, do we want him to see CGI complaints, or complaints about the depth of the villians? Heck, for all we know, "Better CGI" to him means putting the Sinister Six and Venom together in one 2 hour movie, so be careful.

thank u 4 tha flowers, Andrew

Thing is, I don't own a bootleg copy of the film, and won't take the time to download it, so I can post about how ridiculously awful the cgi was, and then get an infraction for it brah. Wait until the film releases on DVD, I'm sure tons of posters will gladly make GIFS of the film.

On the topic of CGI for this movie, imo (<---gotta make sure I throw that in there :cwink:) ASM2 falls into the same category that every other movie with a generous amount of CGI does. Some shots are flat-out amazing, some are 'par for the course,' and some look bad or as I like to say, they look 'patchy.'

It's just more of the same with ASM2 as with all the Spider-Man movies thus far. There's a few shots that will still look amazing 10 years from now, there's those ones in the middle that will look dated after a decade and there's several shots that look dated the day the film was released.

The best CGI in the SM movies to this day is the apartment fire scene in SM1. Hot damn that is solid cgi if I ever saw some.

All of those shots look fantastic, and more authentic than anything The Amazing Spider-Man 2 had.

I really love the Beast one. If only Electro looked half that intimidating.

Maybe it wasn't CGI?

No, it was all CGI.

Despite your smartass comments, the BW was different than in the posters. But that was photoshop, not CGI. :cwink: Also, those TWS shots are perfectly fine.

Imagine if they actually set an apartment building on fire, it wouldn't be safe, but what could come through that on film would be pretty awesome.

Sorry I came across as a smart*** (are we allowed to say that?), obviously it wasn't an accident, but I'm not very great at satire, so it was neccessary. (Your username helps me spell that)

I do stand by the fact that we should really cry out about the poor stuff in the film, I'm pretty sure almost everyone agrees that Dr Kafka was a mess!

Oh, I thought you were being petty and sarcastic, you can never tell on the net hahah

...and yea, Kafka sucked nuts.
