I think the execution of the ideas in TAS-M2 (and frankly, just some of the ideas themselves, like Harry needing Spider-Man's blood... just cause) is poor but overall, I saw the film as a natural evolution for the most part, with the Electro stuff just baffling the hell out of me. It did deliver on the inner lives and relationship stuff with Gwen and Peter, and those last few minutes of the film ALMOST make up for the messy elements that came before (this includes the continuation of the parent stuff which... I just didn't care about.) It's a very uneven film. Thor's sequel on the other hand was just off putting from the start. It begins with the END of a story that is already more interesting than all the combined minutes that come after. Thor, going from realm to realm, leading the armies of Asgard to quell uprisings and banditry that has popped up due to the Bifrost being destroyed for some time? Acting as a leader and ambassador from the All Father? That would have been interesting to say the least. But that's not to be. Instead we get time WASTED on Jane's sad sack date, Selvig being "funny" crazy, Kat Dennings doing here schtick WAY too much and a main plot that is pushed forward by two of the dullest written villains imaginable in Kurse and Mal. (Which is a shame as those two from the comics have a lot of potential) All the action was lackluster, with the only time our hero gets to register in the story as a full fledged character being when he shares time with Loki. We get a death that doesn't resonate and a finale that was far more interested in making me laugh than filling me with awe or excitement. While TAS-M2 made me angry at times, TDW did it FAR more, and more often.
