BTW, this is a little off topic, but if any of haven't seen my fan art then I would like you to check it out please? I want to know what you guys think.

sorry for self advertising D:

keeping Garfield and putting him in the MCU would make most people happy. except for the hardcore Tobey Maguire fans.

I don't know about that, I think a lot of people are open to Marvel recasting, and they will because it's the most logical thing to do, you don't take the actor from the previous franchise (especially when the majority aren't particularly fond of it) and put him in the new series, it wouldn't feel like a new series and people would be confused if this was the same franchise. I feel bad for Garfield, but he had his chance and Sony messed that up for him. It sucks too because he's really passionate about the character, it's just a shame that he got cast in a franchise that only exists so that Sony can keep the rights away from Marvel.

As much as I'd like you to be right, I'm not so sure anymore. :csad:

Then as far as I'm concerned, Sony should tell Marvel to **** off and go forward on their own. :funny: If Marvel really wanted Spidey bad enough, they'd agree.
EXACTLY. If Marvel really wanted Spidey, then they would be fighting to get him. They don't NEED spidey. they're doing fine with their MCU.

I think Garfield was cast as Spider-Man only at the wrong time and under the wrong circumstances. If the reboot in 2012 had been made by Marvel instead of Sony... he could have been up there with RDJ and Chris Evans making quips in the Avengers. But what's done is done.

You do realize that Sony has been considering a reboot regardless of the deal with Marvel, right?

...and most of their ideas sound absolutely dreadful.

Well of course they don't "need" Spider-Man or any of the other characters they don't have the rights to. But they really do want him. They've been negotiating a deal for some time now, but the ball is in Sony's court. Marvel isn't going to "fight" to get him back because that won't do them any good. They have to come into an agreement that suits both companies well enough.

I KNOW!! it's such a SHAME!! argh dumb sony :wall::wall::wall::wall:

Sony: Marvel, **** off. Don't try to save us when our Spider-Man movies are getting critically panned and becoming unprofitable. We don't need you or your glorious, beloved MCU that is making billions every year and.... oh, wait. Actually, we might want to partner with you after all. I mean we could just continue to make TASM movies and make the same mistakes over again or reboot. But, y'know...

Really? That would be the stupidest thing Sony could do right now.

How do you know they're not trying to get him? You and Daltonio are making some quick judgments here.

Sony: Hey! If anyone is going to mess up the Spider-Man series, it's going to be us.

But diehard Garfield fans (or Maguire fans) and diehard MCU fans is not the GA. They'd most likely want to sever ties and establish their own version of Spider-man after TASM2's performance. Even Sony has been considering another reboot without Marvel.

Exactly. If Sony isn't committed to the series, it definitely won't be a deal breaker.

Yep, I'm aware of that. But I also know that some of the execs were against the idea of a reboot and trying to keep the series going as is. That's the thing about believing emails from a hack like that. We have no idea of the context. There's thousands of emails Sony send out a year. Just because one email says something doesn't mean there aren't five more that contradict it. As of now, they're probably just spitballing ideas. Who knows what would actually make it to the big screen.

Anyways, I stand by my statement. Sony's got something Marvel wants. They should be using that to their advantage instead of letting them call all the shots. Sony can still make money on Spidey without Marvel. All they have to do is lower their expectations. They thought TASM2 would make Avengers-style money, but it was never going to, no matter how good or bad it was.

But they didn't make money. That's the thing - they've made a profitable character unprofitable, and the biggest money making part of the deal they don't own.

$700 million's great, amazing even, but when you don't make a profit (or scrape a minuscule one at best) then you know you have an issue.

Didn't Avi Arad tell Sony to make a Venom movie because it would sell more toys? Despite the fact that Sony makes 0 profit from merchandise sales and all of that money would go to Disney...
Dont dis Avi. Avi is king bruh, he only wantz watz bes. he iz genius

Yeah, I admit that. All of us are. Until we get something official, none of us really have a clue what's going on.
