what sony needs to do is make a deal with marvel so they can integrate TASM into the MCU. that way they would keep their continuity instead of ANOTHER reboot and they would KEEP and GAIN fans of the spider-man franchise. and marvel helps them make the film so the films are good and sony gets a ton of money as well as marvel. bada bing bada boom. genius

I'm not a psychic, but TASM3 will more than likely continue the trend of SM movies making less and less money. I can't imagine it reaching the $700M earned by TASM2.

And the production budget would still be about $200M+ along with a major marketing budget. Are these movies even profitable for Sony at this point?
No, and that's why this madness needs to stop. Sony isn't capable of producing a billion dollar Spider-Man. Disney on the other hand is.

I'm all for this idea as long as they scrap future spin-off film plans. Have TASM 3 feature Kraven or Mysterio and just make a good Spider-Man film with ONE villain. It would eliminate a ton of confusion, a third Spider-Man and it'd keep Garfield and his fans happy. I have no problem with him staying in the role. However, if the deal depends on a reboot and a new Spidey in order to be in the MCU, bye bye Garfield.

That was my 6,666th post... Woah.

Even so, putting TASM into the MCU doesn't really work, with or without the spin-off films. TASM2 ended with a whole story that needs to be resolved about Harry, Oscorp, the man in the shadows, and the Sinister Six being created. It would be weird to incorporate that franchise into the MCU never to follow up on those things. It would be best to just start from scratch.

keeping Garfield and putting him in the MCU would make most people happy. except for the hardcore Tobey Maguire fans.

You mean putting Garfield in the MCU would make most Garfield fans happy. I am a fan of both Tobey and Andrew... but I don't think Garfield should be in the MCU.

Surely, ASM3 and Sinister Six are both dead now. Marvel won't want a movie with Spidey villains but no Spidey coming out less than 18 months before Infinity War Part I.

And ASM3 is supposed hit cinemas the same time - even the same month - as Infinity War Part I. The stink from ASM2 killed any momentum, and Sony was looking for a way to rekindle...they likely found saving grace with the Marvel partnership so imagine they're going to wait for Infinity War and go from there. Infinity War will almost break past a billion so Sony would reap any rewards from that.

you have a very good point there. but we're talking about the amazing writers at MCU, im sure they can figure something out. idk

I don't see Marvel agreeing to that. Not after TASM2.

TASM2 left such a sour taste in most people's mouths that I think any sequels would really suffer greatly from it.

but keeping andrew would make garfield fans happy and putting him in the MCU would make people happy because you get to keep this wonderful actor for spiderman without a reboot AND you get your precious spidey in along with the Avengers. it's a win win

Even the best writers at Marvel wouldn't be able to carry the baggage from TASM2. The damage to that franchise has already been done and Marvel doesn't think its a franchise worth saving.

I don't mean to get in the middle of anything, but as far as I'm aware, Daltonio has been nothing but a class act while all of these rumors have been swirling around. While I may not agree with his opinions on the franchise, he's had to sit through the constant bashing of a product that he's thoroughly enjoyed, all while being one of a few members standing up for it.

If the deal doesn't go through, I expect the few people who support Sony to show some excitement the same way fans of the MCU have been bashing the company. I'll be frustrated as hell for not getting my way, but fans of Webb's movies can celebrate all they want.
Thank you for this, WGP.

I was trying to say something similar, but I think you summed it up better than I could. I really wasn't intending to troll anyone, I was just expressing my excitement after reading the article just like I'd expect any of you guys to do when news about a possible deal comes out. I have a feeling I might have already been put on his ignore list though... Oh well.

His loss.

It's a joy reading your posts, mostly because I know where you're coming from completely. :yay:

well if you say that then that means that they would all depend on MCU's spider-man REBOOT being VERY successful. if that doesn't happen then spider-man films are dead in the water. how are we suppsosed to know if Marvel would make good spider-man movies?? since all of this crazy stuff that's going to be happening with the avengers and infinity wars and all that jazz, plus tons of new characters being introduced alongside the avengers. how is such a huge and popular character like spider-man going to fit in there when they are planning to start completely fresh? TASM series may seem messy now, but this reboot idea just sounds exhausting.

Not really. AG is a respected actor but his role as Spider-Man is still somewhat divisive. Most people are not attached to his version of the character and I believe he is replaceable. The TASM films left a very sour taste in people's mouths, so I don't think most people want to see them connected to the beloved MCU. It's not happening anyway so forget it. Sorry man. :(

But diehard Garfield fans (or Maguire fans) and diehard MCU fans is not the GA. They'd most likely want to sever ties and establish their own version of Spider-man after TASM2's performance. Even Sony has been considering another reboot without Marvel.

There is always a "chance" that the SM reboot will fail or be unsuccessful. But honestly, anything is better than what Sony's done to Spider-Man at this point. With Marvel's track record, I don't think there would be much to worry about.

well this leads into a whole other argument that i feel like not having right now. so i'll leave it at that. it's still a posibility though. and the MCU films aren't that great. there's a few golden ones but some of them are quite lackluster.

I wouldn't be so sure about that, the possibility of TASM 3 is higher than Marvel rebooting Spidey at this point, IMO.
As much as I'd like you to be right, I'm not so sure anymore. :csad:

I don't see Marvel agreeing to that. Not after TASM2.
Then as far as I'm concerned, Sony should tell Marvel to **** off and go forward on their own. :funny: If Marvel really wanted Spidey bad enough, they'd agree.
