Spidey was hella annoying in TASM2 imo.
His jokes need to be funny this time around.

Spider-Man is not Batman.

TASM was initally planned to be a "less action, more highschool drama" moderate-budget movie though. That's why they hired Webb cause he's good at all that relationship stuff. Afterwards however producers decided to make it more action packed. That's why Horner said "they just wanted more action and didn't care for Webb's input" in his recent interview. Basically those dumbasses at Sony had no idea what they were doing from the very beginning.
That's an interesting take on things, considering their second film was a co-production with another studio.
I think people forget that The Incredible Hulk was the result of a collaboration between Marvel and Universal. Hulk exists in the MCU because two studios were able to come together on a film. The only reason that The Avengers was able to include the scene that cracked up audiences everywhere was that two studios *gasp!* worked together to bring a character into a new film franchise where Marvel characters could coexist.

Don't pretend you didn't know exactly which scene I was talking about.
What did you think of Spider-Man's personality in TASM1?Each to their own, I thought Spider-Man was hilarious. So I personally want Spider-Man to be just like he was in ASM2.

I guess I'm not the only one that noticed the tonal shift in the third act. it felt more like TASM1's tone towards the end.A little 'off,' like Spider-Man is finding his personality but isn't there yet. Spider-Man actually comes off a little unlikeable when he webs up the car thief. Spider-Man (for me) was much better in the sequel. But after watching both movies again I think I prefer the tone (dark/realistic) of the first movie. So the tone of ASM but with the Spider-Man of ASM2. Basically Sony should have built on ASM rather than throwing it all away to chase after Avengers money, making a complete tonal shift with ASM2.

I'm sure Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man 2, would have been very different from Sony's The Amazing Spider-Man 2.ASM tonally is consistant throughout the movie but in ASM2 the tone is all over the place. You can tell Webb had one movie in mind and actually made the shots to make that movie and then Sony came in and made crucial changes with made the pacing and tone unbalanced. You only have to look at the trailer to see the sub plot (Oscorp are watching you) that is completely dropped in the movie. No wonder Garfield had a rant about Sony in the media.

And I'm just still here liking TASM and loving TASM2.![]()
Same here. I really like both movies despite seeing the flaws. With that said, I would have no problem with the ASM universe being shelved and going in a totally new direction.
t:My opinion: word of mouth prevented it from joining the billion dollar club. Best marketing they can get is early buzz, that's why they released it in other countries before the us. In the end though, that did them more harm then good, it didn't get the hype they thought they would from the international market.

The "Not a shaker?" line wasn't bad. It just didn't sit well with me knowing that he was making those kind of quips in a high speed car chase.
Rhino's "I'm a killa!" was just flat out irritating.
It being a crap movie created bad WOM. First step is to make a good movie.
Yeah, not one of the five Spider-Man movies has managed to earn a laugh from their quips. (From myself anyways)
The Raimiverse lacked it and the Webbiverse failed to correct it. Third time's the charm, right?
Personally speaking I preferred the Ang Lee version of Hulk to the Marvel version but the audience didn't like the AL version for the reason I stated, they wanted 'HULK SMASH!'
All they need is that return to quality, that is what will bring the franchise back in the long run. Better marketing than any ad campaign
For me, it's very easy to overlook the flaws in the movie just because of how deep the contrasts are, when it's bad it's bad but when it's great it's great!t:
That being said, at this point we need solid ground, the superhero film scene is changing
