People are still trying to undermine this films success? LOL!

Quote:
Sony’s successful The Amazing Spider-Man 3D reboot should come in at around $9.8M today and maybe as high as $10M, which would be a good -51% compared to last Friday. The Weekend should improve each day on the drop and end up with $32M and a cume of around $197M domestic. On Tuesday, a week after opening, Spidey hit $400M worldwide and Sony is confident it will end up at $800M. (Interesting how Spidey or Scrat were either #1 or #2 in international theaters country by country last weekend.) There’s no doubt this franchise restart with another origins story for Marvel’s most popular character is a success, even if it didn’t break box office records or reinvent the genre or even please fanboys. So Sony Pictures Entertainment chairman Amy Pascal and vice chairman Jeff Blake deserve kudos for taking a risk.

I'll take the word of one the biggest names and websites in showbiz reporting over the grousing of a few skeptics and malcontents on SHH. :woot:

I don't think anybody on here said that this movie was gonna bomb.

800m would be incredible especially when you consider the general were pretty 'meh' on the idea of a reboot.

The profit from IM and ASM will be about the same. 80-90 m before dvd and tv rights.

Not at all because Sony Pictures does not get as big of a take from the international numbers, and you're also talking about a movie that was more expensive to make.

The movie is not a failure, but it's not a huge success either.

Yeah ASM was more expensive to produce and market but it should make an extra 225 m worldwide.

Ultimately it will make around the same at the box office. The difference in domestic and overseas studio share is not enough to make Iron Man that much more profitable.

ASM might even be as profitable as Spider-man 3 since SM3 had a bigger budget.

SM3 had a $258 million budget and made $336 domestic and $890 WW.

This had a budget of $230 and will make $250 tops domestic and about $700-$800 WW.

So no...it won't be as profitable as SM3.

Whatever.

Again you miss what I said, studios get a smaller percentage of box office returns from overseas than they do domestic. Iron Man was far more profitable for Marvel Studios than TASM will be for Sony. But the point is it didn't have to be. Sony was trying to keep the franchise alive so they didn't have to give the rights back to marvel, and now they can do a sequel.

But yes.....infinitely better.

Heh, I don't think it'll be a surprise that TDKR will do good in the box office :cwink:

Maguire also took money from the back end which I'm pretty sure isn't the case for any actor on ASM.

Maguire was paid a ton more than Garfield..

Which I don't understand, I don't even know of any Maguire's roles besides Spider-Man.

Never watched those movies..

So.. yea...

:/

Me neither. Basically I like Maguire's take on Peter Parker but I just prefer Garfield's take, it just seems more genuine, more believeable. Also you can't blame Maguire for his personality (or lack of) in the Spidey suit as Spidey appears as written but if Maguire were given Spidey's lines from ASM 'you have the mind of a schooler, sir' I just don't see him pulling off the quick fire snarky wit, I just don't.

He demanded truckloads,50M combined for SM4 and SM5 was his demand

In contrast Garfield got 500,000 for his role in SM1 and despite that, the way he threw himself into that role was amazing

Best comic book related performance after Heath Ledger's without a doubt

Spider-Man 1 was phenomenally successful. Ergo, Maguire got a lot for the sequels.

The hell you talking a about?

Maguire got $5M for SM1, $12M for SM2 and $17M for SM3

I found his performances to be severely underwhelming and disingenuine. He was completely miscast.

agreed. Man, imagine if we would've gotten Spider-Man 4... I'm so happy they rebooted
