I agree with you. It does have the potential to make a good debate, and I'm sure many level-headed posters addressed it in that way. On the other hand, this is the internet. For every logical point offered on both sides, I'm sure there were ten people screaming and starting flame wars. Fanboys, as a whole, get too protective of things sometimes.

Even when I joined, there were still times when the debate got a little too ridiculous. You had some people analyzing things to the nth degree. Talking about how having organics took away the meta-nature of Peter's spider-man powers and all that.

Yeah, except there was probably a solid ten or more pages of debate about that one stupid scene. It wasn't as epic as the perma-white debate, but by far the most annoyingly stupid debate I've ever seen.

Before that, the "IS THAT VENOM IN THE EYE!" Had the crown. Six or Ten unseated it. It has yet to be de-throned simply because I have seen nothing to match the utter stupidity of it.
Yes the six ten debate is the worst of all time...nothing was harder to read then that ******ed argument lol

And unlike most other debates, it had absolutely no bearing on the story or tone of the film whatsoever. Whether he said "six" or "ten," it got the exact same point across: Joker's an a******.

With the whole Ultimate vibe I've been hearing about this film, anyone think they may go the death of spidey route?

I feel they're setting up the death of Gwen in the next one. Wonder if spidey will bite the bullet in number 3?

Presumably if we get to 3.

I agree that arguing over stuff like whether or not Spidey has organic or mechanical webshooters or whether or not the Joker wears make-up or has bleached skin can indeed be ridiculous. That's because those are debates about the creative direction a film is taking, which could very well work within the context of the overall film. That's different, however, than debating how well or not a film is shot, edited, and scripted based upon how a particular scene plays out. Especially since the whole reason why the filmmakers choose to release a clip of the movie beforehand is to give people an idea of what the whole movie will be like and judge it for themselves as to whether or not its worth seeing.

@ stillanerd

Here's my answer to that.
Obviously you have a lot of sexual tension built up inside of you, that is why you feel the need to criticize everything.
I recommend you to go to the bathroom and not come out for at least 10 minutes, or however long it takes for that tension to be released.

Well, with both Permawhite and Mech/Organics they both had good debates within them. However, the problem with both is that they simply went too long. Permawhite lasted about half a year, but all the points (on both sides of the debate) were exhausted within the first month. It just kept going in circles. Mech/Organics did the same, except it lasted for years instead of months.

I appreciate your concern over by health and well-being, but rest assured not only am I quite relaxed already, but I also don't need to act on any base sexual urges at the present time, thank you very much. Besides, why should I give myself an added headache by having to clean up a gigantic mess in the bathroom? :oldrazz:

People actually argued about whether or not Joker had make-up or permawhite? Wasn't that bloody obvious during the interrogation.

Just look both ways before playing with yourself.
You'd want to pay more attention than the car thief did;)

Well, it seems like the internet brings out the inner *****e in everybody.
It's like Andrew Garfield said, the anonymity of it all can get to you.
I've crossed over to the dark side a few times myself.

I use to look around this site back in the SM3 days, around 2006, but I never visited the forums. I kinda wish I was here back then.
SM3 was so exciting. SM3 got me on the internet to research about movies and stuff.

Oh of course. Once it gets to that point, that's when it's time to calm down. Especially since, as I said, it's arguing over creative differences which are subjective.

No, they knew the Joker was wearing make-up before the film was released. The argument was whether or not the Joker should be wearing make-up at all because, in the comics, the Joker looks the way he does because of him falling into a vat of chemicals, and that him not having that origin in Nolan's film was seen as a betrayal of the source material. Not to mention people initially didn't like the way the make-up looked on Heath Ledger and were still operating under the school of thought that only Jack Nicholson and/or Mark Hamill were the best at playing the Joker. But once the film came out and Heath Ledger gave such a stellar performance, nobody cared anymore that he was wearing make-up or how it looked. In fact, the Joker wearing make-up and not having his origin explained actually served to underscore just how sinister and creepy he actually was.

And lose my eyesight completely?! No thanks. :oldrazz:

Man quite the history lesson on debates here today. Glad I didn't have to take part in any of those haha

I think they will and miles will be SM in te next film series

You think they'll ever put Miles Morales on film?

...

:pal:

EDIT: Especially if it means killing Peter Parker?

:pal:

Anything is possible
Which is like saying that Marvel's gonna announce a reboot of Howard the Duck. They're never going to kill Peter Parker in the movies. Their target audience consists in a large part of children who don't want to see their favorite superhero die. And introducing a new Spider-Man will alienate the general audience who knows nothing about Ultimate Spider-Man.

Agreed. For a little while there was some debate about if he was wearing make up or not. And even after it became obvious he was, there were still a few holding out with some crazy debates. Some people thought that the makeup look was actually flesh makeup that he had let run off him, and some even thought that he was actually bleached white, applied flesh makeup, and then applied white makeup over that...yeah. And then there was teh school of thought where people thought that he would leave the makeup on so long it would somehow bleach his skin.

But mostly it was about the change itself. A lot of people were upset because they directly associate the bleached skin origin with the ambiguity of Joker's past. So many thought that the absence of Joker's bleached skin would mean no ambiguous past. Obviously that proved untrue.

I was actually a perma-white supporter, but for a different reason. I didn't mind the makeup, but one thing that drove me nuts was that there was a school of thought who argued that bleached skin was too "unrealistic." This really annoyed me because the bat films aren't THAT realistic. They have many instances of impossible things occuring. I always thought that Nolan chose the look he did purely because he liked the visual look of it. And I believe my view was enforced once Two-Face was shown. Two-Face's look is not realistic in the slightest. Not only would a man never be able to survive a burn like that, he somehow was able to move his eye and jaw even though the muscles required to do so were burned away. So yeah, that argument always annoyed me.

One interview avi mentions that they ran out of story to tell with the rami series I think going with the ultimate/miles route they can keep it from becoming stale

Plus Garfield also mentioned in an interview of he's hopeful a Latino/black actor may take over for him as far as spiderman films go

The GA doesn't really know amazing spiderman comics there are people out there with most they know about the character are from the cartoon and rami series

And both the cartoon and the Raimi series (and all subsequent versions of Spider-Man) have used Peter Parker. No one is going to recognize Miles Morales as Spider-Man, except for the people who remember the media uproar about having a black/latino Spider-Man. It would be like casting an Asian Superman. It's just not going to happen. It's not racism or anything, it's just keeping a character the way that the audience will recognize him (or her) best.

Listening the whole score right now, I'm on the second track now. But, I scrambled the tracks and gave them different names before I read them (to avoid spoilers) so it's not the actual second track, but anyway

Man this score is just epic! It's really brave to try something like this with a modern movie. This movie has to try really hard to not impress me, everything just looks, and now also sounds good :funny:
