Is there some suspension of belief with regards to Batman seemingly to appear and disappear out of nowhere? Of course, but it is a lot more plausible within the context of the film for two reasons. First, we are shown that Bruce Wayne was trained in the art of theatricality and deception by the League of Shadows, including the art of stealth, so we have an explanation as to why, despite being a normal person without superpowers, he appears to have this supernatural ability to appear and disappear quickly. And second, notice that anytime Batman in those films seems to pop up out of nowhere, it's always happens in mostly open space where there is plenty room for a person to maneuver around with lots of escape opportunities.

In the case of Spider-Man and the carjacker scene, yes he has superhuman speed, but he is also in an enclosed and compact space, specifically the backseat of car which the car thief has to break into since it has locked doors and rolled up windows and not a whole lot of room to maneuver around in. Now is it possible that when the car thief used his electronic unlocking device that it unlocked all the doors at once allowing for Spidey to quickly get in? Maybe. And is it also possible that Spidey quickly opened the back door and left just as the quickly as he got in (some have heard there was was what sounded like the closing of a door just as the car jacker got out). Unfortunately, the scene either doesn't make this clear enough or doesn't really allow much room for either of those possibilities, IMO.
That still doesn't make sense. You cannot be "trained" in disappearing quickly and silently in the blink of an eye. If Batman can do it, Spider-man can do it

Leary's facial expression when Gwen says "No I don't want coco!" is hilarious hahaha! I love that guy, I think he'll be one hell of a great character.

It could be important for the general audience, and especially movie goers who are also Spider-Man fans, if similar questions come for them while they're watching the film.

More than likely not as that part will be over so quickly and it'll be on with the rest of the film and actual story.

It is to you because you're watching it over and over searching for unnecessary answers.

Most people will just think "wow, how'd he do that?... OH, he's Spider-Man!".

Same! You ever watch Rescue Me? So great!

I'm talking about the clip in page 1

No I haven't! I should look it up sometime soon! I haven't seen Leary in any movie tbh.

You won't regret it, just about the best thing this side of The Sopranos! Funny, cool and heartfelt!

Quite savage in parts but really really awesome TV. He also writes and stars in it.

Thanks for the recommendation! :)

Honestly anyone who takes the time to write a post that long is ridiculous...

Ridiculously ridiculous. It's a movie. He's the amazing spider man. He's able to do amazing things. I honestly don't care how he got in or out the car. We saw on the set videos that they used two spider mens to film this scene. We saw that in the pic too. Cuz while the spider man who surprised and attacked the car jacker the other spiderman was watching the whole time. We all saw this in the pics months ago.... Big deal. It's still gonna be amazing no matter what.. Already gots my tickets :woot:

I wonder who else is gonna try to "analyze" this scene hehe

OR, and I know this is tough cause it's the internet and no one ever wants to wait for anything :woot: , but what if there is a scene or a few scenes before it that establish his speed and his abilities?? Then there will be no need to ask questions. I know it's tough but people have to remember none of these clips are in a specific context. We have guesses yeah but nothing concrete.

In real life, maybe not. But within the context of Batman Begins, we are shown how the League of Shadows does this, which also explains how Bruce is able to do it as Batman despite him being a normal human being with no super powers.

I just assume Spidey hid under the seat and the carjacker was too freaked out to notice.

:o

How the filmmakers filmed the scene and how the scene looks on film are two different things, though.

Maybe. But I do think it's a potential problem if more than enough people watching that scene go "How the hell did he get into that car?" vs. "Damn! That dude is fast!"

I don't but that's me. BUT, again, I don't see why there wouldn't be something establishing what he can and can't do. He does have to become spider-man..he tests his abilities, saw that footage in NYC at the event in February and sometimes, just sometimes, you don't want to hold the audiences hand. You want to assume they're smart enough to put some things together based on information you give them. If I establish that this cat is extra fast and extra quick, then you can believe that he could hop in a car and hop out *snap* just like that

I wasn't going to get involved but I can't help myself. There are plenty of times in horror movies where the antagonist is suddenly in the back seat of the car. If Spider-Man can carry up to ten tonnes in weight then his own body weight must feel like paper to him, allowing him to be extremely quiet.

People are not going to worry about the issue you are addressing. They will be too impressed with Spidey's attitude to notice. You are putting way to much thought into this.

Yeah, that too lol. Eventually you just have to trust your audience to go with you in what you do. If you've done a bad job establishing stuff from jump then you're in trouble but if you haven't they'll suspend disbelief and just go with you on whatever journey you're telling.

Agreed. The mystery of the situation makes things far more exciting. If they had shown how Spidey gets into the back seat of the car, that would kill some of the fun from the scene. If Stillanerd wants establishment, it is in that scene, when Spidey leaves the car. He is already gone by the time the door is even closed. I personally think it is a great portrayal of Spidey's speed and agility. I mean come on. If the guy can dodge incoming bullets from point blank range, I think it is pretty safe to assume that Spidey is incredibly fast and light on his feet.

If fatass Leatherface could get in the backseat before that chick started to drive at the end of TCM: The Beginning, so can Spidey.

Considering how neat what I saw of clips are till now, they cancel many of my concerns about the movie, I know I will be less skeptical

One more thing, I'll try to watch this one in theaters as soon as I can, unless all shows are 3D, my siblings tried 3D and regretted it, guess we have a cheap imitation here, and the fact that we all put glasses on is tick worthy

LOL Awful movie but good point

and yeah, I'm with you Ashes..sometimes, you can explain TOO much and it just loses something. I get into that anytime I'm writing a script where it's just too much exposition and just takes the fun out of it and makes me feel like I'm walking my audience along when I should just trust them to go with me. Seeing him get out of the car would've sucked..it was good hearing the door close ever so gently and then him show up with the hurricanrana

Yeah. You can see he has Lucha Libre influences in his fighting style, which I think really suits Spidey. He isn't a powerhouse like the Tobey Maguire version. This version appears to use his speed to best his opponents.
