So I've missed out on like 15 pages since yesterday. Can anyone explain in 2 sentences or less what I missed? Any who successfully does this will get a cookie. A big one.

Basically we got another bad review, and everyone got down, but then BAM, we got a bunch of really positive reviews including one from Eggyman, so everyone is back to being excited again. This film is looking to be along the lines of X-Men First Class or Batman Begins.

BTW, the pull quote comes from Badass Digest by Devin Faraci, the same one who was informed by three different sources about the "Peter gets powers from his dad and the spider activates them" rumor. Anyway, here's a link to the article, as well as what he heard about the New York screening (he also states he'll probably be "the last guy on the web to see the movie") as well as his take on the car jacker clip:

By the way, for those keeping score: The Amazing Spider-Man screened in New York last week. There were a handful who liked it (mostly people you never heard of, to be frank), a few who felt it was forgettable and unnecessary, and some who hated it. The biggest Spider-Man fan I know found it to be a travesty.

I think this guy is a self-appointed agent for Chris Nolan. ;)

Hmm just something I thought of now.

Am I the only one who thinks Oscorp in this film doesn't seem like a company that would work on a glider (the one Green Goblin uses)? In Raimi's Spider-Man, it was more of a weapon invention company. In this film it feels different.

I just really hope we don't get the Ultimate Green Goblin in the next film! I want the classic one with bombs and glider and stuff like that. But this kind of Oscorp looks more like something that would create the Hulk-wannabe.
I imagine Oscorp is like the 3M of the marvel world. 3M is literally into EVERYTHING. Cars. Medicine. Home care. Adhesives. Robotics. Consumer electronics. Digital audio and video. Chemical. Military. The list goes on and on.

Midnight tickets went on sale today at my local theater. I bought one on impulse, but now I can't shake this feeling that Sony's going to add earlier pre-screenings at say, either 8 or 9 pm.

Faraci's a ****head that has weird resentments toward geek culture considering his job. His opinion is pretty worthless.

While his Devin is worthless I don't think he was wrong about there being a more elaborate (not necessarily better) subplot about Peter having a propensity towards surviving the genetically altered spider bite.

A ton of the footage that was apparently cut definitely seemed to hint towards that before Sony chickened out (probably for the best in this case).

Whatever minor hints there were of that in the trailers isn't in the movie. So maybe we'll see them in a sequel, who knows.

More likely they were just completely cut due to screen testing reactions. So Sony told Webb to just get rid of that subplot altogether.

Which, if that is indeed the case, may give credence to the other rumor that Sony execs were uneasy about the film. Maybe now they're more comfortable with the finished cut.
