The Amazing Spider-Man: The Game

I know a lot of people have asked for this, and I think they are doing it actually. From Kotaku: "'new gameplay feature' that, Lehiany teased, is designed 'for you to feel like Spider-Man.'" And "Forgive me if I misunderstood his accent (he's French-Canadian), but I believe he said 'It's an acrobatic tool in the game.'"
I'm interested to see how well they handle it

I'm writing the story for it. Spoiler alert, I'm going to include Rhino and at least 37 symbiotes.

I can totally see Rhino be the mastermind of it all!

Damn. I was hoping for 36 symbiotes. 37 is just too much.

Spoiler tag you *******

Just for that, i'm throwing in a scene where you fight symbiote Wolverine for no reason... Oh, and Luke Cage teaches you how to dance like a black man. And Julia Stiles plays MJ.

Final boss leak: Rhino fused with all 37 symbiotes to create a literal giant pile of ****.

Can I eat Moon Knight to learn how to drive his metal bird?

And then when we finish the boss battle we find out the boss was actually a clone and then we have to fight the original only to find out later there is still a clone loose.... With symbiote powers... And is from 2099

****, please don't give us 2099 Spider-Man. I liked the character, but don't want to see him in another Spider-Man game for a while.

I don't mind Spidey 2099 in a game, I hope no symbiotes, they need to take a real long break from them, even anti-symbiotes

I want to see the death of Ben in this game in a flashback

While I agree with, it is frustrating to see that with all the focus on 2099, and even bringing in Peter David to write for one of the games, they STILL screwed up the world of Spidey 2099. They got Miguel wrong for one of the games, they never explored anything beyond Alchemax and tiny bits of Nueva York, never saw any of the supporting characters, never saw ANY of the actual 2099 villains, with them just making up 2099 re-hashes of classic ones, etc.

I'd like a break from Miguel too, but still wish one day, when they get regular Spidey "right", they can actually bring Miguel justice too.

They did Amazing Spidey justice in a few games, just not the combat system everyone thinking Arkham is wishing for

I agree, Venom is one of the most overused characters in video games
Doc Ock did give notable hard time to Spider-Man, but Norman gave both Spider-Man & Peter a hard life, Ock is more obsessed with his work, Norman pays a lot more attention to Spider-Man

But that's what makes Ock and Spidey's stories so classic- the fact that he just wants to destroy the man IN the costume, and not OUTSIDE of the costume. A classic bad guy/good guy fight, which made their battles so fun to read. Ock was so close to Spider-Man without ever putting the effort into learning his secret identity! Ock actually LIVED in the house Peter grew up in, as a boarder in Aunt May's house for crying out loud! The dude was ploting crimes and how to take out Spidey, in the dude's room! LOL I love Ock, he's such a great character/villian/advasary that unfortunately has not been used to his full potential in quite some time.

^I agree to 100%! Very well said there! I love Ock as well!

Good point

Yeah, I think we should ALL get as excited as we possibly can for this game, because let's be honest, when have we EVER been let down by a Spidey game?

And throw on top of that the fact its a movie tie in. Activision plus Spider-Man divided by Movie Tie can generally only equal failure. Lets hope that equation is proven false.
Free roam movie Spider-Man games from Treyarch are the best superhero games ever. SM2 introduced not only quality web swinging and vertical free roaming/free roam superhero game, it was the first superhero game to introduce how the hero moves, how fast and agile Spider-Man is, how strong, acrobatic combat, how as in ASM224 Manhattan is his gym, his playground, and like every comic "His responsibility"

As for Spider-Man 3 (did so much good ignored in favor of whining about the FEW flaws in it which are there in every game (except Capcom's) in the same effing amount), it updated the free flow combat system introduced in USM and incorporated SM2 gymnast Spidey motion, it also the first comic book game to tap into the full potential of some boss fights. The more I play it the more aggravated I get cause people demand another one like it, polished from the few flaws it has, they want another Spider-Man 3 game, they say they want qualities that are ALL available in SM3 the game, take it from the guy who finished the game 32 effing times, watched every terrible bad review of it (all reviews are terrible and don't know how good the game really is, it's faaaar better than mediocre/average/subpar or that grade of crap it's labeled with). They had a nice handle on continuity (SAME SCORPION FROM THE 1st MOVIE GAME, just given an ORIGIN) with easter eggs regarding the first movie and a nod to one of the 2 PS1 games (betyond Mysterio being mentioned from his appearance in SM2)

Developers poured lots and lots of love in those two games, don't forget time restrictions, time the game was released in, things they added, etc

Don't kill me, I don't want to start a Batman debate, but the latest Nightwing Trailer had moves that I can see Spidey do and which he should be able to do in his game.

[YT]oJoRPeuWWpg[/YT]

The way he takes down 3 guys, by punching one in the face and taking the other two down with a split kick. Sommersaulting one against the chin. Locking a guy's head between his legs and spinning him around. That's some of the acrobatic stuff I want in a Spider-Man game.
Go play Spider-Man 3, he performs those moves there, WITH NO ISSUES

Name those ton of decent games. The orig PS1 game and maybe, MAYBE USM and or SM2. Thats about it.
Spider-Man 3 is sooooo underrated, it very much is, and those Spider-Man games are much better than decent

Arkham Asylum is highly praised, what did it introduce? Nothing. What did it improve on? Nothing. Sure it has great free flow finger numbing button masher combat, fun stealth, fun collectibles, two fine boss fights (KLiller Croc, and Scarecrow), Joker challenges on the PS3, Alex Ross art inspired graphics, Paul Dini masterful storytelling, other than that it's one of the most average games overrated by the many yahoos who just drooled over TDK the movie and think "Batman is the $#%^", it's even more mediocre and uninspired than what you make Spider-Man 2 (and to a more extent the actually superior by many leagues SM3) the game to be, I'm sick of that.

BAA is mediocre, uninspired, half-arsed, and overrated. BAC may be bounds and leaps ahead of it -I haven't played it yet- but if it turns out to be another average game like its predecessor I'll take your opinions about comic book games as nothing far from effy, and will NEVER play a newer Batman game

Same goes for ASM game to be fair, if turns out to be as average as EoT or as terrible as that overhyped overrated official half-arsed CRAP SD I won't play another Spider-Man game

Well to be fair, you probably haven't actually played Batman, just watched youtube videos. And secondly, if Arkham Asylum introduced NOTHING, improved on NOTHING, what the hell did Spider-Man 3 introduce? What did it improve on? What does SM 3 do that hadn't been done before?

Come on dude, pull your finger out.

First notion: F*** YOU. Get over that $#%^ I only did with S##%^ Dimensions, ALONE

Did you read what I said?
  • It did a good mix of the Spidey combat from SM2 and integrated it with USM free flow combat, a while before BAA, plus aerial attacks, counter system, amazing jumps like he did with Ben Grimm and Ox on boulders they lifted up, specials. Something for all desires
  • Swimming Spidey was long overdue
  • Pole-swinging was improved from what was introduced in SM2, plus attacks jumping from poles
  • Web suspending was improved from USM & SM2 a lot
  • Took free roam and boss fight to a very high potential with Goblin's fight
  • Other boss fights are some of the best boss fights in any game (excluding Venom, which is still far better than his fight in WoS)
  • Jonah Jameson centered plot and his funny dialogue
  • It improved a lot on the web yoyo given in the first movie game

Added some stuff I didn't say earler, but why is all this ignored? It's a Spider-Man game that actually feels like controlling Spider-Man to greater potential than shown on the PS2, but then that was crapped on cause people gave too much drama to their way over the top reviews of this game, and after it there came the shallow WoS and the more shallow linear games that in no way are the fun level the PS1 game introduced

Arkham Asylum...mediocre?
A game that becomes the most acclaimed in the genre and takes the spot in the Guiness World Records is way above mediocre.
