And there's this:

^^ Indeed I did! Consider me VERY excited. I'm looking foward to seeing what this new series will be like

Eh. Not really interested in the Scarlet Spider if it's who I think it is.

I'm most looking forward to Carnage, USA coming up. Pure, unfiltered chaos is highly underrated outside of Batman comics.

I mostly care about the Daredevil cross-overs. I always love seeing those two get together.

anyone find it interesting that we're sorta getting a "costume influx" for the first time in the spider-man universe since the 90s? Not saying it's a good or bad thing, i mean... im all for variant costumes in video games and action figures... but i do find it intriguing

50-ish years of costumes

60s & 70s
-Amazing Fantasy
-Red and Blues
-Six Arm Spidey
80s
-Symbiote/Black Suit
-Amazing Bagman
-Cosmic Spider-Man
-Spider-Lizard
90s
-Spider-Hulk
-Man-Spider
-Cyborg Spider-Man
-Spider-Phoenix
-2099
-2211
-Spider Armor
-Scarlet Spider
-Ben Reilly Spider-Man
-Spider-Carnage
-Insulated Spider-man
-Spider-Boy
-Octo-Spidey
-Unlimited
-Earth X
-Spider-Girl
-Prodigy
-Ricochet
-Dusk
-Hornet
-Negative Zone
00s-05
-Ultimate
-JMS's "future "final" spidey"
-House of M
-Spider-Man India
-Manga Spider-Man
05-12
-Iron Spider
-1602
-Noir
-Zombie Spider-Man
-Tron Spider-Man (even though it was cover only)
-Stealth "neon" spider-man
-Bullet-Proof spider-man
-Ultimate 2 (red and black)
-Future Foundation
-Scarlet Spider (Kane)

and that's not counting the "variations" like all the Venoms, Spider-Women, Tarantulas, and other spider-people....

I think that has more to do with the stories and number of titles than anything. In the 90's, there were what? 4 Spiderman titles? And those titles are competing, trying to make their mark by writing the next "great" story, which for some reason entails some costume variation.

i just find it funny that we really got a whole bunch recently with a short amount of time between them

i mean, most of the 2000s were alternate universe spidey's until civil war..

I'm really looking forward to the DD/Spidey crossover. It's been a while since they teamed up. I'm also on-board for the next Carnage mini. The first one was way too good to pass up the second. I'll probably give the Scarlet Spider thing a shot. It's most likely going to be Kaine and I've liked what they've done with him recently.

If Waid's DD/Spider-man team up is as good as his Human Torch/Spider-man team up from his FF run, I'll be very happy.

I'm gonna skip the crossover. Definitely the ASM issues. Not sure if I'll drop DD for those months as well or just tough it out and try to figure out what's going on. We'll see.

you should pick up the DD issues for the art alone. I'm not buying Spider-man, but I'll pick up that issue because I'm liking Daredevil that much right now.

I'm reading DD regularly. But usually when I'm not reading one part of a relatively small crossover, my tendency is to drop the comic I am reading for the duration of the crossover rather than be swindled into buying another comic. Only exceptions are when the crossover sounds really, really good, which this one doesn't. I don't really give a s*** about the Black Cat.

I am really loving this Spider-Island! I think Dan has done a great job picking up various "threads" (sorry for the pun) of previous continuity. I think this is a much better job of connecting the "spider" charactersthan Grim Hunt. There's Venom & Anti-Venom, to boot! It even weaves the Spider Slayers and the Jackal and his clones into the story naturally as well as JJJ. Great job with the id of scientist #6, especially since he did show up again recently in the comics. Heck, I even love the Queen & the spiders angle, and I didn't care for the original story, since they had done the whole Man-Spider thing to Pete before this a couple of times.

And a agree with everyone about the apparent direction for Kaine. If this is true, and we now have a new Spider-Man (in the guise of the Scarlet Spider or whatever), this is another single Spider-Man. (the original reason for the Clone Saga of the 90's) So now, if Marvel has this single Spider-Man, is it possible for our Pete to be... :cwink: :woot:

(at least get back together with (possible now) the Amazing MJ?) :woot:

Dug just about everything, except...

...the apparent death of the Jackal. Hopefully, that was a clone he set-up just in case. Hate to finally have him back, only to kill him off right away.

I liked Spider-Island at first but then it turns out that some tie-ins were essential reading (like Steve Rogers being the Spider-King in Venom). Now I'm just ****ing confused.

It be nice if Scarlet Spider sold very well. Two spin-off characters that can hold their own titles with solid sales? I hope so.

That was only revealed in Venom? Freaky.

It was revealed first in Venom, then mentioned again in this month's ASM.

It was mentioned in Amazing Spider-Man, but when it was written in a way that expected me to already know the reveal, I was so god damn confused until I found out it was all part of the Venom issues.

If it's any consolation, it was a pretty good "wtf?!" moment in Venom. I was like, "They did what to Captain America? That's f***ing wrong!"

Yea, it was a great surprise reveal, it got me super riled up and personally offended at ol' Miles.

"THEY DID WHAT TO OUR STEVE?!"
[Dude...we're Canadian.]
"Shut up brain, I'm absorbing the plot!"
