The Audience Reaction Thread

I saw it a second time. The audience was generally good and laughed at the funny scenes and cringed or "oohed" at the violent moments.

But of special note:

I was disturbed by the implications of our society when about a half dozen guys laughed during the rape scene with the Comedian and Sally Jupiter. They laughed when he first punched her in the gut and started kicking her, but it kept going and got more violent and intense and they finally I think shut up, because the scene got so graphic.

And I saw a group of 3 or 4 walk out and that is it. But I think people generally enjoyed it, though. The people I went with did. Albeit, leaving the theater I overheard a couple talking and the guy liked it, but his girlfriend called it slow and boring. So you never know.

So....does the Comedian actually rape Sally, or is the scene more of him brutally beating her up ( which is still disturbing and not something to laugh at! )?

Also, how early in the movie does this scene occur and how long does it last?

Haven't seen much said about this. Did any crowds have any reaction to
Rorschach's death
?

Now that I think about it, that would be about it. But I wondered if there would maybe be a gasp or two.

I heard a couple of gasps when it happened. Also, I overheard a girl a few seats behind me mention the shape the blood made.

No one actually laughed when
Rorschach was blown up by Jon, but they did laugh when the camera zoomed out to show that his blood stains had imitated his inkblots on the snow.

forgot to mention some guys laughing after Manhattans miracle speech to Laurie and the camera zooms out to show the Galle Crater. one of the was like "are serious, wow". not really knowing it's a real crater.

That's a real crater?

There were like "ha's" of "Hmm, I get it. That's cool they did that."

I guess someone decided to bring their kids to the movie. So whenever there was a sex scene or nudity they were giggling.I guess their father told them to cover their eyes during certain scenes ,or he would send them to the bathroom.

Dude, I see you're from Rochester, what theater did you go to for the film?

At the midnight showing, when Laurie says the line "I'm used to going at at 3 in the morning and doing something stupid" some guy yelled "CRACK!!" and that got a pretty large laugh out of the audience. Come on, we were all thinking it.

Both times I saw the movie, the audience could not get over Manhattan's penis. Everytime he turned around on screen there were giggles. At one point a girl in the back of the theater yelled out "PUT ON SOME CLOTHES".

People loved the Captain Carnage story, and the laughter was so loud over Rorschach's "You're fat" line that we missed entirely the following lines (In the second showing. In the midnight the audience seemed to know that wasn't the whole response). The prison scenes got a huge rise out of the audience, especially the "One nothing" and "Two nothing" lines.

A couple of people were freaking out over Bubastis. Everytime she was on screen someone would be all "Seriously though, what the hell??"
God your theatre was full of idiots.

That's a real crater?

Yep!

As the smiley is a key motif in the Alan Moore graphic novel Watchmen, the crater was used as an important story location after the coincidence was noted by artist Dave Gibbons. According to Gibbons, the similarity "was almost too good to be true. I worried that if we put it in, people would never believe it."[1] The actual crater was visualized in the 2009 film adaptation of Watchmen.

My girlfriend who is a total watchmen novice thought that they all had superpowers, considering the way they were fighting, jumping and throwing people in the air with such power and ease.

Some stupid ***** sitting behind me started giggling. She did the same thing for a few of the final scenes. I was seriously about to choke a *****...

:oldrazz:

I feel as if I have to yell at the audience saying, "WHAT DON'T YOU ****ING UNDERSTAND?!"

I was seriously one giggle away from going all Christian Bale on her and a few others.

**** sake, man, they're amateur.

When I saw it this weekend with the gf, someone walked out with a good half hour left.
Must have been a movie lover.

When we got back, someone asked her if it was like X-Men. She said, "Kind of...but not really." I was so proud of her.

Saw this again over the weekend. The audience was silent throughout the whole flick. I looked around and it was because no one was there.

Honestly, I probably would've preferred to be in an empty theatre.

I had excellent audiences for both viewings. There was some laughter during the Archie sex scene, but I think that's pretty appropriate given the way it was presented. The biggest reaction from both audiences was for Rorschach's "you're locked up in here with me" line, getting laughter, cheers, and scattered applause.

Depending on the film, I completely agree. For Watchmen, I'd absolutely prefer to watch it alone. The more character driven a film, the more I prefer a quieter experience. However, for a film like Transformers, it's fun to be in a big crowd and be able to enjoy the experience of a film and reactions. I loved both films just to clarify.

The Dark Knight is the only film in my recent memory that I love watching alone or with a big crowd.

of course......it's not such a pleasant experience if you are all alone in the theater and you still hear laughter or applause or someone shouting....."A Blue Penis....OMGZ!!!" :gray:
