I saw it a second time. The audience was generally good and laughed at the funny scenes and cringed or "oohed" at the violent moments.
But of special note:
I was disturbed by the implications of our society when about a half dozen guys laughed during the rape scene with the Comedian and Sally Jupiter. They laughed when he first punched her in the gut and started kicking her, but it kept going and got more violent and intense and they finally I think shut up, because the scene got so graphic.
And I saw a group of 3 or 4 walk out and that is it. But I think people generally enjoyed it, though. The people I went with did. Albeit, leaving the theater I overheard a couple talking and the guy liked it, but his girlfriend called it slow and boring. So you never know.
So....does the Comedian actually rape Sally, or is the scene more of him brutally beating her up ( which is still disturbing and not something to laugh at! )?
Also, how early in the movie does this scene occur and how long does it last?
