Loeb also ruined Heroes by cluttering it up with poorly-conceived characters, killing off a lot of fan favorites and turning others who had been heroes into villains. I think that it's telling that when Loeb alone ran Marvel's TV division he couldn't even get AKA Jessica Jones to pilot after a couple of years of trying, yet Whedon waltzed in and had SHIELD approved almost instantly.

Loeb simply doesn't know what the hell he's doing when it comes to TV (and comics). Marvel ought to dump him before he decides to meddle with SHIELD and ruins its chances with his awful ideas.

Haven't been following the thread for a long time, but there's a rumor that Masters of evil will be the villains for Avengers 2

I quite like this idea, then Avengers 3 can be the film Thanos goes all out

That makes more sense to me.

Season 2 was too scattered, it wasn't comparable. season 1 was by far the better of the two.

Season 1 had a sense of continuity and cohesion because all of the stories that were told flowed together instead of being broken up into (mostly) unrelated episodes like Season 2. Loeb and Quesada took control of the second season and decided to make it more episodic because they thought kids couldn't follow more complicated stories. A couple of real geniuses, those two.

Now that they have killed EMH in favor of their own show, with Man of (in)Action writing, we can expect disconnected stories to be the rule.

I really wish they'd use Phase III for the Masters of Evil. Introduce Baron Zemo in Cap 3 and Enchantress and Executioner in Thor 3. In the post-credit scenes, show them meeting together.

I would love to see what Whedon does with them though. His bad guys teams are just as fleshed out and humorous at times as his hero teams.

What about Ultron AND the Masters of Evil in Avengers 2?

I mean, in Avengers 1 they were paying homage to the comics: Loki was the Avenger's first enemy and the one who's responsible for the team's existence - in the comics as well as in the movie.

So... and who were the second Masters of Evil in the comics? A group of villains led by Ultron shortly after Ultron was created. It could happen in the movie.

With Ant-Man scheduled for release AFTER Avengers 2, it's not likely we'll see Ultron portrayed.

Maybe not. But then again, Avengers 2 *could* include Henry Pym - not as a superhero, but as a scientist.

Or the Ant-Man movie could be a prequel to Avengers 2?

Yeah, I'm leaning more and more towards the notion that Ant-Man (which releases *after* Avengers in real-world chronology) may predate Avengers in film-world chronology. I think Marvel had assumed (or hoped) Edgar Wright would be finished with AM long before TA2, but that doesn't look to be the case now. So they'll wind up retrofitting it.

CA:TFA was actually the first Phase I movie chronologicaly but the second to last to be released, TIH, the second released Phase I movie is chronologicaly the 4th.
I don't see why Phase II should handle this differently. Ant-Man is probably the most obvious candidate.

I do hope that some members of the SHIELD TV series cast show up in Avengers 2, even if just in the background or as potential casualties. Seeing them onscreen is like when you got cameos from other Star Trek cast members in the TNG films like the EMH in First Contact, or even seeing Lt Barclay as well. That way these "extras" in the background aren't just random SHIELD agents but people we'll actually know and recognise.

I like that thought a lot. I wonder how it would affect the series afterwards (and leading up to it). It's supposed to be in-continuity yet quite separate.

I imagine it would be much like how it was dealt with in First Contact and Deep Space Nine where they talked about the Dominion War going on at the time. They referenced it in First Contact. Deep Space Nine adopted the First Contact uniforms. However, neither made a big deal about either of those things. They were both in continuity but separate enough as well to be their own autonomous thing.

The worst case scenario would be similar to comic series with good, well planned, story arcs that are constantly interruped with tie-ins to big events

I like that idea and I'd be genuinely surprised if that isn't exactly what Marvel has planned.

Well the premise of the show is that it exists in the MCU but is wholly separate from the movies. To show cameos of the TV cast might be overstepping that premise.

I bet we get some overlap. Yes, the show is going to be about what happens on the fringes of this universe but I think that refers more to story and not so much characters. The stories will be smaller in scope, but the characters, while not as powerful as the ones that have been established, I think will be free to flow back and forth between TV and film.
