Edited my post before that, you should go back and read it.

Oh what the hell, I'll say it here. Colossus would've had a larger role in X3, if Singer was directing. When Ratner took the helm, he was sidelined. Not Singer's fault.

but superman returns and jack the giant slayer was

yes after he was kidnapped, shafted, and received little development as a character.

Uhh, no. The character moments I was talking about happened before the kidnapping.

You can moan and groan all you want about him being "shafted" or getting little development as a character, but the character moments between him and Jean were there regardless. :whatever:

The fact that you're bringing up movies that aren't related to the X-Men movies shows that you have nothing new to bring to the discussion. :funny:

Try something else.

Im moaning because a Long time and in comic circles iconic x-men character received little attention? Or storm lost her "African accent" X-2? Or bobby drake is a watered down version of his comic book self?

I like Bryan singer, always have, I just don't think hes a good action movie director. Hes a great story teller though

None of that has any relevance to my initial point.

Stop yourself.

Cyclops is a perfect example. He lives to serve the characters of Jean and Logan. He isn't actually a character unto himself. He doesn't even function as the team leader. Bobby and Pryo are stand-ins for archtypes.

Singer's X-Men had interaction and character moment, but there was nothing that got past the surface. The one true exception is Wolverine, who has a fully realized character arc over the two Singer films.

The Avengers explored the 6 Avengers, Fury and Loki. Now Clint got a bit of the shaft, but everyone else actually had a strong arc.

I still prefer the character development of the 1st two X-Men movies. Everybody didn't have the same amount of screentime but at least there was depth when it comes to their characters. The Avengers had no depth at all, it was just very generic and very light.

I disagree. The Avengers had a good amount of depth to each character because they were all established characters and all of the characters, except for Hawkeye, did go through a personal journey through the movie.

I honestly don't see how you can say the Avengers had no depth when a bunch of X-Men characters were essentially put aside for Wolverine and Xavier/Magneto's rivalry.

I prefered the first x-men films to Avengers, but Avengers had more depth for each character, for me the problem was the lack of plot

Lack of plot? The plot was pretty simple and clear. They must team up to save the world.

I'm a huge X-men fan, but I think these are the exact kind of arguments that point out why they are difficult to adapt to the screen. There are just so many characters that if you include them all, you end up shorting them in characterization, if you leave some out, people get upset because everyone's got their favorite. That said, X1&2 and First Class are good films, the others... not so much.

X-Men definitely lend themselves far better to cartoons than films. Which is interesting since there is still no new X-Men cartoon. >.>

Maybe I don't want one with the way Loeb-run Marvel Animation is making their cartoons though...

Avengers 2 will do well even without magneto's kids.. they are so many other characters who can be added.. maybe more screen time for the rumored black panther and wakanda..

lets hope DOFP will not be another wolverine saving the day.. both in the past and future at the same time due to his longevity...while other mutants (named and nameless) are supporting characters..

That goes for just about any team...Avengers, JLA, etc. There is no way to include everyone that has been a member.

From the new Entertainment Weekly: "As for the possibility of an appearance in The Avengers 2 [for Jackman], [Wolverine Producer Hutch] Parker demurs: 'I don't even know how to handicap that. But it would certainly be exciting to see.'"

Well if you ask ME, Pietro and Wanda were very RARELY in X-Books and more in Avengers, so Singer has no claim to them just because they're mutants.
Quicksilver and Scarlet witch were part of the Wondagore arc and that wasn't in the X-books

No but it would be AWESOME to try! lol Like George Perez lol

Was the white haired speedster in X-Men Origins supposed to be Quicksilver?

I'm guessing it was. Still tho, Like we've been mentioning Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch were Avengers long before appearing in any X-Book so technically Singer and Fox used the characters without permision
