Agreed. While I'm still not part of the Billion-Dollar Optimists Club, I think Empire is low-balling the hell out of that. Who knows, maybe deliberately, just to make the *real* numbers look more impressive.

That just might be the case, because I find it hard to believe that they really think The Avengers is going to gross that low.

Pre screenings have been nothing but 100% positive so figure it's tracking to be hard to gauge this early


They generaly go by pre ticket sales advance sales... so none of that info is out just yet



Honestly I think this one may pop over 200 mill opening weekend, may get to 300 mill in a week

It may pop 200 million week 1 but how will the word of mouth be? I think if this movie is somehow underwhelming which I dont think it will but if it is then it may drop pretty quickly week 2. I want this movie to be successful as well as spiderman and the dark knight because it continues to make studios produce even better comic heroes and thus us fans reaping the rewards. whatever this movie makes I wont be surprised ethier or honestly if that makes sense.

yeah Im thinking that too but with inflation of 3D ticket shows and what not IT has a shot easily and its right in the sweet spot of releases for kicking off the summer movies. But if it underperforms I wont be shocked because half of the cast listed in there solo movies there opening weekend numbers didnt blow me away so why would a team up movie.

I think there's a whole different level of curiosity with the general public which will lead to much larger opening numbers than most of the individual films.

Guys, the ALL-TIME record OW is only $169 million, for Deathly Hallows Pt. 2 set last year. No way in hell is it going to catch up to Harry Potter numbers, let alone leave that record in the dust.
