Shadowlord your ignorance of those DC characters is astounding. It's quite clear you've never actually read many of those comics.

The Flash for example had one of the best runs of the 90s going into the 00s with Waid and Johns. Well that was Wally, not Barry. Wally's story of being a kid side kick who grows into the role of the main hero was brilliant and one of the best in comics.

It's a shame Johns came and burned all that with his ******** Barry Allen love. Be certain that the film will be about Barry instead of Wally too, which is a mistake because not only is Wally a better, more charismatic character that audiences will easily identify with, but Wally has also had the most development over the years.

I'm talking about Barry Allen, which is the Flash that they would do. I didn't even mention the abysmal rogue's gallery. Please feel free to enlighten me about what in his mythos would make a good movie. What about the character's mythos translates to great mass market appeal?

Abysmal Rogue's gallery? Are you kidding me?!!? Flash has one of the best rogues galleries in comics. Probably only behind Spideys, Batmans and Supermans. Don't be put off because they have names like Captain Cold. Seriously, Flash's rogues gallery is amazing.

The appeal of Barry Allen? Ehhh i don't know, because i find him boring and unappealing. But Wally West? He's awesome and could be very appealing.

Other than built-in crime drama (he's a CSI specialist, and those are all sexy these days), mind-blowing sfx, the inevitable romance, a 60-year rich history as one of the most iconic superheroes in comic books, an infamous Rogues' Gallery, and the fact that most people like to see things go real fast....?

....Other than all that, not much mass market appeal at all.

Wally West forever

Maybe so, but how do you introduce Wally without Iris, and hence Barry? And Kid Flash?

I'd say that more fans are familiar with Wally these days than Barry -- especially fans from the age groups that a hypothetical Flash movie would target -- but you'd have to do a lot of retconning to leave Barry out. Or maybe make him a legendary mentor.

Still, I'm inclined to agree that they'd be better off going with Wally instead of Barry, for the same reasons that GL might have had more success with John Stewart in the lead instead of Hal Jordan.

... Um, Avengers?

I think we'll be getting a good feel for the movie with the next trailer, story-wise. Personally, I can't wait to see it. I'm a spoiler-phile.

Dude, I'm not going to turn this into a pointless argument.

If you think that a rogue's callery that includes Professor Zoom, Captain Cold, Captain Boomerang, etc., is one of the best then all power to you.

You actually agree with my point that Barry Allen is boring and unnappealing but that's the flash they have to do.

I believed that they couldn't make a movie about GL with successful mass market appeal and i was proven correct. When WB makes a movie that proves me wrong then I will be happy to admit I was wrong.

It's not just me who thinks that, it's anyone who has a broad knowledge of comics in general.

Any concept can work, it's all about execution.

Yeah, The Flash and his rogue gallery are awesome. My favourite DC character by far.

There's nothing wrong with having a dead-end franchise. Why do these films have to keep going and going?

I admire Marvel's attempt but at some point, they're going to over saturate the market. And that's not including the Marvel films at Sony and Fox....

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has to have an end point...but I don't think Marvel is even thinking about an end point to this entire Avengers story that they're attempting, cinematically.

It would just be nice to have ends in this genre. At the same time, if Marvel Studios has endings, there would be no point in existing, would it?
I happy Batman comes to an end. It is nice to have a classic trilogy. Look at Star Wars 4-6. Look at the LotR. An End is important part of film series. Look at Spider-Man 3, there no end to it. Sony was planning on making Spider-Man 4.
I know in the comic books the hero is always going to the hero. But with film the story needs to end. Since with comic book there are several issues each year that come out.

i Don't see why it has to end provided they continue putting out quality product. People will alway go to see well made blockbusters. Should Spy movies have an end? Do we have to put an end to psychological thrillers? How about Biopics? These are genres that have stood the test of time and there really isnt any talk of over-saturation. Why can't the superhero genre be the same? why should it have an end? like i said, if the product continues to be good, and thats a big if..there's no reason it shouldnt continue

Of course you would disagree. What you are talking about is recognizability wrt those DC characters whilst I'm talking about mass market appeal. Flash is a good example; he's known but he looks goofy, his origin is cheesy, his mythos has no substance to support a script or viable character arc in a major motion picture. He's just a guy who got hit by lightning and chemicals and now can move fast; that's all. WW looks cheesy, sounds cheesy, and mythos is lite on any real substance. WB knows this. That's why WB isn't rushing forward with any of those projects, especially after the colossal failure that was GL, which suffered from the same flaws. Green Lantern sounds cheesy, it's mythos is cheesy, looks cheesy, and the mythos has little substance; it's just a guy who is fearless and get a powerful magic space ring. Thus when time came to make a movie, they couldn't come up with a strong script and a viable character arc. Let's not even get into Aquaman who would be laughed off the screen.

I'm sorry, but I spaced out from the massive case of irony that shot through my bloodstream from this paragraph. Only a Marvel Fanboy would make some of these statements (and it's not surprising from your statements in the past). If you actually bothered to read the material, you would slap yourself for the ignorance you displayed here.

By the by, Aquaman is only considered a joke because of what transpired on the Superfriends show. Aquaman is actually a badass, but a fanboy wouldn't be aware of that.

All the characters from MARVEL that I mentioned are far less known than those guys but their mythos is strong and have strong themes that can support a film.

ANY hero can possess strong representation with a great scripwriter and director. It all lies in execution... unless your from DC apparently. :o

If you doubt me then just keep watching movies over the next 10 years; MARVEL STUDIOS is juggernaut that will just keep going, unlike nolan and tdkr which will be a monster at the BO, no doubt, but it's a dead-end franchise that's leads to nothing further.

...unless the Superhero fad dies out and Marvel Studios goes out of business.

Dead-End? Are you this biased?

And what's wrong with an ending or a conclusion to a story?

It's not like Batman is going away. Nolan is simply ending his vision /story. What is wrong with that?

Up is one of the worst films ever made, Pixar films in general are among the most over rated films.
Umm..wow..i never thought i would hear someone say this. Personally, ALL of the pixar films are in my top 100 movies. But, to each his own i guess.

Oh, come on. Whoever said that Pixar's films are overrated, man, you're entitled to your opinion but...

I can't even finish.

There is one thing that unites Marvel & DC fans,
A Mutual Love of Pixar!

Doomsday...I'm done.

No more arguing.

When reality comes along and proves me wrong, I'll gladly admit I was wrong. Until then it's a dropped topic.

On a technical level, the best shots in The Dark Knight can't hold a candle to the best shots in WALL-E or Up. Nolan is great for what he does, but the guys at Pixar have an absolute mastery of film as an art form.

You were proven wrong the moment you posted those statements. Any devoted and/or educated comic fan (some of which criticized your assertions earlier) would tell you that proclamations were completely off-base.

Yes, drop it. Don't make any more subjective 'predications'. It's insulting to comic fans.
