The Avengers The Avengers Critics Reviews Thread - Part 2

Guess where one of the three bad reviews on RT for Toy Story 3 came from? Yup, the troll/critic that just gave Avengers a poor score. This guy gave terrible scores to Cabin in the Woods,, Hunger Games, 21 Jump Street, Shame, The Descendants, and Rise of the Apes an 'F'.

I think it's sad that these three troll reviews account for 4%. Just goes to show you why movies with near unanimous praise like TDK were only 94%.

The suits at Marvel/Disney are going to make a Hulk movie happen. No doubt now. As long as it doesnt delay the Avengers sequel, I say go for it.

The Hulk tv show Im more skeptical about as I dont seen how they can get the Hulk right on a television budget. I know it's just one character, but people arent gonna be willing to go back to Bana Hulk for the sake of a tv show.

Yeah I don't think they will. They are going to do the animated show and probably the live action TV at least to pilot and then we shall see.

I think fans are getting their hopes up way too high. Fans truly believed there would be more right after Incredible Hulk. Instead Marvel pretty much ended Hulk solo movies then and there.

Richard Roeper's review up on RT. A rave. 100 percent among top critics still going strong.

Awesome review from Richard Roeper! He gave Thor an A but Captain America only a C+, so good to see he's back on board.

It seems the people who liked Captain America hated Thor and vice versa. I personally thought they were at about equal quality.

Liked both and felt that in both Movies the ending was rushed.

I didn't think Thor's ending was rushed. The movie was just a bit too short. Captain America, maybe a bit, but that movie was always going to feel rushed. Too much has to happen in too short of a timeframe in that movie to ever feel perfect.

Phillips can be snobby and hard to please. Awesome that he liked it. Beaks review was about what I expected... I think most of his criticisms are fairly reasonable, just overstated.

Once he starts talking about how dim it was and how he had a bad seat it just feels like he had a bad experience with the 3D and isn't necessarily looking at the movie from an entirely neutral place

Nordling and Quint at AICN also liked it. Both raved about Ruffalo's performance, as well as the fact the movie starts off a little slow and uneven. Quint also singled out Cobie's performance as being less than impressive.

I agree, sounds like he had a crappy seat for 3D, and RealD is never as impressive as IMAX 3D. But is other criticisms of the first hour have elements of truth, even if he may have been excessively negative if he was already annoyed by the lighting/3D.

Well, not everyone can be enthusiastically positive about the film. How else are the "well, I'm biased so the positive majority are just BS buying-into-hype reviews and the very small percentage of negative/lukewarm reviews are the indicator of it's true quality" people going to have something to say.

I thought the fight with Destroyer was a bit anti-climatic, but the fight and end scene with Loki makes up for that.

It's sorta the same with TFA. I thought the battle against Skull could have been better, but the farewell to Peggy and the scene where he wakes up (which I know some people weren't happy with), I thought also made up for that.

I agree with that. The Destroyer was a pretty quick fight but at the same time it showed how powerful Thor is. The Loki fight was the true 'boss battle' and it was done really well in my opinion.

Completely agree about TFA too. I wish it could have been two movies before Avengers but I enjoyed what we got. It's a great movie aside from a few nitpicks.
