what's more disturbing is that either a movie is 100% (fresh) or 0% (rotten)...no wonder alot of movies on RT get trashed; they are leaving people with only two options for voting. Their scale should be 1-10 or 1-5 at worst, then you would get a much closer idea statistically as to what the movie scored.

RT also uses 1-10 scale.

Avengers has an 8/10. You can find it directly below the percentage rating in smaller print.

I hope people don't think if this does drop below 95% - like to 90% - that means Avengers and Joss & Co. don't have something to brag about. Even if it ends up in the high 80's, so what?

The audience response is through the roof, indicating the legs on this will probably be a beast. The estimated projections are approaching $420million domestic, and the Top Critics are at 100% at least as of right now.

This is shaping up to be a phenomenal superhero summer, with The Avengers kicking things off in high gear. I just don't see how any of us could be disappointed. Just saying :)

People need to face it. This will not stay at the 95-97% range. I'm hoping it stays around 90-92%.

Who cares? At this point it's not going to be 35% like Transformers 3. The Bay/TF fanatics were claiming that one was going to get 75% or more. It's at 94% with 82 reviews now. Chances are it's not going to drop all that drastically.

I always expected this to end up between 86-90%..t

Who cares? even TDK isn't in that range. Clearly most of the positive reviews have put this film in best in class in the genre, and best marvel studios film. IM1 is at 94%, so I think it could make that range.

There's a 5th rotten review they just put up but no link to the review.

I care. :woot: First, it's a source of entertainment. Second it's a source of pride. Kind of like following your favorite sports team in the standings or rankings.

5th rotten review is Stephanie Zacharek. A good writer but a real oddball critic. She hated Dark Knight and Wall E and gave one of the most non sensical bad reviews I've ever read (for The Tree of Life). Still haven't seen a bad review from a critic I really respect.

Whedon is a cult author: loved by many critics and authors but with a very, very minoritarian public following. The fact that its doing this well is great.

Well if you consider TDK had 18 rotten reviews, and IM1 had 15, both are 94%, so considering there will be at least 250 reviews for this movie (probably more), I think it's got a good chance to be above 90% unless there's a flood of negative reviews.

There tends to be a group think among critics, so I think most are going to like this, especially those who can tell the difference between crap action films like TF, and something that's an action film but smart.

Yeah, I say it finishes somewhere very close to the two recent blockbusters it is most similar to: Star Trek (95 percent fresh, 8.1/10 rating), and Iron Man (94 percent fresh, 7.6 out of ten). Which is a pretty great place to be.

OK she is disqualified for giving TF: DOTM a 7/10, and she rated Conan the Barbarian 6.5/10 and Captain America:TFA only 6/10. She has some other decent reviews of film, but sorry that is my measuring stick.

But they apparently arent using that scale for their critics reviews because a rotten pulls down the percentage like a 0%, not a 30%(3/10) etc...

It's not even on the Rolling Stone website yet
Probably won't see any reviews until thursday. I know there are a few places in the States prescreening tomorrow, because of All day events Thursday like AMC's Marathon

:wow: Really................................. There are Bay fanatics!!!!!!!!!!!

:oldrazz:

Dude Bay's fans worship the guy.

Look one of the so called Rotten reviews gave the movie a 3/5 rating and claimed Nick Fury was NICK FROST so I mean it's not so terrible.

There are cult followings for every director, Bay, Nolan, even Whedon. The Bay ones are the most annoying, because I really have not seen the guy produce anything other than throw away entertainment.

I will never forgive the guy for the atrocity of Pearl Harbor. To take a serious event like that, and turn it into a very badly done Titanic love story is unforgivable. Thank goodness for Tora! Tora! Tora!

Um, Jeff Wells... what in the actual ****?!?!

Robert Downey, Jr.'s Tony Stark/Iron Man has the best quips...surprise! But he's still a Republican, and I just couldn't shake that as I watched. "Tony Stark is a Republican who probably supports Romney," etc. Over and over and over in my head.

I. Cannot. Even. In a friggin' film review. Is this guy on RT?
