Olsen has a point, LOL!

I wonder why they did that.

I disagree with the sentiment that Captain America can't continue on as a franchise without Steve/Chris Evans.

I think they've perfectly set up a scenario in which Steve dies in A4 and Bucky takes on the mantle (and shield) to honor his friend and make up for his past. Add in Falcon as his partner and maybe even Natasha as a love interest and the movie pretty much writes itself.

You could even throw in the return of the Red Skull for some symmetry.

The Capt. America franchise is worth way to much to let it end with Evans walking.

I just don't see Bucky carrying the series. He's a supporting character firmly within the MCU. Yeah, I think he can support a solo on his own (as Winter Soldier or White Wolf), but that's different than being Captain America. I see more Cap shield in stores on shirts and such than any other Avengers merch (outside Spidey). Cap is a big player in the MCU. Handling a solo and guiding one of your like, 3 (maybe 4 now post-BP) franchises is not something I see any evidence Bucky can do.

As we have seen with the movie, just because the comics did it (which took like, 60 years to happen with thosands of stories...not 10 with 3 solo outings), doesn't mean it will work the same in the movies.

Would anyone be okay with a Steve Rogers recast?

I wouldn't be. We've seen many different versions of Bond, Batman and Spidey over the years, but in almost every situation the entire character's universe is rebooted along with the casting change. The MCU is an ongoing narrative, and replacing Evans with another actor would be a much more significant continuity break than merely swapping out Rhodeys or Fandrals after a single appearance.

If Evans decides to hang up the boots I would prefer Feige and company either move on from the character or have Bucky, Sam or someone we haven't yet met - Coogler originally wanted to include Elijah Bradley in Black Panther - pick up the shield.

I imagine that in this moment Cap is on one side of the room while Iron Man is on the opposite side. Banner is in the middle and he's trying to understand what really happen in Civil War and why they aren't focusing on the bigger picture.

No recast unless you're rebooting the universe which I wouldn't want. Sebastian Stan's Bucky would be a cardboard cut out of a Cap. Not feeling it. Mackie's Sam is a different Story.

John Walker!!! :oldrazz:

On a serious note, I would love to make a US Agent movie or series, LOL!

I think Cap is too great of a character to just give up on. I feel like there's so much more he could do. Really hope Evans returns at some point, although I understand his desire to go out on top.

I can see that. :)

LOL! So in the end, Banner has to become a therapist afterall :oldrazz:

But it wouldn't just be Bucky carrying the movie. You could put him, Falcon and BW (which worked great in CA:WS) as essentially a buddy-movie format. Bucky and Falcon clearly have chemistry, as does BW and Falcon.

If Ant-Man can be successful a legacy movie with Bucky living up to the legend that Cap (and Chris Evans) created could be moving and entertaining.

Widow is getting her own movie. She'll be busy with that. I like both Sam and Bucky, I just don't think they can carry the Captain America brand. They have life beyond Captain America, whether it be some other solo or as Avengers in the next group, but I just am not seeing either of them as Captain America. That's just me.

But seriously, Marvel should call me about US Agent. I have ideas, LOL!

It doesn't feel to me like they will go the route of recasting central characters.

For one thing, it doesn't seem to be a practical necessity. The studio has a track record of building up lesser known characters, and they may now have access to additional franchises, some of which are more prominent than the Avengers originally were.

They have the option of using original cast members in a different, less central role. That has proven effective in the past.

Audiences are caught up in the on-going story, so why try to "reboot" now?

A different character taking up the mantle of Cap or Iron Man feels more likely at some point, since that could happen in the flow of the overall story. But is it really needed?

Marvel Studios isn't reliant on a particular character, so I think we will see them develop new characters for the foreseeable future.

I don't think they will recast. At least not now. In the case of Banner, they had no choice. But, here...Feige keeps talking about having the chance to give a conclusion to their over 20 film narrative by the time A4 comes out, and I think that means no recast. Even the writers said we will see deaths and retirements.

Like I said, I see mainly retirements and 1 death for the major Avengers. Leaving the option open for them to return if they ever change their minds.

In a perfect world I'd love to see an older Evans play Shield Director Steve Rogers down the road.

That's another option that they have, theoretically.

After a successful phase with new Avengers, and maybe something added from more recently acquired properties, people would be stoked for Cap or Tony to make an appearance down the line.

I bet it's Natasha on the other side.

Also in regards to Steve being recast - no thank you.

No way Feige recasts Steve. It'd be like trying to recast Tony Stark. Just can't see it at all.

I would say, recasting could have been done post Age of Ultron. Right around when the MCU was still young and we had some signs RDJ might be done. But, with how the MCU has played out since, I don't think recasting is as easy anymore.
