Those are amazing! Thanks!

Hawkeye looks like a BAMF despite his terrible form.

Why do we see Hulk's ass and not the Black Widow's?

And why is Iron Man wearing that damned helmet? I thought RDJ's contract called for a bigger-than-life-sized photo of his face in every publicity shot.

What was everyone expecting, Marvel to take a shot of Scarlet's ass and plaster it on posters with "Avengers" written on it???

It only makes sense to make Iron Man the forefront of the Avengers marketing. He's the most successful and most recognizable franchise they have.

I bet few would argue this :hehe:

Wait, that was Tonys cousin Morgan who had the gambling problem.
But, Didnt he have a brother in the Ultimate universe?
I get all these characters mixed up sometimes .

Gregory Stark in the Ultimate U is his brother, yea

The Avengers when everything's gone to ****, it still don't quit.

So I saw the new trailer for the first time in theaters tonight with 21 Jump Street.

Let me tell you, I was literally shaking and struggling to breathe, awesome awesome experience. I haven't felt so shaky for a trailer since 2007 with TDK.

Feel like I'm a kid again, God these are exciting times.

Did anyone else get the feeling from Whedon's SXSW interviews that he has killed off one or more of the Avengers? He does have a bad habit of killing characters, especially fan favorites. Months ago fans were volunteering Agent Coulson for the blood sacrifice Whedon demands, but his survival has been confirmed multiple times (he can't very well be in Iron Man 3 and Ultimate Spider-Man if he's dead). Clint and Natasha might be on the firing line, though, or someone like Hill, who's semi-major but unknown to the GA.

Personally I hope he didn't kill anyone major because that strikes me as wasteful and short-sighted. A lot of story potential goes right out the window before it can be realized. But that's just me.

Change of subject, but is it true Black Widow and Hawkeye are going to be a romance? Well...it didn't work out in the comics...

...giving up here...

I went back and found your question. Earlier I missed it. Sorry!

From interviews with Whedon, Johansson and Renner, it seems that Clint & Natasha aren't in a relationship at the time of the movie but they had been together in the past. I recall ScarJo saying that Natasha doesn't have a romance with anyone in the movie. Seems like there is still some friendship/camaraderie between them, though.

Mark Ruffalo said there is some sexual tension between Banner and Natasha, but we can see from the trailers that started off when she had to bring him in without triggering an "episode".

I think it's refreshing that Natasha isn't going to be in the all-too-typical role of girlfriend to another hero in the film. There is too much happening in too short a time to do a relationship justice in a team movie, anyway. Maybe when the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. get their own movie the writers will delve into that more.

Hope he doesn't kill off any of the main characters in this movie; that would be a buzzkill. The audience needs to leave the theatre on a high for the start of a franchise like this.

I agree, but Whedon seems convinced that the seriousness of the situation is best sold by the death(s) of characters. He said something on the order of, "there have to be consequences." Yes, but. Death isn't the only example of a traumatic consequence of war. It's just the cheap-and-dirty way of putting the damages across to the audience.

Maybe it's not so much the death of essential/major characters (mainly our heroes) that he was referring to when it came to the seriousness and consequences, but more with our heroes having to realize by first hand experience that if they aren't able team up and work together efficiently, let alone end up being victorious, that they'll lose Earth.

Maybe the invasion ends up taking more than one afternoon in the story and that they witness a lot of casualties taking place.

If the Central Park "goodbye" shot that we all assume to be the end of the film is any indication, then there's not too many characters who would seem to be facing the chopping block. Cap, Thor, Loki, Banner, Widow, Hawkeye, and Coulson (pretty sure) were all present for shooting. Fury and Maria Hill seemed to be the only ones not there, and one could assume that they're occupied elsewhere. But who knows....maybe Fury is the "blood sacrifice" for Whedon....?!?!:wow:

I'm pretty sure that is exactly NOT Whedon's justification for character deaths. His justification is it's more or less realistic, he doesn't just kill them off to sell something serious. He merely see's it as a perfectly natural narrative device since death is a perfectly natural part of life, especially for any characters involved in a conflict. And I certainly wouldn't say he uses deaths 'cheaply'.

Those are awesome! Thanks for posting. Also, I love how the "wings" on Captain America's helmet are recessed. I wouldn't have known if we didn't have these Ultra HQ shots.

This made me laugh.

Coulson wasn't in the Central Park photos that I saw, but we know that he does live. Maybe he, Fury and Hill were off dealing with what remained of the Helicarrier, though.

According to Poniboy, they filmed three alternate endings so the photos from Central Park aren't necessarily part of the end that we'll eventually see. Everything looked pretty neat and tidy there, not at all like there had been a massive pitched battle nearby only hours (days?) before.

Maybe Whedon depicted mass civilian casualties instead of a hero's death. That would certainly be a realistic consequence of the battle. Also, it would provide a good deal of trauma for the main characters. How would Steve Rogers or Tony Stark react to having to watch helplessly as innocent people die? Would they feel guilty? Would that catalyze them on the battlefield, but later cause them to question the entire enterprise? Would Stark react by going back to manufacturing weapons to protect humanity, now that he's encountered a greater threat than earthbound terrorists? Those are the kinds of effects I would like to see explored.

Anyone in the UK, good news.
M&M’s have just launched a competition on Facebook to win 2 tickets to the London premire of The Avengers, to be held on the evening of Tuesday April 17th at Vue Westfield (not clear whether the one in Shepherd’s Bush or Stratford City)
