Lex Luthor was a joke, even in 1978 (a powerful man with the resources of a major megacorporation at his disposal was reduced to a low-rent thief with a gang of idiots as his minions....he didn't even remotely resemble comic-book Lex)

When the Chris Reeve SUPERMAN movies were made....Lex WAS NOT a billionaire corporate magnate in the comics. That was retconned later.

Marketing: Just in case anyone forgets the movie is out soon, we're going to put a huge Avengers poster on the side of this really tall building.

I can't seem to settle this debate, but couldn't Spider-Woman be in the Avengers?

She is not owned by Sony right? I mean Spider-Woman (Jessica Drew) has NO RELATION to Spider-Man or his books. If you read the comics, she's her own thing. She's not the female equivalent of Spider-Man like She-Hulk is to the Hulk. Only thing both have in common are the words "Spider" in their name. In fact, Marvel Girl (Rachel Summers) has as much as common as Captain Marvel, than Spider-Woman has with Spider-Man.

She could be in the Avengers right? Jessica Drew is a former S.H.I.E.L.D. agent too so that works.

Joss Whedon on The Avengers:

"I had to find a way to service all the characters, to figure out why they're in the room in the first place. My biggest concern was that if I didn't pay enough attention to minutiae then the film would become generic in its concepts and visuals. Or that I'd be so concentrated on those things, I'd look around and the film wouldn't be about anything."

On the action scenes and what Whedon terms "the hierarchy of power":

"If this guy hits someone, he falls down. If this guy hits someone, he flies backwards. Its very complicated."

It wasnt until sometime in the late 80s- early 90s that he became corporate Lex

On Loki's staff I like the overall shape and that curve I think is really awesome, almost maybe organic-ish in feel

Probably intends for it to be his royal scepter once he's king of midgard.

Thank marvel freshman for the pics. Been waiting for a better pic of menacing looking Loki. :)

And I haven't met anyone over the age of 45 who even mentions those movies in the same sentence as S:TM, much less has seen them all. Seems like you're only focusing on the young male demographic of movie goers.

Exactly. You were talking about a specific demographic.

The staff is shorter in that photo of him kneeling than it is in other pictures.

People also seem to forget that the first thing we saw Lex do in was kill A Federal Agent who was following Otis with the push of a button .
Sounds like Lex Luthor from the comics to me .

I would love to see Spider-woman in an Avengers sequel or just in the MCU at some point. If she's not copyrighted by Sony then they shouldn't have any real ground to object. I would really love to see how they tackled her character and look in a live action film.

About Superman: TM I think that the whole travel in time ruined the movie for me. I mean if by spining the earth backwards made time go backwards its ok... but stupid. I it is to show that he just went back in time it becomes a paradox as why he doesn't see himself in the first place.
Overall: Great movie for its time. Not that good now

imho Superman 2 is way better

Also, are we talking about CBM or superhero movies? because for me the greatest CBM of all is Sin City. That film was a frame by frame translation and it was awesome.

please lets not remember Superman 3-Returns

Best Superhero movie for me its difficult. I loved both Batman Begins and TDK, Iron Man is great. Spidey 2 is overrated for me. TIH is underrated and I am a big fan of CA:TFA. That movie had so much heart.

But the movie hasn't aged well, despite Chris Reeve's legacy as THE film Superman that set the gold standard for the role. Lex Luthor was a joke, even in 1978 (a powerful man with the resources of a major megacorporation at his disposal was reduced to a low-rent thief with a gang of idiots as his minions....he didn't even remotely resemble comic-book Lex); the fx are painfully outdated; the "reverse-polarity gravitational time shift" is the most laughable deus ex of all time.

To be fair, Lex Luthor was a very different character back in the 70s. The script could used improvements though. Lex came off as *****ey banker, in my opinion.

Superman needs a facelift. Singer sure as hell didn't do it for SR; it remains to be seen whether or not Zack can do it in 2013.

I hope so, but from what has been said by our ninjas this film is something to be optimistic about. The story explores the Clark Kent character a bit further than other installments have, Superman will be physical and the visuals/SFX look amazing.

Here's hoping they're right on the money.

I agree. Captain America is my favorite cbm

Is one of my favorites because its like Star Wars. The good guy is weak but with a good heart and the bad guy is powerful but with no heart. I love that kind of stories where the good guy has all the odds against him and he overcomes them.

Kinda has an Indiana jones feeling too. Which makes it awesome

Found Loki pics in High-res, and spotted Thor in the background (reflection maybe)

Awesome pictures! adding to my already vast selection of rotating backgrounds. :hehe:

Fixed. :woot:

The first hour or so of TFA is right up there amongst the best for me. The origin part and characterisation of the hero is really, really well done. Chris Evans gives a fantastic performance, the best of all the Marvel leads. He really knows how to convey emotions and what he is thinking without dialogue, just with his eyes and body language. And the bittersweet ending is brilliant.

But the last act kinda falls apart and seems rushed. Also, the blatant green screen backgrounds are really distracting, especially at the Stark Expo.

heh Imagine not knowing it went up and you had an apartment that faced it. lol

If Snyder's the director, that's a given. :woot:
