The 3D in The Avengers was fine and all, I just didn't feel it was all together necessary. It didn't add to my enjoyment of the film in any way. The 3D didn't suck, it was actually pretty good, but I'm not a fan of 3D so my next viewing of The Avengers will be 2D

I had a hard time focusing with it in certain spots, like when [BLACKOUT]Loki was meeting with the Chitauri general.[/BLACKOUT] ..... it was the same problem I had when I was watching the opening Frost Giant battle in Thor. Just something about the darkness and 3D do not mix.

yeah the beginning was a bummer to look out because it was so dark and hard to focus. What time did you get to the screening Rock?

EDIT: Wait a damn minute! I though Pirates 4 was a good movie, and I actually enjoyed the 3D! It wasn't Avatar-quality 3D, but it was OK. Also, I double-checked. The 3D camera being used for The Amazing Spider-Man and both the Hobbit films is NOT the same camera used for Pirates: On Stranger Tides!
Then we see it differently. The movie in itself was decent but I can't remember any case where the 3D made it better (and if I'm paying extra, I want notble improvements from 2D) and the examples of bad artifacts were quite significant. From what I've heard about Titanic 3D it doesn't have the cardboard cutout characters so obviously Pirates 4 was just poorly done.

I don't have much faith in the 3D gimmick but I'm sure I'll enjoy the Avengers regardless of how I feel the 3D is handled.

We got there around 7:15am ..... initially it wasn't that bad, but seriously more people kept piling into the line ahead of us as the morning progressed. I can understand maybe letting a friend or two in with you, but some people were holding spots for like 5+. I was getting a little irritated about it and ready to start gettin' in peoples' faces. It's just not cool when you do your part to get there on time and some *******s show up an hour before the movie and get a better spot in line than you. Luckily myself and my two buddies ended up getting decent seats. We were over on the far side of the row where all the 93.3 KDKB people were sitting.

Dude, it was freeeeeeezing with that wind whipping around while we were all waiting out there.

Theaters are only pushing 3D because there loosing the war against Home entertainment centers with HD setups. It's the only thing special that they can do that can't be done at home any more. I mean most people would rather kick out $20-$30 bucks to own the movie and watch it in HD at home multiple time than kick out $10-$15 bucks to watch it once.

Yep, and for a movie like Avengers I'm fine with paying a bit extra because I want the movie to do well. I don't care the least which movie makes the most money but I want it to be a success in Marvel's eyes so they'll continue to increase budgets.

I bought a new TV a couple of months ago and I made an effort to find the best possible unit for the money I was ready to spend, which included finding one that wasn't 3D-ready.

I am also of the opinion that 3D is a little useless as it adds nothing (plotwise) to the movie. As of that when there is 3D I prefer it to be athmospheric and not in-your-face. Like The Avatar 3D(though it didn´t make the movie better for me..) and in Hugo Cabret.

And of course 3D is promoted because it brings more money.. it´s interesting to see that the 3D boom already backslashes..

BTW first time seeing the Avengers Trailer in TV since December! God I hate the Dub voice of Thor....

Yeah, nothing can top the voice of Hemsworth. May I ask where you come from?

Yeah it was freezing. The cutting in line was ticking me off too, the two guys next to us in the theater got seated first and when we asked what time they arrived they said they just showed up. I was there at 6:00 AM. Luckily I got pretty awesome seats about halfway up towards the middle. It was ideally placed for the IMAX and the 3D. Damn that was a good time.

Yes, Hemsworth has that deep rumble fitting of a thundergod :)
His dubvoice sounds like a teenager. Also Tony´s dubvoice makes him more of a jerk in our dub...

I´m from Germany.

And this is why they should really put their focus on IMAX instead of 3D. IMAX is proven and actually contributes loads to the experience. And theaters will still gain just as much in ticket sales. I think IMAX tickets are only about a dollar cheaper than IMAX 3D, so there's not a huge loss there. I'm just sick of not getting the option to see a movie in IMAX because I'd have to sit through 3D and there's nothing I can do about it.

Brand new spot just premiered on Lakers game. A whole bunch of new shots, the best line:

Cap: Mr. Stark we need a plan of attack.

Stark: I have a plan, attack.

Just saw that one too. Looks like my guess of them having spots for every hero is true.

Seriously, there were so many memorable lines ..... so much so that it's hard to recall them all.

I am not gonna watch the same tv spots again if it gets out online...
spoils the moment too much

I'm german too. :yay:. So I know exactly what you mean.

They can give very much effort for the dubbing, when you hear the original the dubbing is ruined.

And I always wonder why the give actors with dark, deep voices the dubbing of a teenie boy. It happened with Orlando Bloom before and now it's with Chris Hemsworth the same.

They just showed New Cap tv spot during the lakers game...
pretty awesome new shots

Just saw another TV spot, with the focus being on CA, during the Lakers game. Had some shots that weren't in previous ones.

I wonder, do these tv spots and trailers have any scenes that are not in the movie?

Ironically we get to see the movie earlier than america but have to wait until the DVD/BR for a much better original :)

I'm from Germany, too. I think it's the "hero tenor" syndrome. You have a blond, heroic guy, so of course he gets a Wagnerian tenor voice, never mind his original voice. It pisses me off.
